Whats the point of Motifs anymore?

On a side not I would like to see older motifs to be redone.
The standard Dark Elf and Nord motifs are really out of proportion, generic, and cartoony.

I use several crafted sets. I don't see an issue here.

I suppose I could compromise by agreeing that if you have the motif you should be able to buy some 15k item that lets you morph your current gears style. That would be cool.

I don't collect motifs. If I get them, even rare ones, I don't feel excited. I just right click and use, then forget that I ever had it.

The conversion to a specific style, including found gear, should be added to the crafting station once you have mastered that style.

Like has been said, some of use still use purely crafted sets.

Magicka Templars main builds still rely on almost entirely crafted pieces - Julianos, plus one other 3 piece + jewellry.

I was doing some build fine tuning last night, and now have a Mag Temp build using 8 crafted pieces, an off race, plus 3 dropped jewellry, and its stats are nothing short of stunning.

2K Spell Damage, 74% Spell Crit, 32K Magicka, 1124 Mag recovery, all on a crafted setup.

I came to the conclusion that the focus has been lost, and almost no-one is theorycrafting in any efficient way anymore. Alcast is possibly the only one throwing together coherent builds, and even he recommends a lot of crafted sets!

Out of all his builds only one that I've seen so far having one crafted set for end game.
He stats that you can use crafted TILL you get the gear he uses for a build.
When you have nothing something is good.
Good can never be the best, it can only be good.

By the time your a Master Crafter you will have already started to run trials/dungeons to farm BiS gear.
This thread is about the usefulness of motifs
90+/-% of BiS end game setups do not use crafted gear.
Yet there are 20 or so motif sets out there.

So if your leveling a new toon or just want to be sub-par then crafted is the way to go.
At end game non-crafted is the way to go and you will never see those motifs in use ever again.

Agree with minor caveat that there are always some exceptions but the vast majority is as you describe.

but let me be even more blunt...

Look at how many end game builds of note work well and close to biS wioth no crafted pieces whatsoever? Quite a few, right?
Compare that to how many of the same work fine with no drop-sets whatsoever? none right? nobody decides "well screww the jewel slots."

if you want motifs to matter the main change that needs to happen is to make some of the 14 slots crafted only, just like some now are drops only.

Then there is no longer competition between drops and crafteds but collaboration.

Then style control between drops and crafteds is no longer hurting one vs the other.

I have almost every disguise in the game.
I thought people just forgot about them.
I love putting on the servant's robes from Stros M'Kai
When people see me in a dungeon or trial and I'm wearing that they get confused.
