Do you kind of go with it or grind your characters to achieve maximum level the quickest way?

Used to be slow as hell to level up any character in PVP. Around launch it took me about 6 months or just to reach the first Veteran Rank.

At some point I tried grinding a few other characters to VR 16 but got bored and just stopped playing them until the Champion System was added.

These days leveling up is fast enough that there is not really any need to grind anymore unless you are trying to farm some specific set or quickly reach max CP. Just playing the game normally in PVP or doing quests, you can reach level 50 in a week or two. I suppose it's still a bit tedious to collect all the skyshards and lore books.

I find that just rolling with a new character helps with collecting the skill points - you also clear some group dungeons, find skyshards, collect main story skill points, etc. Power leveling can leave you way short on skill points.

If you are rolling a new type of character, it also assists with testing weapon skills and learning how best to use the characters abilities.

I figured I'd be grinding at some point but I recently hit 550 CP and by the looks of it, I'll hit 600 (or whatever the next cap is, I assume 639) soon enough without a grind. Which I'm glad for.

I'm happy that ESO has enough content to get us to CP 600 with none to minimum grinding

I played through the full campaign with a character of each alliance. One has also completed gold, another almost completed silver. No grinding on those three.

I also using grinding on 5 alts during double xp events, so that if I ever decide to play through the campaign with them, they can at least be earning CP as they go.

Okay, since the Morrowind patch first came out, I've ground quests. By that I mean, I pick em up and click through everything as fast as possible because I did it already with my first character (Covenant). I leveled up two sorcerers, a dragonknight and a templar. Already had a max level nightblade. Those notes scared me that I thought I better have some back up characters. One of the sorcerers is Dominion and my dragonknight is Pact. With those I read through and do all the quests available in the area I'm in.

Now this is just me but I don't think I care for the leveling experience. When I have them at max level some are geared out as I like. The certain set in the certain motif. The whole look is done. The skills are done, I just have to decide which to use. That way I get to concentrate on the quests. When they made One Tamriel, I don't really see the point of levels. They don't determine content that may be above your current ability. Or below. So I just ignore it.

But I got to max level on those just so I could have characters to swap in and out with who won't be having gear drop that is useless to me. Now, no matter who I play, my drops are going to be more likely to be used. At least more than the sub level 50 gear that I would just deconstruct.

I have 1 character that has finished Gold, one that's starting it 1/5 zones, 2 that are working through Silver and then 3 characters that I leveled mainly attending guild events where we run around killing things and getting skyshards and public dungeons (and lately Guild dailies as well because of the motif pages).

Only time I could say I went grinding was when my sorc was level 45-ish and I wanted her to get to 50, so I went to Cyrodiil and tried to complete the delves where the bosses are stubborn to spawn, killing everything in my path while I waited.

    Never really deliberately grinded.

My main (my lovely gloriously underpowered nightblade) has done nearly everything - 'cept group dungeons & craglorn as just can't cope. Got him to VR16 by questing / zones / guilds alone.

My alts are varied. 2 max ones have done home faction & main & mage/fighters quest lines. Another max got there only by doing faction quest line only - not even finished main! And another got max by doing Thieves & most of DB & some faction/ main......seems to be far easier to level just by quests etc than when first doing it!

But have never wanted or needed to grind. One Tamriel actually made things easier as can jump around zones so doing quests on alts doesn't get too repetitive.

I did not grind at any point. No Dolmen groups and definitely no staying in same place killing same mobs over and over. All I did was run around and mainly farm Skyshards, finish all Delves & Public Dungeons (can solo with templar, not with NB), and do some main quests to mix things up when I felt like it. Oh, and if I happen to run into WB/Dolmen with some people in it I'd jump in to get it out of the way.

Yes, this is pretty it for me as well. I don't join any grind group either, i.e. dolmen, bear, dreugh, Skyreach, world bosses, whatever. I have 10 toons now and 8 are practically maxed out, all done sololy. It is actually better leveling your second and consecutive toons.. well, if your first toon is maxed out CP. Your consecutive toons literally jump to maxed CP (thanks for this ZOS/dev. Hey, I give credits/kudos when due) or to whatever level CP your first toon is when it reach level 50. Even with my first toon, I had soloed all the way up to the previous V16 and completed all Cadwell's good experience. Pretty much now, with leveling of new toons, I'm just passing the time and trying to enjoy whatever left is enjoyable of ESO until suddenly that day comes when I finally rage quit.. freakin beeping *beep* nerfing.. dammit man!

