Personally I kinda wish they had left pets out of the classes entirely and instead given us some mutually exclusive world skill lines for the petmasters... an "Summoner" skill line for calling daedra, an "Trainer" skill line for calling bears and other woodland critters, an "Necromancer" skill line for caling undead... that sort of thing.
But alas, that's not how they went, and I am not arrogant enough to think they'd rebuild their game at this time... So the point is pretty moot...

Funny you should say Summoner since the new Ashes of Creation has a Summoner class as one of their initial 8 classes.

With all the talk of Necromancer I see, I was thinking it will be the next new class they create here.

This was the issue i had with the Warden... Where the $%&# is it in lore? Seeing how Necromancy is an actual thing, a school of magic (were as deadric summoning is conjuration in lore terms), why didn't we get that? Wouldnt it make more sense? in the 2/3 era isnt a big point of contention in Marrowind?

I take this as your suggesting those that voted No did so because they have a Sorc. Probably most of us have all classes.

I voted no because the poll is more about eliminating classes or at the very least eliminating any uniqueness. It's about homogenization of the game.

If you want to play with pets I suggest a Sorc. NB or a warden. I suggest alll three to get a taste of it all.

I don't want to rely on pets for damage as a mag sorc in endgame PvE but maybe that's just me. AI of pets is not something I would want to bet my bottom dollar on

    Google "Spinners of Valenwood".

Wardens drew heavily from that for their animal companion and nature's blessing trees.

I voted no for what I see as a simple reason, some classes do not lend themselves to the use of combat pets... by the same token, some do.

Sorcerers are the mage types, they summon things like fire and ice so why not a protective pet? in the normal genre, mages are squishy, granted, in ESO, the Mage (Sorcerer) can wear heavy armor and use two handed swords... why they summon daedra and not something from either another plane of existence or perhaps another place on Nirn

Wardens seem to be the Ranger/Druid types from D&D, they would be the foresters, the border guards so a natural pet would make good company...

Of all the things I have lost, I miss my mind the most...

No, there are already too many summons in the bank and crafting areas fouling up my interactions with the banker and crafting stations because I cannot target him/her/them because there is a ruddy great flapping twilight in the way.

I have nothing against pet builds per se, just make the horrible minions auto-unsummon when they are in town.

    make pets a CRIME in cities/towns ;)

I would have wished to have seen a necromancer BEFORE the warden.. I don't play SORC classes, but it's been a looong time coming, yet not delivered.

Hey, how about that jewelry crafting?

Seriously, the ability to mix and mingle skill lines for atryly unique characters/playstyles like in OBLIVION. There would have to be some serious re-balancing to keep everyone from playing the proverbial "Kwisatz Haderach", simply selecting the most OP skills from each line.

Would be sweet to make some unique "utility" builds.

    Nightblade pet:

The vile clowder: five adorable kittens follow you around, but when an enemy is within 5 meters they scratch and bite for dozens of small AOE physical attacks.

    Templar pet:

The perma Zerg: we all know that Templars get scared and lonely if they aren't in a Zerg. This pet creates three friends to follow you around. They don't do anything, they have overinflated egos, and mostly they just create lag. But they be,omg to a Templar...so what do you expect?

    DK pet:

Alduin reborn: sure it looks like a deer with wings and horns tied on with strings, but our valiant and oh-so-intelligent DKs insist this is a mighty dragon. And it does 5000 flame damage ifmyou get too close, so they might be right.

Those twilights are SO ANNOYING. They annoyed me even when I was playing a pet sorc.
Unfortunately, they can't banish the pets from towns, because there are a lot of quests inside towns where you get attacked right there in town.
I wish they could banish them from just the banks, though.

Really we do it without like, the musical instruments. This is the only musical: the mouth. And hopefully the brain attached to the mouth. Right? The brain, more important than the mouth, is the brain. The brain is much more important.

Technically all classes can have pets if they're a werewolf with pack leader morph or have sets like the Maw of the Infernal

I think having the option for unique pets based on class would be great. I'd love to see the different builds that pop up from it. Maybe like a flame atronach for DKs, Sorcs and Wardens are covered, some kind of Phoenix thing for Templars, and like a serpent for NBs. It'd be cool. And pets wouldn't all have to serve the same purpose. Maybe a serpent pet won't DPS, but having it active could increase critical strike chance. I like the idea a lot.

(to those who say it would kill class distinction, you might be looking at this a little too heavily. Does the fact that all classes can DPS "destroy class distinction?" Obviously not, and that's my point. Diversity can coexist with shared functionality.)

I think i get your point guys - there are always something that sorcs (or else) haven't like Radiant, PS, superior magicka drain Aura and more and more. Every class have some super-duper skills that other have not.

Playing as pet sorc, i will eventually start thinking like "wow, Tempers have a Sweep, they just spam it and don't give a sh* about anything". Same with other classes...

As my alt is a Pet MagSorc, I feel you would be rendering one my characters completely redundant.

Warden hardly encroaches on my role, realistically - but giving pets to everybody would be ridiculous... especially with the Necropotence set floating around... Mag builds would be everywhere and would demand atleast one pet just because people would be willing to sacrifice one ability and gear slots for that precious 4000-5000 increase in Magicka.

Also doesn't help that pets are very good at stealing aggro - if everybody had pets, combat would never be troublesome. One of the main reasons I even have a Sorc is because I consider it the 'cheese' class of the game... I would hate to see every class become cheese class.

Damn - if my Fire DK had access to pets and had a use for Necropotence, I would drop Flames of Oblivion ability and my Silks of Sun set like it was nothing because the boost and switch would make me substantially stronger.

Templar should summon Spirit of Light; a floating fiery spirit that typically is your "pet".
Dragonknights could summon some kind of drake or lizard.

Yes. Add pets for every class. Every class can heal, tank, dps, aoe.
