Maintenance for the week of April 6:
• PC/Mac: No maintenance – April 6

So are we still going through with the terrible furnishing plan price increase?

I will be spending all of my writ vouchers on furnishing plans on Sunday before the price increase arrives. The 2.5x better chance to obtain what I want is certainly better than the alternative come Monday.

Can someone explain what this means and what is changing? I normally just look at the combat stuff on the patch notes.

They're raising the price of the random purple furnishing plans sold by the Master Writ guy from 10 vouchers to 25, and they're adding the option to buy random blue furnishing plans for 10 vouchers. So lots of people will be buying purple plans before the price gets jacked up.

Thanks. As if nerfing our characters wan't enough now they are nerfing our Master Writs.

Make Rush of Agony "Monsters only." People should not be consecutively crowd controlled in a PvP setting. Period.

@MornaBaine Well they did miss the memo apparently, since they hired the person responsible for SWTOR monetization (clown crates included), didnt hey?

They should have hired the EQ2 guy instead.

At least their marketplace was less ridiculous.

What a chore this next patch is going to be.

I'll be expecting every future patch to be full of buffs because there's not much left to nerf.

    • Adjusted the drop rates for furnishing plans from Hlaalu Master Furnisher’s Documents and Hlaalu Journeyman Furnisher’s Documents to ensure each plan shows up roughly as often.
      • For example, Redguard plans will be easier to find, while Wood Elf plans will repeat themselves less often.

Is there enough testing to see if the changes are noticeable? This was posted in the 3.0.3 patch notes. When they said they increased the write vouchers from 10 to 25 they didn't give a reason, but I assume it's so that we don't flood the market with purples. A few patches later they adjusted the rates so that Redguard will be easier to find, while Wood Elf plans would repeat less often. However, they did not say that the Wood Elf plans were lowered. In other words, this leads me to think that it's a possibility that the drop rates on Wood Elf plans remain unchanged, but Redguard plans upped. If anyone would be kind enough to share their experiences while opening up several (or a few) Hlaalu Documents on PTS that would be greatly appreciated. If it is noticeable then I'd say it's worth the change, otherwise it's not.
I bought about 200 documents in PTS, and there was very little duplicates. I don't claim that was enough testing, but at least it was some indication they have actually done so.

    I'm. Still. Laughing.

Maybe they will explain to us at a future date, that nerfing is just a way to immersively emulate aging of our characters.

My understanding from what ZoS has said is that while the effective number of purple recipes will decrease, the effective number of usable recipes will either remain the same or slightly increase.

In other news, ZoS has reported that bug X is really-really fixed now and this is not like the five previous times the patch notes declared the fix is in...

The change might actually be driven by the interesting dilemma they have created in having crafted furniture unbound even after use and regardless of quality. Any crafted furniture in the game can theoretically last for the life of the game, floating from player to player as people redecorate or whatnot. By slowing down the rate at which additional crafters expand their ability to craft furniture, it theoretically creates an artifical bottleneck that delays the inevitable crash in the furniture sales economy (and crown store sales), at least for a little while. I personally think they should just make furniture account bound on placement and be done with it.

According to @Wrobel RNG is and needs to be EXCITING. With the higher voucher price you'll be getting less furnisher documents. And thus the excitement of opening each one is increased. Or something like that I'd imagine.

'Exciting' means gambling, and gambling is something I hate. There's a reason I don't have a magical green horse or a magical lightning horse. I don't have these in part because they're often too garish for anything but a mage character, and in part because I refuse to gamble for anything in the game. Gambling for pixels is the reason I've all but quit playing Star Trek Online 3 years ago. I'm sure its 'Exciting' for addicted personalities but personally I find it repulsive.

Hmm...to save or not to save. One the one hand, I can get a LOT more purples prior to Morrowind, but on the other hand, they'll probably mostly be Wood Elf. If I wait until Morrowind, I can get less purples, but have a better chance of getting Redguard. I'll still get a lot of duplicates - of the plans I've already purchased. I think I'll probably not make a decision until just before launch. I'll see how many vouchers I have before then.

For me I'm saving mine for Morrowind (got 800+ vouchers on me atm). I haven't spent it on the purple documents, just been buying what I needed and if I couldn't find it I had someone else make it for me so duplicates won't be so much a problem for me, esp next patch. Next patch I assume they also have the newer furnishing plans in the documents so that may be another reason for people to save up.

I think they realized people have started to accumulate writs and need something to spend them on. Thus, inflate the price of the higher end ones and introduce the blue ones to get the plebes introduced to the skooma.

And at this point just remove all classes and have everyone choose their set of skills. then balance accordingly to skills always used vs. skills never used.

I'm leaning toward saving mine, too, since I'm tired of getting so many Wood Elf plans. I'll get duplicates even after MW though, since I've purchased a lot of plans from guild traders.

In regard to new furnishing plans being added to the mix, I think it doubtful that they would add any of the plans that drop in MW, since it's an expansion you have to purchase. They don't want to give people who haven't purchased it a chance to get the plans unless they purchase them from other players.

It's perfectly in keeping with the PvE and PvP changes - punishing anyone who isn't in the top few percent of each in-game system by moving the finishing post further away instead of actually making new content.
