Guards should not kill on sight , there's no good or lore reason for them to. The combatants have agreed to engage in an honorable fight to the death.

If for some reason it's at a merchant in the middle of nowhere, you're not going to be there that long so just ignore it and leave.

You people calling for this removal/change really have no leg to stand on. The impact dueling has on you is very minimal unless you've got a garbage pc or garbage internet. In that case don't try to take content from us because you can't run it.

Although as I said in my other comment, if it's on console then that's something that should be considered for console only since you can't help it.

I would kind of like it restricted in where it can happen so that the wayshrines are less crowded. I know I am not being hit by duelists if I walk through the middle of them but I would think they would be irritated by people standing in the middle of their duel so why set it up at a wayshrine, or crafting spot or in the crossway between the foot of a bridge and the only path away from said bridge, all of which I have been in the middle of.

But if there would be some arenas outside cities on certain zones like 1 for each alliance , with daily quests for example "win 10/20/50" duells with some AP or gold or set piecesd rewards that would be nice and would remove many people from duelling inside cities which is sometimes annoying.

Nope. Not at all. One of the most fun aspects of the game is dueling with friends for giggles. Especially if you pick unusual spots. For example on some random cliff where if you fall off, you're dead from fall damage. Most fun I've had recently was dueling a friend in her house. Rules were that you had to stay on the upper level of the home.

It should only be restricted. Ideally dueling should only happen in dueling arenas where you can spectate, bet, and compete in leaderboards for items or gold. Though I can understand people's frustration with dueling when a few duelers end up crashing ESO for half the people in mournhold.

One way to get it out of busy locations would be to allow for the duelers AoEs to hit nearby NPCs and trigger the justice system.

I think it's silly for a guard to just walk through the middle of a duel inside the Wayrest Bank Arena.

Here's the fix for it, make it so that players have to be at least 110 meters away from any given wayshrine to be able to duel. Why 110 meters? That's well above the draw distance for things.
