People like you is what's ruining the community and the company. Zenimax is doing good, that almost cracked me.
You probs have no clue of what im talking about if u say the competition is graphically unappealing, not gonna mentiona anything cus thyre gonna delete it. But you simply can't say that.

Im an AI and gameplay programmer. I know Zenimax is doing good. Small team, size of the game, bugs being fixed, game being turned around, expansion coming out, new DLC constantly, housing, ESO+. You look at one thing and cry the sky is falling. Go enjoy those games, come back when their launch was bad. All games launch horribly. I've been here since launch I'm amazed at the turn around, but dread most patches after 1.5 for PvP.
Do you even pvp? Or pve? or anything with combat? or just ERP? All they release is new content that requires more money, meanwhile leaving bugs in game. Next patch if they dont change w**** wet dream, the combats gonna be completely ruined, classes are gonna be vanished. They know their playerbase is shrinking. And are trying their best to hide it.
And btw, its not esos launch period atm, its more than 2 years later.
There's no point in continuing this convo, we clearly have different opinion. You can be a programmer and eso sub all you want. Other people are too. Let's just end it here.
why cant they do maintenance at night , when most players are offline.
I'm PM for some software company. And sh*t happens, yeah. But, if it is, then everything goes back to previous state (they did backups right? Did they?) and new patch goes to dedicated server for more testing.Being a computer programmer with some dabble in hardware, I know exactly how 'issues' can come up during maintenance.
Computers, servers, hardware, etc. all doesn't 'just work'. You put even a single character in the wrong place and all poop breaks loose.
hahahahaha what a joke of a company
you cant even post the patch notes, cus you know ppl will get enraged by the 3 audio bug fixes after so long
this is the legit the most incopetent, greedy company i've ever come across. You rly should rethink ur strategy, cus new games are coming out following this year, competition is gonna be far superior and u wont be able to survive. You can have 30h mainternce if you like. More and more ppl are leaving the game cus thy're losing faith in you. Enjoy
Dude? Small team>? Seriously they bought bethesda when beth tried to buy out zeni, they ain't small just don't have a clue what made the ES games so special, being able to play any character you wanted, and use any skill you wanted, not forcing us into playing a class, thus restricting our playstyles. The engine isn't even theirs, so yeah they make good use of an engine not even designed for a game of this scope. Whilst I have really enjoyed ESO in the past it has burned me out twice, and every time I come back I find I have to rethink my builds cos of all the nerfing as they are unable to balance anything in the game. Graphically compared to BDO the upcoming MMO'S Bless online, Dark and Light, Pillars of Creation it is very very dated even the lighting is bland to put it bluntly, but I still come back more so because of the community and the guilds I run and belong to. The whole debate between all the nerfing due to pve vs pvp well solution isnt exactly rocket science, as pvp is instanced leave the cp system alone just have it disabled when entering cyro, re enable when you leave, sorted, forces pvp players to be more mindful of their gear like we pve players have to be. Btw bugs arent being fixed properly, every 'patch' just introduces new ones because they don't test properly and never take on board the majority of player feedback

Customer are always right. Dev's troubles are only dev's troubles and must not be curstomer's

That depends. You have inside scoop it is a development issue that is 100% solely related to software? And what sort of back ups do you KNOW they have? Do they back up the game state, the game version, the supporting software? Do they swap out hard drives on every server and store them or do they create images? If they create images, what software do they use and how are those images stored?
Did the hamster die? Did the intern spill coffee in a server again!?!?
My god. The HORROR. A few extra hours of downtime on a Monday due to an unforeseen issue. If my eyes could roll any faster, I'd strap magnets on them and wrap 'em in wire to power my state.

This is beyond a joke. The maintenance times need to be changed so that we in Europe don't ALWAYS get penalized.
I pay ESO for game time and I want money back for today.
As I cannot play I am going to work on my monumental opus #ESOTWYT, "ESO They Waste Your Time" (TM) where I calculate the true cost (to the paying customer) and profit (to those Steve-Jobs-wannabe-generation-me-control-freaks Zenimax) of every small time waste in the game:
Every ten second wait to log out
Every wait for a small clock to whizz round a fish while you are gutting fish for perfect Roe
Every invisible rock that stumbles you
The way your mount pauses after a jump
The 100 plus mobs that slow you rather than trying to kill you, (doncha just love cloud feet?)
Every NPC positioned in a major route to stop you in your tracks (Guard on path to Belkarth bank anyone)
Waiting for Writ notifications to appear on-screen (the writ is instantly in journal, why does it take seconds to appear os)
I am sure you can think of plenty more...
...but just think.
Every time you wait for Zenimax 7,000,000 (according to Zenimax) other people are waiting as well.
Once you have bought the game they charge you for game time, so every second they make you waste is money in their bank. This is what I hate about ESO so much, the fact that they deliberately put time-wasters in every where...
When crafting, ever clicked on an instruction book by mistake? #ESOTWYT
When crafting, ever clicked on a vendor by mistake? #ESOTWYT
When handing in writs, ever accidentally stolen anything? #ESOTWYT
When clicking on Guild Vendors ever missed and got something else? #ESOTWYT
I will do the serious sums during the next enforced daylight hours down time...

Except this morning. It's more than somewhat pathetic that I don't know what to do with myself when my routine is interrupted. I'm STILL staring at the screen, coffee mug in hand, going "What? -- What?"

ZOS is not Zenimax, it's a branch of it much like Bethesda. Dark and light is not an MMO they removed that title from the genre, BDO was poorly optimized and ran like trash no matter the PC.
If you programmed you'd know if you fix one bug, you'll get a million more.
Also ESO runs on a heavy modified, dissected version of HE.
I did make a post in the past saying, the play any class, any race, any style is dead and you must plan ahead now.

I'm one of the original players. I've been pvping since day one, one of the original duelers and tournament hosters on the NA server. I worked with Sypher theorycrafting before, and ran Legend in its prime. Don't ever try to assume anything, lol. Morrowind will be a new launch, expansions are another launch. It should end here, also I've just recently got into PVE after 3 years or however long it's been playing and I rather do enjoy it. I never RP I sit in cyrodiil all day until lately.
