They did, and then people complained NA players would have a headstart on EU players in terms of "first clears"...
Most games do the maintenance at different times per region.
Hell, even WoW has separate maintenance for the Aussie servers.
So It's a whole day maintenance now! (EU time) server are offline from this morning!
A one day time refund -for ESO member -would be really appreciate!
Cheers!
No they couldn't. It's now 1 client install for both NA and EU, so any time they do a patch maintenance it has to be done at the same time for both EU and NA. Back when you had a separate client install for each megaserver they could do patch maintenances at different times.

In short, we ran into an issue and are currently estimating wrapping up around 3pm EDT today (in about 4.5 hours).

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=O8_nWk4qtAU I can't say for sure why they changed it, but my guess is that it was for 2 main reasons:No they couldn't. Could you hold the answer in why they changed that?Seems we would be better off with that schedule ^^

But of course, for those who do not understand anything programming, easy to complain.

- So players who want to play on both megaservers don't have to have ~ 120GB of HD space used up by having 2 installations
- To make client/server version control easier to keep on top of

If what you mean by that is that there are pros and cons to each approach, then yes. There are advantages and disadvantages to requiring 2 separate installations for the 2 megaservers. So either way it's a lose lose situation for the player:P

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=vqNcyFNMfLM Ready yourselves Since the servers were fine at the moment you took them down, the time-honoured "if it ain't broke don't fix it" would seem to ably apply.ZOS_GinaBruno wrote: »Hey guys, just posted a thread about today's PC maintenance here: https://forums.elderscrollsonline.com/en/discussion/338710/extended-maintenance-on-pc-4-24-17

In the mainframe world "preventative maintenance" is usually viewed with horror by users, it's the time their nicely running system is taken down by the engineers only to be broken for umpteen hours afterwards .. did ZOS hire some old IBM/Unisys/etc. engineers for their servers?
The server was not fine. There was a error 200 that was causing a lot of problems for lots of people.
think they are using some apple crap server....
or IBM crap....
get some decent servers #¤%&/#¤%&/&%
