Achievements have nothing to do with P2W. The great stretch people go to when calling something P2W is getting a little out of control.

Everyone is concerned about whether or not it's p2w, and I'm over here concerned about the spelling and grammar of the forums. Although, in all seriousness, this expansion wasn't p2w, and the title you get from the achievement is also not p2w. It gives no in-game advantage over another player; it's really just a title for achievement hunters, and they usually spend the extra money so they can go earn all of their achievements.

None of these gear sets are without a counterplay, though. Just because somebody has Veli or black rose doesn't mean they have such a huge advantage over everybody else that they become unbeatable. Putting new sets out in dlcs or expansions doesn't automatically make something p2w, unless these sets are the only option available to be viable. You can still be a stam dps without veli or vma weapons, just like you can still pvp without IC sets. These sets are unique and have a use, but sets like Black Rose and Imperial Physique are available in guild traders, and the vMA weapons aren't the difference between a win and a lose. It all comes down to your skill as a player in the end, and if you can't beat somebody without a dlc set of gear, then you weren't going to beat them *with* the dlc set.

On another note, while we are complaining about pvp gear behind a dlc/pve wall, let's complain about the golden vendor selling pve gear behind a pvp wall.

Pay to win what? There are measures of degree and life isnt black and white. I will not worry about an exp scroll or potion, or that they have dlcs with unique gear.

If they star selling revives, weapons and armor with op abilities then i will be angry. But an achievement.......does t bother me.

Looking at the responses, It seems you may be a lone voice or marginal outset. Just curious, ehy do you see this as some sort of injustice? I struggle to understand why this would upset someone to create a post

Some people have no idea what pay to win actually means.

However these simple fun events are great for getting people involved and having fun in the game so I think it is a poor idea for some of the achievements to be hidden behind a paywall.

Then don't buy the expansion that you think suck, don'T get the achievement and other player that paid and love the expansion, will get the achievement for you, sounds a good deal?

I still don't get what's so bad about that at all. It's true, you could get the Twice Spiked Ale from base game. I just wonder what all those completionists do with the achievements that are really hard and require a DLC. But probably those are the ones who pay 2m+ for a VMoL carry too.

They sub, complete them and unsub. Or they are already subbed and have been since release.

Yes, and there were threads calling it pay to win.
Also, maelstrom weapons are much more suited for pve. For pvp there are way better options, so they don't count.

So your point is? Heck, they could literally sell weapons with 1mil damage in the crown store and according the logic of people here - if I don't care about that part of the game, it's not pay to win? I mean, I see no other explanation. People here are saying that titles etc aren't winning and winning is killing other players, for example. But that's their opinion and what they care about. There are others, like OP, who care about achievements.

Whether YOU care or not is irrelevant. Think about others. After all, it's not like you would lose anything if they were made happy.
