How viable has heavy armor remained with sustain changes? [PvP]

Have the sustain changes made heavy armor not viable for magicka characters or has light armor become necessary? What about stamina characters and medium? What have your dueling experiences been?

The only setup that will be able to run heavy armor is Stam Sorc, due to Dark Deal. No other class has the ability to sustain in heavy and will be out of resources in seconds.

They should just revert the Constitution nerf and nerf Dark Deal. Even then, it would still be really hard to run heavy with all of the resource management changes.

Yes, light armor will be better for magic.

It is too soon to tell. But one thing is for sure 1vX-ing will be much harder in morrowind.

While 1v1 in heavy will be as reliable as before - but you'll need to add full heavy attaks in your combos of course. DK and Sorcs will have advantage because of roots they have. If you land a HA that was rolldodged then root the enemy in 2 seconds and go for another heavy attack - if they rolldodge again then it will cost lots of stamina to them.

I can see it still being good for Magplar and MagDK with heavy Seducer, coupled with Transmutation or BSW respectively.

HA atack with staves are only opener attacks... We can't use a HA with staves in middle of a fight... It takes ages.... In the meantime we could be stunned or killed...

You can heavy attack if the opponent has no stamina to get out of cc. There is going to be a whole new dynamic to PvP. I actually think that fights will probably last longer as people won't want to burn resources trying to down the opponent and will spend more skills and resources on self preservation.

Should be interesting to see how it plays out. It should be a good change as classes shouldn't be able to stack damage + survivability + full self sustain.

Heavy armor passive rapid mending increases magicka/stamina restored with heavy attacks by 50%, so be ready for heavy attacking zergs in heavy armor. IMO this passive looks really out of place after recent changes to sustain.

RIP heavy armor. A 40 plus percent nerf... sounds great if you like nerfs.
Sorcerna, proud beta sorc. RIP April 2014 to May 31 2016 DArk Brotherhood. Out of retirement for negates and encases. Sorcerna will be going back into retirement to be my main crafter Fall 2018. Because an 8 k shield is f ing useless. Died because of baddies on the forum. Too much qq too little pew pew. 16 AD 2 DC. 0 EP cause they bad, CP 2300 plus 18 level 50 toons. NA, PC, Grey Host#SORCLIVESMATTER actually they don’t or they wouldn’t keep getting nerfed constantly.

If (Morrowind: When) you run out of resources, all your resistances won't help you. Heavy armor was strong because of it's non recovery based resource return, a marvelous synergy with low costing block, cheap skills and self healing received.

These aspects have all either been significantly nerfed or completely removed.

Okay people before everyone looses objectivity let examine a few things. When this game launched the champion point system did not exist, if you wanted sustain you used sets seducer on the magika side is a good example. the cp system has made us lazy as players. Learn to play smarter not harder. I will state that I am not thrilled with many of the changes especially for stamina builds. With that said those of us that main a stamina based tank will figure out how to balance what we have to work with. whether it be a set that has Regen and a combination of trait pieces and shadow ward. ZOS would do well to say it like it is don't use carefully chosen words to call a nerf a buff. Many classes are being hit hard and the player base is not pleased. But instead of going on a rant and making a video announcing to the world we are no longer supporting this game we shall endeavor to strengthen this community and lets be honest, thing like the before mentioned quitting rant serve no purpose aside from displaying a persons maturity level.

Lastly as we the people, test and write our comments to ZOS remember it is not set in stone until it is. Maybe next time when I post I will share a tale from a place we fondly came to know as Louisiananstan circa 2005 post Katrina.

    Have a good one peoples

Damage going to he way to high for people to run medium or light its a reason why on sorcs can run light now.People are going to be forced to run heavy still just to survive.

I tried running several 5H setups (including Black Rose w/ regen glyphs) on my Stamplar in PTS PvP and it was a real struggle. I also tried several different 5M setups and I just felt like I was getting blown up and rekt fast. Incoming damage and burst in general is too high not to run heavy... it's going to take a while to find a workable balance between my sustain and damage output.

I'm really surprised they nerfed sustain so hard - I really like how the game balance feels in Azura's Star on Live. I wish they wouldn't be nerfing things beyond that level. I especially think the amor passives should not have been touched.

Eh, if you're in medium, Sorcs will tear you apart. If you're in heavy, Sorcs will still kill you, it will just take a little bit longer. It's sort of a "damned if you do, damned if you don't" kinda situation. Making build choices based off that monstrosity of a class is irrelevant.

If you can hit with the heavy attack, your sustain is fine. But remember that it takes about two seconds to land a heavy attack. So you get cc'd or immobilized, or a snare gives him time to move away, or a sentient add on like miat's allows opponent to avoid it, you have no DPS or sustain. So it's all going to be skill and knowledge. I guess I like it.

These aspects are making it way too easy to be unkillable in Cyrodil. Its way too noobfriendly, allowing so many mistakes without being punished.

Also some sets push healthregen etc. way too far.
Zos should look into stackable stuff and make some things not able to stack.

    really?

funny, talking about pve, my magsorc takes a dps and sustain hit...but...im really not suffering even in no-cp...but then, unlike a huge % of the players today, i started at launch before cp, so lack of cp dosnt throw me off as badly as it does other people who never played without cp...

i have to heavy attack when dealing with swarms of trash mobs, didnt have to before, but. im thinking tossing prismatics on my julianos+twilight heavy armor combo would help alot honestly.....sadly they arent cheap at all..bah!!!

i could just go back to willows path as my main set to makeup for lost regen, that would lower my dps but my sustain and surviveability would go way up...

all this really does is make it so all the content takes longer.....as part of trying to balance pvp without separating it from pve....

but people spendign 3-5x as long to do the same content is an excellent thing, means they run out of content alot slower...so the themepark dosnt have to add new attractions as quick.....

sledge hammer changes every 3-6 months also helps make content last longer, so they dont have to add new attractions to the theme park and can focus on cash shop items, that will be more popular among people starting out for the first time, since..they will need pots and whatever other help the shop can give them...

Lol I'm just wanting to let the people know that their preferred armor weight isn't dead, and to stop worrying. Yeah it's going to be tougher, but it's going to be tougher for everyone
