Please define "loyal player" in your own words.

I would say loyal is a person who sticks with the game through good and bad times. They also voice their opinion during the bad times, but offer something in the way of constructive feedback. They don't threaten to quit or walk away. Also they let the developers know when they do good things.

A loyal player is not always the same as a loyal customer.

A loyal customer will continue to buy your product well after you make mistakes. They trust that you will do right in the end, or perhaps you have built up a reputation with that customer in which doing business with you even after you messed up once or twice is ok because you have always taken care of them or kept them happy. Examples: People who play anywhere from all the time to almost never but consistently pay a subscription fee or continue to buy all the latest content as soon as they hear about it's release regardless of how much they plan to play it.

A loyal player is someone who will continue to play your game well after the content has gotten old. These people may or may not hate the development team associated with the game but regardless still love the game itself. They will lessen/restrict/abstain from playing the games of your competitors either because they love your game so much, or they just hate your competitors games. Examples: That guy who started during or shortly after launch and continues to login 2-3 times a week even when he knows there is nothing new waiting for him. Fanboys of the franchise. Die hard franchise role players.

Let's be honest. Given the state of the game, anyone still left has gone beyond loyal and is bordering on fanaticism.

The game has ongoing bug issues. Broken content. Unplayable endgame content. ZERO guild support of functions. Customer service is a joke. All ZOS is doing at this point is pure cash grabs with re-skinned mounts and armor. There are game breaking bugs and farms that can be exploited for years now.

Morrowwind is a pure cash grab and might actually kill the game. Why exactly are we paying 60 usd when ESO plus was meant to give access to "all future content" call it whatever you want it's a dlc. And a new trial? Really? The old ones don't even work and you want to put another one in there? I want the number to your drug dealer ZOS, because that is some premium stuff you're smoking.

I've been here since beta. And yes there have been some great improvements. But let's not forget the fact that this is a product that people pay for. And if you can't deliver consistent and reliable results they will go elsewhere. And they don't deliver. So many people are leaving.

You tell me ZOS. what exactly does Morrowind offer an endgame player? Beyond spending more money on a game that lacks the very basic quality of life features found in EVERY other MMO? Your better sneak some great stuff in there. I'm specifically looking for features to help manage guilds and make the community easier to navigate and manage for the dedicated players who still (beyond all reason) care about what you are doing to the game.

We should never show loyalty to companies. We don't owe them it. Why would you put faith or loyalty in a company? a business?

The sooner people stop taking pride in their "loyalty" the sooner we can expect better products from companies as they try to earn that loyalty

If you want a breakdown of current worth talking about mmo's in my opinion, based on the average player population they have or had once possessed:

WoW: Loyal customers but disloyal players....They will buy all the new content play it for a little bit get bored...then bail, rinse and repeat every expansion past WOTLK or in some cases BC for some of their loyal customers.

GW: Disloyal Players, Disloyal customers..... GW is pretty much most peoples go to game for when they get tired of their main MMO, yet GW is very rarely someones primary MMO. Please don't respond with a comment stating how you know some people who all the play is GW...this is my generalization based on majority gamer population.

FF14: Loyal Customers, Semi-Loyal Players.... FF14 is on the verge of breaking WoW's subscription numbers, this can only be done by a loyal customer base. However what seems to be up in the air is whether or not the player base is loyal. The developers tend to release new content routinely and frequently so it's really hard to determine how loyal these players are considering they get new content at faster rates than any other MMO currently. If ever a time comes that content slows down...that would be the time to gauge their player loyalty.

ESO: Disloyal customers, disloyal players....New patch? They're quitting. New expansion? They're quitting. Remove the the subscription fees as an attempt to bring players back? Still quitting.... ESO while it does have its loyal customers and its loyal players...is plagued by a majority of the opposing. Numbers have spiked greatly with console support and hopefully One Tamriel truly becomes One Tamriel with the joining of consoles and pc's on one server (it worked for FF14)....the fun we will have, the arguement's we will see ^_^.

Loyal doesn't mean you stick with something that treats you poorly or changes what made you love it in the 1st place. That would be like falling in love and marrying someone then staying married after they continue to cheat on you or stop caring about you.
I was loyal to this game for a long time but I think this is the final straw for me. I will test the water in june but I'm almost certain I won't like how it feels.

I think anyone that has been here since open beta can be classed as loyal even if they do decide that with the Morrowind patch, they've had enough and they are off.

So many things have happened, promises gone back on, nerfs, bugs, lag etc etc etc, anyone that's stuck it out through all that is in my opinion loyal.

But everyone has a breaking point and there comes a point where its time to leave. Loyal to me has different meanings in the context its used. This is a game, not for example your local football team you've been supporting all your life.

Personally I'm not loyal, left in the past when PvP became too laggy to play, and while I've no plans to leave at the moment, a game could appear in a few months that changes my mind.

