None. I hate "roles" as much as I hate The Trinity. Such a stratified, clichéd, unimaginative way to play a game - what is this, the 90's?

GW2 tried to do away with roles, and failed. They're always going to be there. No way around it. Some class will always be better off specializing in a particular role than others.

What can I say, I like to blow things up. That said, any DPS worth his salt will know how to do the other two. Nothing teaches you more about mechanics than tanking, and nothing emphasizes the importance of not standing in stupid like healing.

I like DPSing, but it's too... High maintenance, I guess.

Like, I'm never quite sure if I'm pulling my weight, and the only way to know is to get add-ons that show me the numbers, and I'd rather not do that, but when you've been fighting Droda for 45 minutes and everyone knows the mechanics, you start to wonder, "Is it me? Or is it the other guy?" I dunno, I get really self conscious about DPS.

And waiting for like a hour+ in the queue just to feel bad about myself isn't super encouraging.

Tanking an healing are much more objective.

Combat Metrics tells you what percentage of team DPS you are contributing.

Is Combat Metrics an add-on? Or some in-game command I'm not aware of?

    Tank
I only play tank. If I were to do anything else, it'd be Stamina DPS, but I enjoy tank more than anything else.

If you rated how much I enjoy each build on a 10-1 scale it'd be like this:

    10 - Tanking
    9
    8
    7
    6 - Stamina DPS
    5
    4 - Healing
    3
    2

    Tank
I prefer tanking when I can count on the dps being good. In random queues, though, that is often not the case, and tanking becomes immensely stressful for me. I can make a much greater difference to the party if I'm playing dps.

    Healer!
    So 1 /4 are tank

    Nearly 2/4 are healer

Less than 1/4 are dd since you have to have two in a dungeon.

In this reality queue times would be almost balance and the ones waiting would actually be the healers.

That definitely would be something. Currently whenever I queue as a Healer I get into a group for Pledges immediately. Not even 5 seconds in the queue.

    Tank
Tank... as long as I can tank in my normal gear setups. I like to be able to hop from soloing world bosses to tanking in vet dungeons. None of this "no-damage meatbag" nonsense. I want to be able to aggro while debuffing, take damage, do damage, and add group buffs. So, vet trials are out of the question.
Want to enjoy the game more? Try both PvP (crybabies) and PvE (carebears). You'll get a better perspective on everyone's opinion.

I can't vote :( i love my healer toons as much as my damage dealers ones... love my tank, but tanking os not really my thing, so i rather kill stuff with my dps toons and keep people buffed, healed and ressources return to them on my healers...

Never tried tanking. But healing feels to passive. I spend much of my time heavy attacking and BoL when needed. Meanwhile dps go in kicking ass and taking names. And I cannot tell you how many times i have queued into a vet dungeon and get stuck with 2 dps that spam light attacks thinking they are doing something. Dps for life!

I love being a Tank for many reasons. I get sick and tired of being the DPS and having the lack of not doing enough damage hard and lack of not being fast enough, and when I'm a healer I get sick and tired of other players staying in damaged areas and crying about not getting healed.

In vet dungeons, assuming the tank and healer are cp160 and know what they are doing, the success and flow of the encounters are in the hands of the DD.

Ok, so based on this poll where duh *** are all the tanks/healers when Im q'd up for a random? There needs to be twice as many dps anyways! Probably more f'ed up group finder issues. But man, when I q in with my tank it pops up in no time.

There's a simple answer to why the poll has such an abundance of healers and tanks, compared to what can be seen in the game and I'm confident I know it, although I'm still new to this one (because it's the same in every mmo). :)

DPS is - and always will be - the "standard" role. Hitting or shooting stuff is a simple, straight forward concept and the core of basically every character in single player games. That's not saying that being a good dps is easier than being a good healer or tank (that probably depends most on the game), but making the change to playing tank and healer in the first place simply takes a step into the unfamiliar that most players in any mmo just never bother to make.

And if you care enough about a game to visit the forums on a regular basis then you're simply more likely to also care enough to try different stuff, such as not just hitting things.

And that's why polls never accurately describe what the population of a game thinks or does, because most of the population never even sees them.
