Where are the dwarves? I've looked everywhere!

You are not alone in searching everywhere. Many men and mer have dedicated their lives to finding out where the Dwemer have gone.

Most are driven to madness by the time spent in ruins, spending the rest of thier lives haunted by the sounds of mechanical enemies in the distance. Others are simply never heard from again.

    Oh gods. New headcanon.
Just so that everyone knows, my Altmer still can't have black hair. About a dozen of Altmer NPCs in the game have black hair. Just saying.

    Meet my characters:
    Command: Do the thing.

Zadarri, Khajiit Fist of Thalmor: The thing was done, as commanded.
Durza gra-Maghul, Orc blacksmith: The thing was done perfectly, in the most efficient way.
Tegwen, Bosmer troublemaker: You can't prove I didn't do the thing.
Sings-Many-Songs, Argonian fisher: Sure, I'll do the thing... Eventually. Maybe.
Aerindel, Altmer stormcaller: After extensive research, I've come to the conclusion that doing the thing would be a waste of resources.
Liliel, Dunmer pyromancer: Aerindel said I shouldn't do the thing. Something about "resources".
Gyda Snowcaller, Nord cryomancer: I will find a way to do it that won't waste resources and make Aerindel proud of me.
Beatrice Leoriane, Breton vampire: I persuaded someone else into doing the thing. You are welcome, dear.
Sahima, Redguard performer: Doing the thing sounds awfully unpleasant and really not my problem.
Ellaria Valerius, Imperial priestess: I'll pray to the Eight for the thing to be done, if it is Their will.

You should really go to the UESP wiki. Lots of good information.

Dwemer aren't Tolkien dwarves. If you play original Morrowind, you can find their ghosts in a few of the ruins. When you play Tribunal, you will find a ruin that has piles of ash on benches at tables, at craftsmen's workstations, at guardposts in rooms, in piles of armor, and even in beds. Seems to be whatever was left after Kagrenac messed about with things he shouldn't have. Yagrum Bagarn is the last living dwemer, and you can soul trap at least one dwemer ghost. Otherwise they are gone.

If you did see an article about bringing back the dwemer, I would do a lot of serious checking before believing it.

While the Dwemer cannot be stated to have gone extinct, what is true beyond reasonable doubt is that the Dwemer does not exist anymore. At least not on Nirn or any known plane of existence.

The Dwemer strived to attain godhood - to transcend their then current existence. Maybe they succeeded? Maybe disappearing off the face of Nirn meant they became part of Aetherius - kind of like what the Altmer (later era Aldmeri Dominion) are trying to do, and have tried to do for centuries.

Or maybe it was considered a sin or wrongdoing by existence itself, and therefore they were simply erased.

I mean toggling god mode in an online game usually does get you banned, right?

Are you thinking along the lines of Marvel ... bringing all together? Like the Horde could invade Tamriel while the Space Marines attack the Siths Headquarters, He-Man singing a duet with Gandalf in the background?

I think this would be a great expansion for them to sell! The introduction of Dwarves, and Gnomes! Have them just appear for the first time, digging up from deep within the world where they've been living, and hiding.

I think that would be much better than saying they were like on one of those two moons. Don't want to see another Luclin happen. Would much rather explore the possibilities of a Hallow Nirn.

also i would like to note that the Dwemer, sometimes called dwarves by men, were not small stout dwarves but another race of Mer or "elves" smaller than the altmer and Chimer who often wore beards. The "dwarves" of Tamriel are basically Bosmer with beards.

and no They will not ever be a playable race. To do that would destroy all of TES lore. The mystery of the Dwemer disappearence is one of the binding factors in all elder scrolls games. Enjoy the mystery. Some stones are better left unturned.

That's all any mer really wants. Is to ascend somewhere to something. Be it the ather, as robots, something or somewhere.

The creation of nirn pulled them from some form of divinity then the mass identity crisis started and they all turned into different mer looking for a way to a home the they can never return.

Its like ingrained in their DNA.

ESO should bring back the Dwemer, it's time we get a new race in the game. Well old race... Eh ... Return of the Dwemer.

From what little I've read from lore, the Dwemer are not extinct, but open a portal to a new realm. So they could easily come back to Tamrial.

I'm thinking since Dwemer aren't the traditional Dwarves why not actually add the traditional Dwarves as a whole new race. I think Gnomes would be great too!

If you want traditional dwarfs then you need to go to the World of Warcraft. We have Nords as drunken vikings so there's no need for those boring runts. In TES 3 we could also see a dwemer ghosts:
    TR-creature-Radac_Stungnthumz.jpg
They were a little bit taller than bosmer and one of them was called Radac Stungnthumz.
This is The Elder Scrolls with its own lore, there's no need to copy everything from others. We have ten races, it's far more than in GW2, why you guys want new so much?
