On Console, can we pre-download Morrowind?

Has there been any official news about this?

Can PS4 and Xbox One players start downloading the huge Morrowind file on June 5th (or earlier) so we can start playing at midnight on June 6th?

Yes. As I stated before Zos has never setup a pre-download for any patch or update since the initial release.

Zos makes the DL available well after they take the servers offline for patch maintenance. Further, July 6 doesn't mean 12 AM on that date and very much likely mid day at best is when the servers will come back online and we can begin playing the expansion.

And yes. It's exactly what I said. Since launch we have never been able to pre-download a patch. Before launch we were able to download the game.

It has never happened with an patch or update since and extremely unlikely it will happen for Morrowind which is what OP is asking about.

Because Morrowind file availability is going to depend on your retailer, ZOS can't issue a blanket statement. For example:

Thank you for your fact-based response Giles. I am marking your response as having answered my question as well as you too Tan.

However, I am skeptical of the idea that there won't be a pre-download period for Morrowind on PS4 and Xbox One because, while Morrowind is technically both a patch and a DLC, it is primarily being marketed as a Chapter. Given this, I hypothesize that they'll treat it differently.

I could be wrong, but I am excited and choose to remain hopeful that this is the case.

Additionally, I think ZOS has special contract requirements with Sony and Microsoft.

Regardless, I'll report back around June 4th or 5th

I don't think you can start downloading the patch u til after the server is up. That's how it's always been now the pre-install of the game is different from the updates

On my ps4 it says expected pre download date is 6/4/17, I actually already received ps exclusive scrib pet on 6/3 for preordering on ps store

Microsoft have changed the date from the 5th to the 6th.. so it looks like its going to be a case of waiting for the servers to be ready/almost ready for putting live and then having the usual massive file to download, unless plenty of content was added in the two previous large downloads we have had since M/wind was announced.. (about 38gb in total for the two download if i remember correctly), then its more than likely going to be huge.

It always says that even for games without preload. If you actually look for it though - there's a clear timer indicating the update won't be available to use for another day and 16 hours and 52 minutes as of right now. AKA June 6th. ).

I take this to mean that if I have a digital or hard copy of the Morrowind game, I'll be able to pre-load it starting at 9pm EDT. The patch(which is a separate item from the game) will only be available after the servers come back online.

I pre ordered the digital collectors edition upgrade on xbox one. If anyone else did the same, go to the store, it will tell you the product is installed. Make no mistake though, you won't be playing at midnight. Apparently the update for us Europeans is scheduled at 1AM?
