Why no Crit Surge on Pet Builds?

Im changing my sorc to a pve pet build but
I looked up somr builds like alcast and other ones how come they all dont have crit surge slotted?
Doesnt that give you major sorcery and other buffs to you and your crit? How come theu dont use it????
Also they dont have inner light slotted either doesnt that give u a buff to crit too? And max magicka hmm i thought those 2 were very important?

replace execute with it and done
if u want the crit then instead damage shield slot inner light, but all in all,, what you saw is mostly a trial build where spell power potions are mandatory

It's your character not Alcasts. Read the spell description, all the information is right there. You can use both inner light and power surge if you want to.

Being pedantic but you mean Power Surge, Crit Surge doesn't help you in a Pet build.

It may also be bar space, and totally depends on content.

But as above - its your build just find your own way ignore the Streamers / Meta chat etc. find what works for you

Not slotting major sorcery/brutality is one of the reasons I never use alcast's builds as a template. He has some good points on gear, but his skill choices are always bizarre to me. In my opinion, it's absurd relying on potions for spell power. Especially when trials, dungeons, and arenas can go on for so long the sheer amount of potions to use is insane (you're literally chugging your gold). Slot your surge and put inner light on whichever bar you use the most (can double slot it but that's really restricting your build unless you use overload). You may have to forgo a skill like curse, execute, or ward but you do fix your problem.

It's not really bizarre. He's into endgame content and he makes builds for high tier endgame content, squeezing every last bit of dps possible. You don't want to a waste a slot on a buff you can get by using a potion when you're doing that.

But catch is a lot of the times when people copy a build they do so without really understanding the reasoning behind it, they just, well, copy. What people often miss is it's not a holy order to live by, it's a build made for a rather specific scenario by a person of very specific skill level(that is, very high in Alcast's case

). This is what you do if you want to squeeze that every last dps digit out of your character. If this is not your ultimate goal atm, adjust this build for your needs. You don't have potions to waste? Slot Surge/Entropy. You're dying with 10/10 dps skills on your bar? Replace one of them with a shield. You're in a dungeon with potato pug and healer has a greatsword and hasn't the foggiest about heals? Slot Twilight Matriarch if you have that morph(also works great for offhealing on ROM hm and stuff like that) or hell even grab a resto staff if there's absolutely no getting through it without those extra heals.

And yes, endgame dps chug potions like candy - on cooldown.

To OP, like been said, only buff you can't get from pots is Inner Light's max magicka. But Bound Armor gives slightly more magicka I think and there's simply no slot left for Inner Light probably.

It is important to see whether a build is built for group/trial ove, solo pve or pvp in addition to its role.

In g/t pve your healing and tanking support reduces your defensive demands and the importance of burst.

The other content, not so much.

7% with Mages Guild Passive for Inner Light, 8% for Bound Aegis, the morph I use. I prefer Inner Light myself for the extra spell critical.

Well the pets take room on your skill bars and you need to sacrifice some useful skills for it.

Yup. 1% more magicka. Which is probably why it gets priority over Light XD Plus sorc spelldamage passive for slotting a sorc skill.

I prefer Light because it doesn't need to be toggled so I can only slot it on one bar. Also that "I have purple lightbulbs sticking out of my eyes" effect on Bound...no thank you -__-
