Is anyone else fed up with the quality of writ maps?

Would you rather just want a container with the mats in it?

Once youve done em a few times youll remember each location.. otherwise Google is a dear friend that will lead you to various pages or images of maps and videos to show you the exact location..

I'm sorry but anybody who says you'll remember them after doing them a few times is joking hard... there's literally like what... 200 different map locations? Sorry but nobody is going to remember that. That's like saying after harvesting nodes a few times you'll know where they all spawn... sure you'll remember 1 or 2, but don't joke around - nobody is remembering the locations of 200 maps.

Google on the other hand is the only way to actually get these done - and that's an indication of flawed design.

I have a notebook that contains the location of every skyshard, every lorebook, every survey location (that I have had a survey for), as well as sundry other locations like treasure maps and Vvardenfell tombs. I have enjoyed putting it together and means that I don't have to memorise anything. I can find any location in approximately 15 seconds.

I think writ maps and treasure maps are a fantastic addition to the game... Personally Id like to see a level of RNG in the map system, that way we aren't always running back to the same couple spots over and over again.

I know, I just asked for an element of RNG. :D

The survey maps themselves are fine, especially since we can get their location via Google searches.

However, it is a pain that Zos spreads out surveys across all the original zones, craglorn and Wrothgar. I find it ironic, and a real tease on the part of Zos that they made it so surveys stack at the same time surveys went across all of these zones. A basic insult since it is so much more work now.

    @ZOS_GinaBruno @ZOS_JessicaFolsom

I'm not sure if i'm following, are you commenting on the stacking, or the fact that they're spread out across the zones? I love the fact that the surveys stack now. To me it makes using the surveys much more worthwhile than before, because I don't try to do all locations at once. Instead I allow them to stack up, and then when I have a about 8-10 of just a few locations, I then go and farm just those surveys, costing only some extra logins, and a bit of storage to allow them to stack up to begin with. And before you know it, I have many hundreds of mats, ready to refine or do whatever...

Or maybe just something a little more involved. It doesn't matter if it is RNG or not. Perhaps include contact with NPCs, procedural quests or the like. Tracking back to the same locations all of the time doesn't bother me but it feels... shallow.

i found 2 atherial dust few months ago, cant remember where i found it or how i got it. got those 2 on my first week playing it.

I farm constantly, I pick up about 70% of nodes I go buy plus I usually dedicate a few hours on Saturday and sunday to just farming in faction zones and I haven't found one. Guess ill just chalk it up to rng.

You guys think zos will ever permit add- ons for ESO? I see they have them for fallout 4.

They already do. PC has addons.

In regards to the consoles, that is up to Sony and MS, since they are the ones that have to go through and approve every one that would get released.

Figures, yea im on console so no add-ons then. I highly doubt we will ever see them for eso.

If they were all very easy to find what would be the point in playing that part of the game?

Right - and in the actual case of these writ maps, they for some reason have to show me them harvesting the stuff first - or just them running in a circle in the area - before 20 seconds later they actually just open the map and show me where t.f. it is - they're all roughly 1 minute videos who's information could be achieved with a screenshot instead.

Come back when you've played for over 2 years and there's not much left to explore. Just too many writ survey locations with vague details on where to find them.

First day of PC early access here, thanks, so no need for the fallacious appeal to authority.

Exploration is part of the fun, and there are ways around find writ survey locations.

The survey maps are easy peasy. Go to the general location and run around for like 5 minutes.

Stop raging. These surveys can give hundreds of mats (once had 1 survey give me 40rubedite ore from each node) and if you aren't willing to put up with a *tiny* Bit of inconvenience then you don't deserve the surveys.

Exploration is fun... dinking around with these maps does not constitute my idea of fun (that's me, of course) but I would also say it doesn't constitute exploration - it's just another factor to waste time going to a place I'm going to leave the second I harvest all the mats.

If they wanted to incentive exploration I don't think Material Maps are the way to do it - you gotta remember these aren't like Treasure Maps - they aren't intended to be hidden - but the maps themselves as zoomed out to show the entire province and then a big marking that constitutes an area 500m x 500m (made up numbers) that I then have to scour through to find something that was likely not intended to be hard to find in the first place.

I also hate when people even suggest "other ways around" because that usually involves google, addons - or basically anything that frees ZOS from the responsibility of looking features over. Even if they do nothing in the end - to hear our complaints about it would be nice without a bunch of ZOS Knights riding in to say "muh google" and "muh addons."

Sorry the way I read the post it sounded like you haven't played that long.

I have the almost if not all faction locations and wayshrines unlocked. Just sometimes I'll look for 20 minutes or so and not be able to find some of them. Gets rather annoying sometimes.

The community asked for it and frankly I approve. Most craglorn locations were a pain and after a few trips just like doing work. On top of that, about half are really close to way shrines now.

Did we, though? I seem to remember a lot of complaints about Wrothgar, since Xbox players had trouble just loading up the joint. Characters loading into the game were a pretty important prerequisite to actually harvesting them :)

But I don't recall much, if any, feedback about taking the surveys from zone-based to free-for-all.

It's possible I missed it, or maybe it was on PTS threads, but at the very least I don't think we can talk like this was an overwhelming or even strong community desire.

Nothing wrong with the maps. I've never failed to find one yet. They're supposed to be vague, you're meant to go hunt them down, it's part of the meta game.