What I don't understand (but of course its their choice to do so if they wish) are those players who treat Zenimax a bit like one of their actual family rather than what they are, a business. Those who when something happens that get a large proportion of forum members complaining, create thank you threads to Zenimax, telling them how great they are and calling the complainers the usual list of names.

It just seems a really odd thing to do. When I had a problem a few years back with my *** TV, I and others complained about it. Everyone on ***'s forum knows what a great picture the TV has, they know all its good points, other forum members didn't come along and call us doom mongers etc (and a lot of us said it was the last *** product we would buy).

Likewise we know how awesome many parts of this game is, the forum would be a gut wrenching place to read if every person unhappy with something started their post and aired their complaints by saying

"Firstly I would like to congratulate the devs on a job well done. Today I have been doing a bit of PvP, and some farming around the lakes of crag, and the work you put into those areas, well you should be proud, and as for the water effects, stunning. I would also like to give a huge thanks to the forum moderators for the superb job they do, and I hope Zenimax don't take what I'm about to say too personally.

I'm very sorry to have to bring this up again, I hope I don't cause you any undue stress or make you think I don't appreciate all the hard work you've done in ESO, I really do, and I have the utmost respect for all ESO employees, however, I'm sorry to have to say, I'm still finding PvP unplayable at times due to the lag. Again I hope I'm not offending you by bringing this to your attention again, I know you are all working very hard on many different things, its just if you could find a little time in your busy schedule to have another look at the lag problems, it would really help me and many other players. Thankyou for taking the time to read this."

Zenimax are a business who like most businesses are out to make as much profit as possible. If I think they have screwed up, if i think they are being unfair to their long term customers, I will say so.

That's kinda part of being a loyal lover, sticking with them even when times are bad. Even downright atrocious.

Loyalty has little value to me here. This is a game, not a nation-state or political movement. A person might feel a sense of it because they spent a considerable sum on the crown store, but I certainly wouldn't describe anyone who gives up as somehow lesser. Everything has a breaking point.

    Wow....and I thought I was a bit obsessive.

I only have two subbed accounts, 9 on one 10 on the other, only ordered Morrowind once (so far). Mostly on PC/NA, on PC/EU have 2 characters and then 1 character.

No idea on hours played since I don't access it through steam (which would have made it easy to keep track).

    My hat's off to you!
Tenesi Faryon of Telvanni - Dunmer Sorceress who deliberately sought sacrifice into Cold Harbor to rescue her beloved.
Hisa Ni Caemaire - Altmer Sorceress, member of the Order Draconis and Adept of the House of Dibella.
Broken Branch Toothmaul - goblin (for my goblin characters, I use either orsimer or bosmer templates) Templar, member of the Order Draconis and persistently unskilled pickpocket
Mol gro Durga - Orsimer Socerer/Battlemage who died the first time when the Nibenay Valley chapterhouse of the Order Draconis was destroyed, then went back to Cold Harbor to rescue his second/partner who was still captive. He overestimated his resistance to the hopelessness of Oblivion, about to give up, and looked up to see the golden glow of atherius surrounding a beautiful young woman who extended her hand to him and said "I can help you". He carried Fianna Kingsley out of Cold Harbor on his shoulder. He carried Alvard Stower under one arm. He also irritated the Prophet who had intended the portal for only Mol and Lyris.
    ***
Order Draconis - well c'mon there has to be some explanation for all those dragon tattoos.
House of Dibella - If you have ever seen or read "Memoirs of a Geisha" that's just the beginning...
Nibenay Valley Chapterhouse - Where now stands only desolate ground and a dolmen there once was a thriving community supporting one of the major chapterhouses of the Order Draconis

I don't see the point in being "loyal". As long as I enjoy the game and feel it is worth the cost, I will play when I have time. I enjoy it and it is now B2P, so playing is a no brainer. I am selective about when I spend money on the game. I wouldn't even consider maintaining a sub year round, though I felt it was worth it for 1 month to manage rewards from anniversary event and to get DB skill line on some more characters, including my main. I will get Morrowind at some point, but not yet. If people ask me if the game is good, I say it is great. I have played since beta, but I only subbed 3 additional months (post month included with purchase) at launch and stopped when I had finished all the initial content since I had no interest in repeating myself.

Am I loyal? I don't know. I don't seek to be. But I enjoy the game. If I didn't, I would spend my time in a different (single player) game.

Hi Bethesda, I am a very loyal player, I know everything about the oblivion series. I've even been here since way back at the launch of oblivion on Xbox. I've spent loads of time and, heh, well money on everything oblivion related. I even bought fallout: new vegas even though it wasn't my favourite in the series.

Anyway, I just wanted to say that the recent natch potes (see what I did there, heh) made me very sad. And since deltia was upset also I must really know what I'm talking about. I levelled a Templar to be a healer and now he won't be the best healer he can be because the warden is coming with ESO 2 and he will probably, maybe, be an even better healer. I guess I will have to level another character up to 24 like my main. Well, I hope you can change the changes back so as not to change the way I play currently. Thanks.

    I love you.
