What are you ranting about I bought the Dro-M Athra senche mount for 4000 Crowns and its gonna be in the dwemer crown crates as a friend already got it from his 1 dwemer Morrowing pre-order crate. So it is even more unfair for us that people can obtain this mount for a lot less (100 gems).

I'm not against more people owning this mount (it is awesome) but the cost at which people will be getting it is ridiculous.

That is the real disappointment here. That someone might get that garbage in their crate.

Apparently random people on the internet who 99% of the time have no experience or knowledge in marketing know what's best. Not the multi-million dollar company who is swimming in the money. Always makes me laugh :D

I got my hero costume ages ago, could not care less if it comes into more crates, let people do what they want.

    Repeat after me.

The sales and marketing team can do whatever they want.

Players don't get to decide how the Crown Store should work.

ZOS has to make money somehow - they are just doing the rational work that makes them the most cash and it is their right.

Did I miss any more of the overly-obvious statements that people tout around, as if they mean something profound when someone else takes issue with the games monetization, but feign to ignore when they personally don't like some small part of the monetization system?

    I forgot one.

Nobody makes any of you buy this stuff. If you don't like the practice, then don't buy the goods.

I see no problem here. For one, we had our chance at a direct purchase, which should have been the case I for every single Crown Crate collectible, or at the very least the non-themed ones, but unfortunately ZOS decided to go one of the most consumer-unfriendly way they could think of. Also, I would be willing to bet that 2000 for each is less than most people will pay to get them from the crates, save from some lucky draws.

As time goes by this statement becomes more and more incorrect for many people that are new(er) to the game (it already is for me as I was never offered the opportunity).

I think a lot of these systems are a bit ... less then optimal for a dynamic environment like this. Even the in-game luxury furnisher - doesn't have to be about the crown store.

The other train of thought - about showing the age of an account - should be from my point of view more used for in-game events.

I for myself though have accepted that I cannot apply the old style thinking of catching them all. That is reserved for in-game item I can earn through playing.

    Why?

I said it in that comment. The current system is incredibly consumer-unfriendly. One of the worsts I ever saw in a non-F2P game in my entire life, if not the worst. And it used to be even worse, before they allowed the exchange of consumables for gems.

Offering at least the non-themed stuff before shoving them in the crates would downright eliminate the opposition to the Crown Crates, it was the main feedback given since the begining. Consumer satisfaction is kinda relevant to a business too.

Besides, once they are gone from the store, they would become exclusive to the crates anyway. Only then people wouldn't have any grounds to complain, since they had a chance to get it the traditional way, even if for a short period of time.

Friendly reminder, the crates were first introduced as "a way to get stuff that isn't up for sale anymore". Only after bothering ZOS for a while we got them to say there would be non-themed exclusives in there, and only after the first batch hit the PTS we realized that a huge portion of the things in the crates were exclusive (well over half of them).
Just so that everyone knows, my Altmer still can't have black hair. About a dozen of Altmer NPCs in the game have black hair. Just saying.

    Meet my characters:
    Command: Do the thing.

Zadarri, Khajiit Fist of Thalmor: The thing was done, as commanded.
Durza gra-Maghul, Orc blacksmith: The thing was done perfectly, in the most efficient way.
Tegwen, Bosmer troublemaker: You can't prove I didn't do the thing.
Sings-Many-Songs, Argonian fisher: Sure, I'll do the thing... Eventually. Maybe.
Aerindel, Altmer stormcaller: After extensive research, I've come to the conclusion that doing the thing would be a waste of resources.
Liliel, Dunmer pyromancer: Aerindel said I shouldn't do the thing. Something about "resources".
Gyda Snowcaller, Nord cryomancer: I will find a way to do it that won't waste resources and make Aerindel proud of me.
Beatrice Leoriane, Breton vampire: I persuaded someone else into doing the thing. You are welcome, dear.
Sahima, Redguard performer: Doing the thing sounds awfully unpleasant and really not my problem.
Ellaria Valerius, Imperial priestess: I'll pray to the Eight for the thing to be done, if it is Their will.

I personally I like the older costumes in the crates if that is the only way to get them now. I missed out on some of the outfits when I took a 2 year break from the game. Though I would prefer them just to be put back in the store for a limited time.

Honestly, I feel bad for the cosmetically-inclined players who are new to the game, because many of them never had the chance to get some of the great costumes that are now retired. The High-collared Ball Gown, the Treethane Ceremonial Dress, the cultural packs... All great items that are now locked off to new players because they didn't happen to be playing when those items were in the store.

I used to be active on another MMO where no cosmetic items were retired, ever. Browsing the costume store was glorious, because you'd scroll through hundreds of items (sorted by category) and see all options available. I miss that, and wish that was the in-store model that ZOS had implemented.

But it wasn't, so I'll make do with retired items being available in the Crates, at least for a limited period of time before the crate season ends. After those few months, they'll still be "exclusive" to the people who bought them, no more.

It hasn't been officially announced yet, but anyone who preordered Morrowind got a free Dwarven Crate, some of which have had hero costumes in them.
