Free of charge RNG box, BAD IDEA

Is any1 with me on this? I am a little bitter over players that drew a 15k crown mount from that 1 single free of charge dwemer crate courtesy of ZOS. It's like ZOS hands 2 players each a wrapped gift. one of these gifts contain a check for a million dollars, while the other contains a f'ck you note..

Imo it just shows how crappy crate rng actually is.
And there's no "15k crown mounts", there are people who want those mounts so much that they're even willing to gamble to get them.

Moving away from the OP's point somewhat, "Free stuff" makes it seem all innocent and acceptable. I have zero issue with crown crates, have bought some myself, but there should never have been a "free" crate. It's obvious what they're doing. Exposing a lot more people to them unnecessarily.

I choose to buy crates because i can and can limit myself, but the entire point of any free bets is to reel people in that otherwise wouldn't put a single penny down had they not been offered a carrot on a stick. Ooooh here's what it feels like to open a crown crate.

Those who are opening one for the first time and win a prize of any great in-game value are the ones more likely to then go and a spend a helluva lot more. That's how gambling usually works.

So basically you're upset and angry because of the RNG involved with crown crates.

:shrug: Sorry, but this isn't really news to anyone who has checked any information about the crown crates. Great for people who aren't desperate for a specific prize, and don't mind adding all the costumes, hair, spines, horns, whatevers to their collections. Bad for people who do want a specific prize. There are posts and youtube vids on how many crates you'll need to get the gems to buy what you want, if you don't get it in the crates.

I preordered Morrowind. I have the crate. I have no intention of opening it. I'm going to see whether CS can just delete it from my account.

I've purchased some crates before, mostly the first wave and only because I really wanted a lightning mount for my sorcs lightning theme, didn't buy anything from the second wave, and from what I have seen of this third wave nothing interests me either.

I buy a burger from McD's, and get a free game ticket. I win another free burger, the guy behind me wins $100k. Do I get angry at the store for not giving me $100k? No.

I attend an event with door prizes. I don't win anything, the guy next to me wins a 50" TV. Do I get angry at the event for having door prizes? No.

(Seriously, the whole "interpret every single thing ZOS does as a direct attack on ME" thing is getting old. The crown crate isn't an insult, the lack of a character slot isn't an insult, the inability of a completionist to not be able to do the MW tutorial on an old character isn't an insult, the rounding of CP number isn't an insult. I'm just amazed that I haven't seen the phrase "a slap in the face" yet. /facepalm)

Kiralyn, Sure, but it's no way to make the ESO community feel appreciated imo. Don't give any1 a RNG boxx for free that you usually would have to pay money for. Becuase if you draw a 15k crown mount, that mount is basically a gift from ZOS. So it's gonna sting a little when my gift is a few useless potions.

I never saw any advertising saying you'd recieve a free dwemer crate with morrowind pre order. So if they didn't advertise it, that makes it a gift.

I buy the burger because I want the burger. If I did buy them, would I buy crown crates solely for the opening animation? Doubtful.

And then ZOS makes more money and can put more resources into developing the game I play. I see nothing wrong with that, if someone can't control themselves then all the fault to them

I received a Sadrith Mora hat (which was a nice collectible) ... but after that it was all consumables. Since I can craft all the consumables I need, these are pretty much worthless.

I've never bought crown crates, but I can see that the members of PAWS are on to something ...

Personally since I saw these boxes were included I had one wish.

That a brand new player just started ESO gets an apex mount, because that would be a great moment for a new player to come into the game with and an awesome memory for them to hold onto.

Let's not get these two confused. A "free" crown crate with pre-order can't really be misconstrued as bad, regardless what the try hards on these forums say.

However, the new CP jump points are counter intuitive and serve to do the opposite of ZoS's stated goal "Raise the floor and lower the ceiling" Not everyone tests all their CP allocations and not everyone reads forums, by adding these jump points in that MAYBE 20% of the player base is going to be aware of they're allowing players that are in the know to have a much more efficient use of their champion points, by virtue of wasting none of them.

Khajiit will explain one of her significant objections to these crates, gambling aside.

The best things in Tamriel can no longer be obtained in the store. Indeed the store has been noticeably poor since the crates appeared. Instead almost all of the desirable items are now in the crates only. We were told there would be crate exclusives yes but we were led to believe these would be the apex rewards. Now a very significant amount of items are crate only.

The design budget does not seem to be significantly going back into other areas of the game - it seems to be going right back into those crates!

The crates and the store have an influence on the design of the game. They do not think 'let's do this travellers will enjoy it'. They now think 'let's do this because we can make more money out of it'. Would housing crafting materials be so rare if not for the fact that most furnishings can be obtained more easily in the store for example?

There are several hats and hairstyles that this one would have paid crowns for. They are all crate ones though so unless older crate exclusives, not the apex stuff, starts coming into the store then they miss out on the shiny coins of khajiit.