If I had people to grind with on a consistent basis I would probably do it. I am trying to get more involved in guilds now for this reason. I am CP 332, have 2 50 characters, and 32 sorc I am leveling now. My usual routine is log in, complete random dungeons, complete pledges, then quest if I still feel like playing. I guess you could consider that "grinding", but I do not.

I got more than 900 cp from just questing (got 12 characters though), and never saw the point of grinding: it just does not seem fun. I already have a full time job and a home to manage, don't need a second one in ESO.

Each day I decide what character to pick and what activity to do then: sometimes I do some crafting, sometimes I queue up for pledge dungeons, sometimes I join a few guildies and friends if they're doing something fun (hunting for skyshards in Cyrodiil with baby alts, or World Boss runs for the zone achievements, or Imperial City sewer expeditions...). Or just quietly explore and enjoy the quest dialogue. Or listen to what unimportant NPCs have to say (a few are really funny). It seems like a waste to have thousands of hours of recorded dialogue that hardly anyone listens to because they're speed grinding to get to the next repetitive activity.

I've grinded every character I have, I've never beaten the story. I knew I wanted to do trials when I started the game and that's all I've ever been interested in. I played through like half the story once and got bored, so I just memorized skyshard/lorebook locations for when I make a new character.

My opinion - Grinding is the fastest way to level. The most enjoyable to level is through quests.

I have two accounts. One is full of 600+ CP characters (12). The new account has one character that is only CP 40 (I made it Saturday; so it took me 4 days). For that character I did the main story quest, the alliance main quest (for the home alliance), the mages and fighter guild quest line, and closed all of the dolmens for "Savior of Nirn" achievement/title. That got me to 50.

For the CP on the second/new account, I spent about 2 hours grinding dolmens. I suspect that with my Warden, I will just grind dolmens as I am comfortable with it and it is low risk (on my primary account...getting to capped CP took a bit of effort!). I know others will say "there are faster ways to grind", but that's their opinion - I know what I like.

Its all about the journey, in a lot of MMOs I find the experience to reach end game to be more fun than being at end game.

Main is a NB in DC with 200+CP but I've stopped most progression (Cadwells Silver) because I have a Sorc toon in AD and a DK toon in EP I want to experience their story lines on first. Currently playing through the EP stories now. Though I do spend a bit of time on my main doing the DLC when I have the opportunity. Templar is also in DC so by the time the others have gone through their stories that will be fresh enough again to enjoy.

I went through the story completely on 2 characters, and when DLC comes around, go complete it on them again. My other 6 characters, I found great places to grind, and go from 1-50 in a couple of days. Now that Tamriel is not locked behind Story-Wall, why do any of the story until you are 50 anyways? Useful XP to contribute towards CP's (benefits all characters), all gear found and rewarded is CP 160 level, etc etc...

I started with console launch so quests are a bit boring now. I have the 1000 quest achievement on my main and not looking to get it on every toon I roll. Vet ranks required grinding until they changed that.

Honestly now I feel hitting cp160 for the gear cap is plenty especially with incoming CP nerfs for the non vet trial leaderboard crowd.

    You need an 'other' option.

The good thing about hitting L50 (assuming you're also >CP160) is that all gear is now accessible to all characters, so getting there in a hurry has benefits.

The side thing is that you'll still have to collect more shards, lorebooks, etc.

So, while you can get to 50 in an instant, I have a feeling it probably averages out about the same either way.

I go with the game and quest through content.

Besides being an achievement Junkie, I hate unexplored maps. I have three (soon 4) of my 5 chars in the top 100 achievement point list of ESO-datebase.com. If you quest through Cadwell's Gold a 4th time you will be very fast at that and it feels like grind though, so I guess there is not much of a difference.

First step, go all over Tamriel collecting skyshards/lore. Second, go to Cyrodiil to rank up alliance skill line/get to level 50. Third, queue for dungeons/do daily quests to rank up skills really quickly with all the built up enlightenment. Random dungeon queue + being a dungeon your character hasn't done yet + enlightenment is a huge xp boost! That's why I leave them to do after 50.
