I don't understand how this keeps happening, doesn't your confirmation get automatically cancelled when the player removes the gold?

I don't understand how it works either, but there are videos of people doing it and I've had people attempt to do it twice during trades. Thankfully they were shite at doing it so just cancelled the whole thing. Typed a message in zone chat that player 'X' was some spoilt little child trying to get gold for housing all because s/he couldn't take being told no from mummy and daddy, so resorted to stealing from others instead. Then moved on with my life.

High ticket items, always wait for them to submit first. If they do, then the trade goes through automatically when you hit submit. You have a friend in-game? Maybe you should tell them about the person and then they can try and find them if they try to flip your stuff, then scam them right back and return your stuff.

It's like...seriously...people,can't go through life without stealing virtual gold that someone else worked for...so utterly lame, the scammers. Effing morons.

Oftentimes, if you complain enough ZOS will assist. At least, they used to. I've seen posts where people report them helping with stuff like this. It might take being a squeaky wheel. Any game footage or screen shots help.

At the risk of causing more scamming, this is what's happening. The scammer is loading the cash into the transaction. You load your goods. They then know you're about to accept, and they try to time removing their gold and clicking okay to line up a nanosecond before your transaction accept.

If you sell to people you don't know, here's the easy fix...wait to a count of three to accept the deal. Everyone's goods loaded...okay...one one thousand, two one thousand, three one thousand. If on their window the gold goes flying out, they thought you'd accept right away and they're trying to time it to scam you. Tell them to go screw a skeever, don't trade, and report their account. If they're honest and ask why you're so slow, tell them it's a 420 sort of day, and complete the transaction.

Sorry you were scammed. Nobody needs that bummer in a game. What platform/server are you on?

Latency and a quick finger? I mean, it still requires you to resubmit doesn't it? Or is there a bug where they can remove the gold without the trade being automatically cancelled on your end?

The only way I can see this happening on PC is for people to not be paying attention

You never ever ever ever click submit with your item presented until THEY have their gold out and have clicked submit.
Force weapon swap to have priority over EVERYTHING. Close enough.
Make stamina builds even with magicka builds.
    Disable abilities while holding block.
Give us a REASON to do dungeons more than once.
Remove PVP AoE CAP. It is ruining Cyrodiil.

It's sad that this bug has existed as long as trading has... Warframe had this bug when it introduced trading - it was permanently fixed like 2 months later when it was discovered. Nailed in the coffin and dead.

Why can't ZOS fix huge issues like this?

At the same time OP - now that you know, I recommend never trading with players again. I refuse to. They can either pay through COD or go to guild store. My trust is low after a guy TRIED to do this to me on 200k+ transaction - but for whatever reason his attempt resulted in a failure and I was given the prompt to accept after his change. But I obviously knew what he was up to when he removed the gold... awkward times when we both quit the trade and he ran off into the distance...

People really need to stop doing trades like this. Use the mail system for large sales. COD exists for a damn good reason. If they don't accept the mail, you get the items and the COD fee back. If they do, you get the gold.

"We ONLY support selling thru GUILD STORES. Anything else is at your own risk."

Direct quote from Day 1 when the servers went up. Why do people fall for this stuff? Its is a known macro from Beta that ZoS says is a player problem, not theirs.

their are people that have been doing this since launch, they usually can guess when your about to press the except button. they were swapping temps for citrenes back then, now they are doing it with that athierial dust and flour. this is why i only use cod, and i make sure to always check the contents. you should only do trades if its with someone you know, or if your not to concerned with losing the item.

    want my advice?,
when you are trading with someone, make sure you take a screenshot before accepting, so that way you have proof.

EQ2 has the most secured trade panel, thief-proof and scam free. they had earlier problems after it was launched, took them 11 months later to add secured trade panel, if that person tried to pull, the panel drops and no exchanges made, you still have items or coins, ever since, it still works.

i am surprised ESO didnt have advanced secure trade panel, it seem like they did a rush job to launch ESO and never did any progress.

DCUO implemented a 3 second timer before you could click submit. If anything in the trade window changes, the timer starts over and both parties are forced to unsubmit their entry and wait 3 seconds.

This gives the seller/buyer a window to review what had been changed.

They added that feature to combat this exact shady process.

It worked very well to combat that type of trade scam.

    I suggest looking into it.

The trade system is a bit counter intuitive. First you submit your offer this lock the selection on your side.
The next click submit the offer. Not sure how it works on console but probably much the same.
This is nice then giving away stuff but dangerous if you do high value trade.
It should be one key / button for submit offer and one for comity trade
or at least the text on button should change.
Grinding just make you go in circles.
Asking ZoS for nerfs is as stupid as asking for close air support from the death star.

It really is not a Zos issue if the trade system is working properly, which is probably is. There has been this kind of scam previously. It is best to be careful and make sure their gold is placed before submitting the trade. If they take it out then the trade is not valid unless you submit it again. However, action like that is a good sign they are trying to pull one over on you.

With that, Zos recently did take action against someone selling junk to unwitting buyers and essentially that person is not playing ESO anymore.

A GM would actually come in to play as well. In game he would take the stolen inventory out of scammers pack and then have you both do the trade again. See DCOU keeps a log with everything in it. Chats, trade windows the works. Give them the time of day and what server and they will review it. Some scammers were given bans.
Such fond memories of that game.Good old DisConnect Universe Online. They sure named it right.
I remember the AH was glitched.
You would buy something but it didn't take your cash.
    You got the item,
    the seller got his money,
and perma bans were handed out like candy.
And clipping. Devs"yes clipping is part of the game get used to it"
    Players "OK"
years later... Devs "clipping has been removed for a better system called Weapon Mastery"
    Players "we're leaving"
I hear they had to mash console and pc on the same servers and
Villains could group with Heros so they could fill group finder.
    Housing with a purpose.
Guild halls the next update with purpose.

    Good times

This may be a unpopular opinion but it's your fault for not checking the trade window properly while trading. Does it suck? Obviously and the players are scummy people but this isn't Zenimax's fault and honestly, the players don't deserve any sort of punishment unless they're doing this on a mass scale or something - this is on you.
