Yagrum Bagarn is the last known living Dwemer. Not sure if he is in the ESO morrowind timeline.
They can't return because we know they didn't. ESO takes place 800 years before the mainline TES games and by that point in the future, Vivec didn't find any trace of the Dwemer, neither on Mundus not in the Outer Realms.Victoria_Marquis wrote: »ESO should bring back the Dwemer, it's time we get a new race in the game. Well old race... Eh ... Return of the Dwemer.
From what little I've read from lore, the Dwemer are not extinct, but open a portal to a new realm. So they could easily come back to Tamrial.
@SantieClaws I heard dwarves eating cats for dinner, can you confirm?

This also suggests they aren't simply hiding in another realm. They vanished; there are several theories as to how and to where, but none of them allow for easy return to Mundus (if it's even possible at all, because they might very well all be dead).
But most importantly: the primary appeal of the Dwemer are their mysteries. If they come back to answer all our questions, the magic will be gone. I hope it never happens.
I seen a dwarf. I did. It was late in the middle of the night. Me and Bornn were wandering by the farm hunting skeevers when loe and behold, der it was, a dwarf. He was holding a big ax, stroking his beard, and drinking a full mug of stout. He pointed his index finger at me and said something in his dweemish like language. Bornn grabbed his hammer and chased after him, but the little bugger was faster than a guar during solstice. Reported it to the local constable, and he said he'd chased one, too, a long time ago before he took an arrow in the knee and couldn't chase them any more.

Because he ate the rest of them??
Oh gods. New headcanon.
I'm a HUGE FAN of Dwarves in World of Warcraft and Warhammer/Total War Warhammer.....and when I heard that Dwarves were coming to Elder Scrolls Online I got so excited! [...]

Due to this fact, and the stealing of some of the purebred Dwarven technology, they were killed off by the racists Dwarves from within the Hollow Nirn. This lead to the great tech war between the Dwarves, and the Gnomes. The Gnomes were greatly horrified by the slaughter of those innocent Dwemer. These battles underfoot are why the volcanos have been erupting as they have been.
Hopefully Dwarves will be a playable race in the future....
Are you thinking along the lines of Marvel ... bringing all together? Like the Horde could invade Tamriel while the Space Marines attack the Siths Headquarters, He-Man singing a duet with Gandalf in the background?
The world server would crash!
I know the timelines don't match up as the Dwemer disappeared at the end of the Battle for Red Mountain. But it would be interesting if the Dwemer as a race had attained ascension and as a race were transformed into the Daedra.

Are you guys also saying that the Dwemer are not capable of building time traveling machines? In the glorious World of Warcraft.....when a new race was needed a space ship full of goats crashed landed into the planet. I do not understand why we can't do the same thing here. Except it makes more sense in this storyline...since maybe all the Dwarves left because they built a giant spaceship and will return in the future after exploring the galaxy.

The Dwemer disappeared in the First Era, ESO is happening in the Second. If they time-traveled to the past, they'd still be extinct today.I know the timelines don't match up as the Dwemer disappeared at the end of the Battle for Red Mountain. Couldn't the Dwemer build time traveling machines and get stuck in the past? Making Dwemer a playable ESO race? This could change all the games in ESO forever....once the Dwemer time traveled to the past.....every future Elder Scrolls game can be simply a tranformed version of the old one. For instance....in this new time line we will see Dwemer all over Skyrim.

Story (I can't confirm) goes a race of giants met them and since they were small in comparison, they came to be called dwarves. Supposedly the dwemer/dwarves were actually of average height compared to the other major races in Tamriel. Taller than the wood elves.

There is one actually. The Yagrum guy (someone posted a picture of him earlier). Forget which ES he shows up in, but I definitely remember running across him at one point. He's like the survivor of their race (way past their time).
