Login issue

I have problems to log in characters. I choose character from character login screen and then there is a message "LOGGING IN, Requesting character load" i wait for some time and get message "ERROR - an error has occurred. Please wait a few minutes and log in again." This happends about 8 times from 10 login attempts. IF i somehow get in to game and use weyshire or try to move other zone game starts loading zone, but kicks me out and give message "An error occurred. Please wait few minutes and log in again." Problems start about 3 days ago.

Can we get some details about your system, pretty please?

Also have you tried without addons? Note; You also have to take out your saved variables as the API and game still access them. My recommendation is to move your Addons folder along with the saved variables to the desktop and replace them after you test it. If you're able to log in consecutively a few times without them, it's safe to say it's an addon. If not, we'll definitely need more details.

What you mean by addons? Do you mean expansions like Morrowind? Where i can find those saved variables? I all ready reinstall game, but it wont help. I have Morrowind early start.

Now game worked about 30 mins ok, but when i try to go Dark Brotherhood sanctuary game kicks me out and msg: An error occurred. Please wait few minutes and log in again.

Having the exact same issue as the OP, and am "investigating". Also repaired game files yesterday, did not help.

My system (all that I know about it lol):
Windows 7 ultimate
Intel (R) Core(TM) i7-2600 CPU 3.40GHz

edit: Iike the OP, I have finnish keyboard etc. and play in Finland, if that could have anything to do with this sudden problem..

Started yesterday in game randomly when teleporting or transitioning areas, then started also happening randomly logging in from char screen, then today it did not let any char to login at all

Just disabling addons did not help; then I did as @IndyWendieGo suggested (thanks!) and took out addons and saved variables folders ( from libraries/documents /Elder Scrolls) :
was then able to login to a char in Pulk on Vvardenfell but when exiting the mine, got the error. Now cant log back to her at all.
Logged into a char in Velyn harbor and with her was now able to exit/enter buildings a couple of times, teleport to Snugpod and Sleek Creek houses, but when exiting Sleek Creek to Reapers march got the error again. Now cant log onto her in Sleek Creek house..
Tried logging a char whos either in Rawl`Kah or Rawl`Kha bank, got the error again.
Then : Logged onto a char in Daggerfall, was ok, but then was unable to entert DF thieves guild.
-Char in Mournhold bank, was able to exit to Mournhold and re-enter bank...
-2 chars in Vivec refuge, one could not login, one could ok, but unable to exit refuge.
-Char in Vulkhel Guard, ok, able to enter/exit buildings.

So, so far it seems the errors are worst with addons = cant play at all, and without addons they are worse on Vvardenfell and Rawl`Kha area.
Yesterday the 1st time this started was when I tried to preview the Ald Velothi Harbor house from the store window. After that it was random on transition, but after managing to teleport to my st Delyn penthouse, it got very persistent, managed to get out of there but errors became very frequent for a while.. Then they slowed down and was able to play a couple of hours around Vvardenfell, interiors also, but made the mistake of teleporting to St. Delyn house again, and again errors became frequent after that... untill that char was trapped in Pulk :P.

Another thing, maybe unrelated, that I noticed had changed yesterday is that for a long time I`ve allways had the message "Lua is reaching memory limit, please disable some addons" etc when logging into chars, but never bothered to do anything about it yet, just clicked it away...Yesterday that error message was not there anymore, wierd.

Never had any such problems with Eso before in a couple of years, besides some lag sometimes.
Now seems my two main chars and new warden are unplayable/stuck, and Vvardenfell seems unplayable, dont want to take more chars there for risk of getting stuck.

hmm, propably unrelated, but I looked at your machine details @Mastahbator and I see you are finnish, so am I, playing from Finland and using finnish keyboard settings etc "stuff"...
But yeah reporting that just in case.

@Mastahbator ; found a workaround at least for me from this thread https://forums.elderscrollsonline.com/en/discussion/347288/error-can-not-connect-to-game-server-not-solved#latest
So; every time before you login or change areas in game, remove ShaderCache.cooked file in the Documents/elderscrolls/live folder, and ProgramData folder in the Programfiles(x86)/ZenimaxOnline/Launcher folder.
At least got my Char out of Pulk this way, I hope it keeps working untill this gets fixed.. Cause seems something needs fixing if messing with those files helped?
(EDIT: however, just found when re-stuck in Veloth ancestral tomb, that you maybe should not remove ProgramData if ShaderCache.cooked has not yet been generated= only remove both when both have been generated, if not, just try to exit area normally... )

@Mastahbator ; Addons like Master Merchant, FTC, LUI, etc. Though with what @Miaura found, that looks fairly promising as a work around fix.

For the record, addons are found in Documents\Elder Scrolls Online\live\AddOns.

Same problem and prolly started sametime with others 3-4days ago and i also live in Finland. this work around seems to work decently time to time. I live between Turku and Tampere im using Elisa 4G. From Elisa they said that everything should be fine but they will recheck if something is wrong that will take 1-2days.

Problem continues. I try this way that Miaura told, but didint work for me. I dont have any addons. I live between Turku and Helsinki and using Elisa 4G. I dont have problems with any other devices that use this Elisa network in my home. Other games works fine too. Server patch coming tomorrow, so thumbs up

Ok interesting, I also use Elisa 4g and I live between Turku and Uusikaupunki ! Not found any other network problems and other games work.

Yesterday I tried disabling IPv6 as suggested in this thread ; https://forums.elderscrollsonline.com/en/discussion/142393/kicked-to-login-screen-with-no-error#latest : after that I was able to login and play , enter/exit many buildings without using the ShaderCache & ProgramDataworkaround , had minimal load times and all looked swell - however when tried to switch chars went back to the error and could not load any characters anymore even with the workaround, finally gave up.

Also tried re-installing the launcher as suggested in FAQ about login issues, I moved my launcher folder and tried downloading the launcher again from my account page "download game" button, but unfortunately the installer seems to think Im about to install the whole game again= says I don`t have enough space when I have 18gb left. (Would rather not uninstall the whole game yet, especially cause I also have PTS files, would take a long time to re-download...)

hey, i am having the same issue with no fix at all, every time i try to request a character log it boots me back to the log-in screen, i have tried the fixes within this thread and still nothing

Uninstalling game doesn't work..tested that. So for now best thing we can do is wait this maintenance and hope it will fix it.
I did contact Elisa and they are checking if something is wrong with their network..and way this problem started and what happen pings going out from Finland it would seem that problem is in their network. When this problem started i had 250-500ms ping in speedtest in all out going test and inside Finland 18-25ms.. This was fixed next morning but logging issue to eso servers wasnt..so most likely Elisa fixing crew f***ed something..that wouldnt be first time :P

After todays maintenance, things are looking up for me

!
At first was not able to login from char select, but I turned off my net device manually and restarted the computer before turning it on, everything has worked normally after that for many hours, area transitions and switching chars, smooth.
Still playing with IPv6 disabled and without addons but I guess Ill try putting those on too.
