Returning player faces the RNG Gods

I am a long time player and played ESO daily from release until Champ Points were introduced. My play time dropped afterwards until I finally just drifted away to play other games for a year or so. I kept up with what changes were going on and jumped back in last month in preparation for Morrowind. I was really happy to see that VR was gone and I could solo normal dungeons and get a key for it. Even better I could choose which chest I wanted to get gear from allowing me to be able narrow down a group of shoulders I could bet gear from. So, I set out to upgrade all my gear and get all my characters tricked out with new 160 gear (bye bye 140 on my lesser played alts) and some monster sets for each.
For all the good changes, there was still that near unbeatable God of RNG. It has always been cruel and has always been unbeatable. Here are the results of my battle with that God after 84 keys:

9 Divines
13 Impenetrable
8 Infused
14 Prosperous
8 Reinforced
7 Sturdy
14 Training
11 Well Fitted

In a perfect world I would get exactly what I want in class and trait. I don’t live in a perfect world so I can accept just getting something that I can use and upgrade as I see fit. What I don’t understand and find it near unacceptable is how 1/3 of the drops are Prosperous and Training. 1st, why are these even in the loot table for Monster sets? 2nd, why are these 2 complete trash traits for a max level character weighted so heavily? This whole thing is frustrating for me and I am just looking for usable pieces, I can’t imagine how frustrated people have been who are looking for a specific boss piece, with a specific weight and specific trait. Grinding that would take obsessive dedication mixed with a few doses of insanity. Hats off to you guys

RNG God: Theater of Pain Edition
I read stories of this God and his unrelenting cruelty. I decided to crawl to the mountain top to face him myself and suffer his judgement. I had never done vMA before so this was daunting to start. After getting through it once, over a 3 day time frame, I figured I can make it through a little easier with more repetition. 1st 2 ties were on magsorc and the next 8 times were on a magblade because I enjoy that character more. 10 run total results:

Ax/Dagger – Decisive/Charged
2H – Charged
Ax/Dagger – Defending/Charged
Resto Staff – Decisive
Bow – Charged
2H – Nirn
Resto – Nirn
Bow – Precise
Resto – Powered

After 9 runs I received nothing that would benefit the characters I used to get through the content. If I was playing a stam character I might be mildly pleased…but I am not. So in an attempt to change my luck I decided to see if I could trick this SoB of a God. Before opening the “Chest of Champions” I changed my gear to full Stam and equipped a bow and 2H. What did I get? Flame Staff w/ Defending. I couldn’t help but laugh at that one. It isn’t perfect, but I can make use of this weapon. Is it a coincidence that I got the opposite of what I was wearing? Possibly so because that sample size is miniscule. But you can bet that I will be switching gear before I open every other final chest from now on.

Can agree that training and prosperous should be removed from the undaunted loot table, but I can also guarantee you that your vma loot doesn't at all factor in what gear you're wearing.

RNG is really a pain in this game and I doubt that they will ever change it. There have been uncounted threads in the forums about it displaying the problems (mainly no upper limit until you get the desired item), but all they ever said was "we are looking into it" and that was before Homestead.

For the record: My first and only Grothdarr shoulder in divines was after 330 keys...

update: just did the ol' switcheroo to stam gear at the Chest of Champions and got Precise Lightning Staff in vMA. Probably just a freak occurence and that once again I am rewarded with something not related to what I have equipped.

RNG is a pain in any game.

For weapons, you're rolling a 108 sided die. You 9 possible traits and 12 possible weapons. Each run is an independent. You could run the content hundreds of times and never get what you want.

Remove two traits and your down to an 84 sided die. You've raised the chance of getting what you want from a .9% chance to a 1.2% chance. It's slightly better, but again you could literally run the content hundreds of times and never get what you want.

There are other mechanisms that have been proposed, like a token based system. Another mechanism could be that you gather "special" crafting materials from runs and if you have max crafting you can use those materials to create what you want (crafting material drops depend on performance or something). Regardless, the content wasn't meant to be one-and-done so even if it wasn't RNG based you'd still be running it multiple times.
