Music from Gold coast location - everywhere in the world.

The only places it should be playing are The Gold Coast, Rivenspire, and the northern half of Glenumbra. If you are hearing it anywhere else, that truly is a bug. Where else are you hearing it...Mournhold and Greenshade?

    > I find it odd to hear music that was made for Abah's Landing playing when I'm in Stonefalls.

I don't completely disagree. But like you say...

    > I get that it is nice for "vanilla" players to have more fresh music

...players commented that they were tired of hearing the same small (if three hours is small) selection of music throughout the Vanilla game, so this seemed like a nice way to address that - using the new music in older areas that are a close match in "vibe". I mean while I think Abah's music works in Stonefalls, you're not going to hear it in Bleakrock. :)

The Gold Coast music also plays in Cyrodiil, but I love it. That music is perfect for traveling cross country like Cyrodiil.

The only change in music I never liked was the Hollow City change from the pretty glimmer of Hope music to the very stale "Crow's Wood" oblivion theme. I believe the music that used to play in the Hollow City currently plays in Eastmarch.

However, the music in ESO is gorgeous and I love the new Morrowind music. Love the addition of new music to old zones; brought new life into those areas.

First, I love Gold Coast theme. But after spending 5 hours non-stop in Cyrodil lately I had to turn it off, as the "tiniest violin" was driving me crazy >.< Also, I tend to associate music with the zone/game I'm in, so hearing this theme anywhere outside the Gold Coast messes with my "immershun" ;) Furthermore, it's not an easy tune, good for small zone like the Gold Coast, but really tiresome after a while.
I don't know if there is a solution to comfort everybody... I'd love to have the original soundtrack everywhere (sometimes I go to Greenshade, sit on the beach and just listen to the sea and background music to relax at the end of my gaming day), but I understand some folks can be tired of it and want something fresh.

I couldn't even tell you what music goes with what zones. I've never noticed a correlation, other than the kind of bombastic "epic stuff going on here" theme that starts up most times when I arrive in Craglorn. Maybe that's because of all of the integration of DLC themes into the base game and the fact that I've never taken the time to look up soundtrack listings and find out what tune is supposed to be associated with what. I'll obviously recognize music that I've heard before, but I feel like I've heard most of the tunes so often that I don't associate any of them with a particular zone or even a particular DLC.

And I've gotten the perma death music multiple times when I die to non-player hostiles in Cyrodiil (generally because I'm suiciding to get out of delves faster), if that helps.

I think the Coldharbor music that I heard could be the being dead music. Dunno.

In any case, you don't have to change the combat music. It already escalates the more mobs target you right? So if 1-2 small mobs target you no need for combat music. Otherwise bring on the drums of war.

As for the rest of the music, if they play at their right spots then all is well. And don't get us wrong. We love the music. That's why we are giving feedback :D

Hm. Seems like the biggest takeaways here are:

    1. There may be an issue with music playing in the wrong zones / not changing when you jump to a new zone.

    2. There's no single solution that will make everyone happy, re: what music plays in what zones.

#1 I can look into. #2 I'll have to think about some more. :)

Oh, and #3 - "bypassing combat music"...that mental debate goes all the way back to day one. One the one hand, it feels odd to me to keep playing the pretty music while you're in combat. On the other hand, when you're out adventuring you're in combat SO DAMN MUCH that it feels odd to me to constantly be stopping the pretty music. I totally get that. In fact one of the first things we did was make sure combat music doesn't play when you engage critters. But for engaging hostiles, it does play.

So...<INSERT STANDARD "I'M NOT MAKING ANY PROMISES" DISCLAIMER>...yeah, I can look into the possibility of a "bypass combat music" button. Just don't get your hopes up, mkay? :)

Orsinium music is more annoying and more pervasive across the entire game world...

also, that permanent death music bug is whenever you have to cross a zone line while dead; I.E. releasing from the surface to the sewers in IC, leaving a dungeon while dead, releasing from inside of a delve in Cryo, etc.

@SoundMaster What's the name for the new music that plays while you're at dolmens? It's really awesome.

And also, i miss hearing the Imperial Legion tune a lot more ingame. Especially in Stonefalls.

Chill out, mkay. The Gold Coast soundtrack is actually extremely nice to listen to, and I don't mind it paying in other areas. Same goes for all the DLC music. While I like much of the original ESO music, I think the DLC soundtracks were significantly better, on par with Soule and Skyrim.

If it's such a huge bother to you, just play your own music. I'm often bothered by the combat music always interrupting the nice soundtrack, so I usually just mute the game and play all the ESO soundtracks, which I have downloaded.

I think it is you, who need's a chill))) I already explained, why does it bother me so much, because it sound's almost in Every location, in EVERY bank - that's why I wonder is this normal or a bug. We all have our own opinion, and I'm not telling YOU what to do in the game, or how to listen the ambient soundtrack.
So, do what you want- mute what you want. I asked for help of the Soundmaster, that's it)

Suggestion: Combat music only plays when you are fighting bosses or doing specific events (like dolmens).

Not sure if I would like that better, but just a thought.

@Soundmaster - Brad, since we have you here... As a fellow composer and producer working in music industry for 15+ years now I'd like to give my kudos to you and your team for those two tracks:

ESO OST - "Whispers of the Ancestors"
ESO OST - "Sands of the Alik'r"

I like how those two simple themes build up in a such smart way, and while imitating their own subsequent motifs, they eventually "blossom" without being grandiloquent/pompous nor overly "decorated". Whether intentional or not, there's also a bit of lyrical EE touch there.

    Cheers!

Wow, listening to the tracks alone like that without the hustle and bustle of the in-game sound effects let's you really appreciate how great they are.

Thank you very much for understanding us!)
May be there really would be an opportunity to suit us all - make a new option in the setting menu - about choosing the way of playing music.. I have No idea how difficult it can be, that's only a suggestion and a dream..)) Thank you.

And for everyone else: As an author of this post I wanted to bring some light to the theme.. I Love all the music in Tamriel, and the Gold coast too - it is perfect for greekstyle Cyrodiil, for Imperials really. And I Love that music is changing in the locations, especially when you play in one for a long time!) But I began this post because I stopped hearing any other music EXCEPT the gold coast theme, I thought it was a bug, but reloadings didn't help, a new patch didn't help, and I've been enduring this for a very long time. That's what I tried to tell in this post, and to understand is that normal or a bug.)
Listen the music you like, enjoy the game, I'm not calling to change something that will effect a lot of people and their preferences, but I'm calling to make an option that would make playing the game more comfortable for others. I think that's Why this Forum is made! Thank you)

Not getting my hopes up, but a toggle-off for combat music would be really awesome. Would enable me to appreciate your excellent soundtrack without resorting to playing it outside the game with the game sounds off =p

I wouldn't mind some new combat music added into the game that resembles past elder scrolls games. The drums that usually play during ever encounter gets tiring and having more variety added into the soundtrack would be more tolerable than cycling through 2 tracks of combat music but having combat music one, those drums paly almost every time. Adding more combat music would help make the combat music more tolerable

It all boils down to 'too much percussion and not enough strings' in the current combat music.

Variety isn't the problem for me. It's that I'm listening and enjoying some good music in the world, then kill a wolf and epic combat music abruptly interrupts the music I was listening to. It's ok once or twice, but not 40 times in a row.

@soundmaster, here is (what I believe) an example of DB music playing elsewhere. While it's possible this isn't an error, it does seem out of place as this, again I believe, is the DB Sanctuary music playing in Forgotten Wastes.

Is there any reason not to add more legacy soundtracks from Morrowind, Oblivion and Skyrim? Feel like much more could be done in this regard.
