How exactly do crown store dye packs work?

is it just a one time dying of one piece of armor or outfit with the 3 shades you buy or does it unlock them in your dyeing pallette?

I'm hoping its the latter, but I'm guessing its the former, in which case it kind of seems like a huge rip-off.

Mainly asking because I was thinking about picking up the 1000 crown adept pack which has 3 outfits, a horse, exp scrolls, other stuff, and a dye pack.

thanks.

It's just the former I believe:
It's a one time use on one costume, in the colour order that's predefined by the pack.
Being ESO Plus I have never used one though, but that is my understanding of how they work.
If you can be anything, be kind.

They are for costume dying only, and only work once. And yes, they are a rip off but it would be insane for them to let people buy dyes that are supposed to come form achievements.

Dye Stamps allow you do dye a costume of choice (or a costume + hat with a single stamp) with the 3 colors from the stamp.

You can get a preview from the Crown Store by wearing a costume (+ hat) before buying the dye. When you buy the stamp from the Store, you use the Dye Stamp from your inventory again while wearing your costume to get another preview. Then confirm et voila: your costume is dyed

The 3 colors are on fixed locations btw: you can't change their position in the Dye Stamp afaik

I am currently wearing a costume with a very cool dye pack applied (Halloween special colors).

Question is... can I take off my costume or swap costumes without losing my dye pack colors?

Sometimes, I just want to run around with a different costume or polymorph, for the day...

I definitely don't want to chance losing this dye pack.

The costume is dyed you don't loose the color just because you unequipped it.

You mean: losing the colors from your costume when you decide to wear a diff one? No, the colors will remain on that costume. They are permanent

Thanks for clearing this up everyone. I tend to like to change up my colors on a regular basis, so I guess this just isn't for me, but thats cool.

Once you've used the color stamp, does that become the default color for the outfit (i.e. if you dye over the color stamp, can you ever go back to that dye pack color scheme) or is it gone forever?

If you dye over it, the previous colors are gone. Replaced with the new ones

Subs can always dye costumes without crowns
