ESO Twink?

Back when I used to play wow there was such thing as Twink characters

Twink character is the one which is intentionally not leveled up to its max and stays at a certain lvl with top gear in slot

In the case of ESO Twink character would stay at lvl 40-49 and do non-vet campaigns with top gear on (including best glyphs / potions / etc.. i.e. full equipment)

The only problem with ESO is that you cannot stop the experience you receive from various activities. In such sense one day your Twink will go over lvl 49 & inherent all of the CPs of your main character. This consequently makes it difficult if for instance, you are farming certain armor set from a dungeon. This is because the experience you get cannot be stopped and will take you closer to becoming a Vet player & thus not able to participate in Non-Vet Campaign.
This also makes it impossible to stop at lvl 49 & only then farm the gear from dungeons, so to receive the armor at the max lvl before becoming a Vet

The whole of being a Twink is around having a better gear / glyphs / etc... than other low-lvl players & thus dominating the BGs or Cyrodiil

Has anybody tried it yet?

Frankly I would think it be better that twinks are not sustainable. Since all gear in ESO can level to your max, their main use in ESO (if viable) would be for well-equipped dedicated PvP players to grind easy rewards off of disadvantaged under-equipped levelling ones. If you can't win it fairly, you're not winning at all.

To the OP , yes players do what you described .

On a unrelated note , the only thing that name brings to mind for me is

    Twinks suck!

Before you know where you are almost everyone is at it and those that don't twink are at a disadvantage. It already exists in the game to a small extent with people that have CP of 600+ and hang around wayshrines with a freshly created level 6 dueling against level 50 CP 100 players and then trash talking them for losing to a really low level..

This does exist in the below 50 Cyrodiil campaign. It is partly why CP were disabled in that campaign. You have newly created characters go around Tamriel (easier now with One Tamriel), collecting all lorebooks and having access to Meteor at very early levels. It is of course quite a grind so it is time vs risk vs reward. You still have to craft and improve gear and deck them all out, but on the other hand, isn't being prepared half the battle?

The first time I heard the term Twink in an MMO was EQ. The practice of loading level 50 gear on a level 1 character, and single handedly owning a camp.
I'm not prejudiced; I hate everyone equally !

My first gaming exposure to the term twink was in Diablo II where it referred to equipping a newer character with top of the line gear farmed/provided by your more experienced characters.

Exactly, its pretty much have the same meaning throughout all MMO genre games

But given that you cannot stop the experience you receive, is it possible to make a twink?

The fact that you cannot stop the exp also means that it would be difficult to obtain the gear you want.

Imagine if exp could be turned off. A Twink character would stop at level 49, farm the gear he wants and get it at level 49 e.g. from dungeons.

But since exp cannot be turned off, you cannot start farming the armor sets at level 49, since you will eventually hit Vet

It somewhat exists in the game in a slightly different format. You have you gear set up from 10 to 40 or 45. Level through PvP and when the character hits max, delete and reroll to start again.

There are players that enjoy lowbie PvP campaigns and just roll a new character when needed.

What do you mean by "they have their gear set up from 10 to 40 or 45?"
Like your prepare all of the gear for each 15/10 lvls?

I can't believe how civil this has been

I know of players whom do such a thing.

Actually the best is getting your level 49 to 50 in BW and then equipping your 160 gold gear and rocking every player you meet.

Don't log out, it'll kick you from the campaign

Some have it every 10, some less. With battle leaving the closer it is to your character level the more effective it will be.

    What is BW?
The idea is, in turn, staying at non-vet campaigns with top gear on u. I am not talking about Vet or post Vet

I thought we were discussing twinks. I came armed with pictures of my Bosmer boys in their new outfits but I was mistaken.

    Thx.
My other question would be scaling. Do you know how does it work for non-vet campaigns? Say for example I am lvl 20, to what lvl will I be scaled to in non-vet campaign?
Despite the scaling system, I believe my armor sets will make a difference in my stats, right?

If you level up to inside non vet canpaifn you immediately get all ypur champ points while still inside until you log out. So you use cp160 gold gear against level 10 people.

I don't understand the allure of this, just so you can lord over lesser skilled and geared people?

That's not being good that's being a *** for no reason other than to feel big and bad about yourself
Tl;dr really weigh the fun you have in game vs the business practices you are supporting.

Isn't that the point of pvp in an mmo? It's not like an fps where every match starts off at equal equipment/ level.

Just to clarify. This has nothing to do with a Twink character. That is just an exploit to PVP I guess

My primary experience with twinks (the gaming kind ;3) was in dark souls. Equipment only had a stat requirement to wield, and upgrades did not increase it, so people would farm upgrades for low requirement and high base/low scalimg weapoms to invade (and oneshot) fresh characters on.

Does not belong in Blackwater Blade IMO, players freezing at level 49 would dumpster the learning experience for new players. The best you can do currently is crafting/saving gear for various non-cp levels to kit new toons with.

The level <49 campaign is for characters that are not maxed out. If you can level lock and stay there those characters would become unkillable by anyone that is also not maxed out.

Being a twink has never been about skill. It's always been about having better gear than the other players. WoW had it for a long time and ESO has it. I've heard players have gold gear sets starting at lvl 10 and every 4 lvls after. You run into these players in PvP and can't do anything to them. They get to lvl 50 then delete and reroll the same toon. I seen it from the players themselves say that they are on their 10th or 11th rerolled toon. There are a few of them in the under 50 PvP area. It's not really a problem that I see though, like I said there's only a few. Just steer clear of them and you don't have any problems.

Only usefulness I could see from this would be getting emp, but IIRC they removed the permanent passives from the emp line so it doesn't really matter.
