dual core CPUs dropped without Announcement

Since you have all overlooked it: Almost all Intel dual cores have hyper-threading, which means that they can emulate a 4-core CPU without losing anything other than a little performance from not having 4 physical cores.
Which, assuming it is true that ESO now requires 4 threads, explains why some of you think you are still able to run ESO on a dualcore CPU:

You're not doing what you think you are doing, your intel CPU is just emulating a quad core (at the cost of some performance).

Looks like they dropped the dual core AMD back around January or February of 2016. At least, that is when UESP updated the minimum system requirements for Windows.

That actually could be. My specific model under AMD says I have 6 cores, but it's really just 2 with four on the GPU. Huh. Welp. That's my answer then! Thanks!

That could have been around the announcement when they did TG's update. I think that came out in what... March?

Folks cry because they want better graphics
Folks cry because the game won't run on a couple toothpicks and a Jiffypop bag.

    Mostly folks cry.

From the OP's first post I though they were talking about ZOS dropping multi-threading support. Now I know they are just trying to run the game with an old AMD CPU. A dualcore AMD ≠ an intel i3 processor.

On steam, the minimum requirement listed for the processor is:

Processor: Intel i3 or AMD 3870 generation processors or higher

The AMD side is a 4 core cpu.

On the ESO Store, the minimum system requirements for the processor is:

    Processor: Intel® Core™ i3 540 or AMD A6-3620

Which, again on the AMD side, is a 4 core cpu.

ESO Support Page with system requirements:
    https://help.elderscrollsonline.com/app/answers/detail/a_id/3313/~/what-are-the-system-requirements-for-the-elder-scrolls-online-on-pc-/-mac?

Processor: Intel® Core i3 540 or AMD A6-3620 or higher

    same as store page.

The best that I can tell, the changes to the minimum requirements were made between Tamriel Unlimited and Orsinium.(Q4 2015 and Q1 2016) If you left before ESO:TU and came back for Morrowind, sorry you missed out on the system requirement changes. They added a 64 bit client when Orsinium launched and when there are changes to the engine like that there are changes to the minimum requirements.

So in conclusion, ESO Didn't change system requirements FOR Morrowind, they were changed a year and a half ago.

Source from a year and a half ago talking about the specs I listed above:(They don't talk about AMD CPUs but the change from coreduo to i3, I assume the AMD processor was updated at the same time)

Source with Specs listed above last updated around a year ago:

EDIT: Added support article link with system requirements
    EDIT 2: Added clarification

@kunquatb16_ESO Welcome to 2017. Even in 2009, a Quadcore was already standard (Phenom II X4 or i5 7XX).

I've been playing solidly besides a break due to ill health since beta. Ran fine even during Morrowind early access at low / med settings.

Guess I'll have to crank everything down, hope, and start saving.

With each major update, there is the risk that they will increase the load on the system. Still within specs, but closer to the edges. If you are below spec, you might work fine until it gets to a certain point, then things start to work not so well.

Dialing everything back to see if it helps is about all you can do, until you can get a new system. :unamused:
