Should I give up on farming VMA?

So Ive ran VMA about 40 times now with no reward of any type of destro whatsoever, should i just give up? Whats people experience with the drops? Trouble is if i give up i fear Ill give u on the game but I don't actually enjoy VMA. Has anyone else given up for the same reason? If so what are you focusing on now?

I hate the words farm and grind - both lead to a lack of satisfaction.

Play vMSA, enjoy it - focus on getting better, Flawless or a score - and let the weopon be a by product

This farming of content to do other content just limits the available content you'll actually enjoy - in my opinion.

I've done well over 300 runs by now, and still have neither a sharpened inferno staff or lightning staff. Let alone precise ones. Lol. That should give you some insight as to what you're working with.

Edit: That includes with rewards at the end of the week as well, with multiple characters being on the leaderboards. At least 3 damn near every time. I'll take a screen shot of my last reward, which I left sitting in my mail just for an occasion like now. lol.

Here was the bow I was telling you about. Mind you that I already have received tons of those bows in the final chest, and already have numerous sharpened and precise bows. As well as infused and other traits. It's straight deconstruction fodder. Meanwhile I have 0 infernos sharpened or precise, nor lightning sharpened or precise. How ironic. With hundreds of runs done. Even during the Orsinium anniversary event, it was so bad that I received double S&B. As for nowadays, I read the patch notes and see nothing about making the rewards better. Nor did I see any type of token system being implemented after months of complaints about it.

Thanks for "listening to the feedback" as you all love to say, and taking the community's requests seriously. We really can tell you give a darn about us. Lmao. @ZOS_RichLambert @ZOS_Finn

I think @Beardimus has got it right. I would add this, as well though. If you go into vMSA looking for one particular item you are setting yourself up for disappointment. The loot table is just too large.

If you go in looking for a "good" drop, however, your odds are much better (approximately 1 in 7, I think). I have run it just a few more time than you, and my experience has been pretty much dead on to that theoretical likelihood (what are the odds of that?). I have lots of different characters, though, so with the exception of some redundancy in resto staves, I have been able to make use of most of the drops.

As much as I would agree with you about going into VMSA for good loot, some of us have run it so many times that we practically have most of the "good" loot bar Staves. for example I have 600+ runs in the arena spanning 2 platforms XB1 and PC and out of those 600 runs I have received 2 sharpened lightning staves and a sharpened ice staff. of those 600 runs I have received 1 Nirnhoned inferno, 1 charged inferno, 2x infused infernos.

We do really need for ZOS to make a commitment on implementing a token system. There has been enough feedback on this subject matter that at this point it should be high up on their priority list after of course fixing bugs.

If you're doing it just for one particular drop, one particular trait, you're gonna make yourself miserable. (well until you get it, but who knows when that'll happen. one more time, or 200 more times?!)

to keep it interesting for myself, I've run a bunch a different characters/classes thru it. Still don't have my sharpened daggers, but got my sharpened bow and inferno staff. Got the staff on a stam character a while ago...so I rolled a MagSorc to justify the drop

About 50 runs in total and all sharp staves (2 inferno sharp as weekly rewards) and now I just do 2 runs per week on magplar and magdk for top100 award.

Off topic question:
If I get stamdk and magdk both in top100 leader boards, will each of them receive a weapon or it is per account?

Farmed vMA since its release. Got my Sharpened Inferno after 600+ runs. Somewhere around 620. Not counting weekly rewards for 1.5 years. 40 runs is nothing if you're looking for a good destro.

Well, I enjoy the challenge, wish it can be played even offline like a single player's game.
I'm still trying to chase the stormproof title for my Templar, and it wasn't easy, requires a lot of trials and errors.
The content and challenge is fun, a good test for your build as well.

It's all RNG it took me a year and 400+ runs to get a maelstrom sharpened inferno staff and once I got it I got 2 back to back

This is what I do. If I get a good weapon great, if not that's fine because I'm just trying to improve. I'm not saying I never get frustrated with bad drops, but when I changed my mindset to focus on improving it has seemed less grindy.

If you want maelstrom weapons, get them now. Because after update 14 hits, vma will be a lot more difficult.

Unless you want it really very badly. Yep give up. It's not worth the trouble. Craft a set staff and upgrade it or buy a set staff and ugrade it. You will still do good damage, actually enough to cover all of the vet group content. Seriously think of the things you could be doing besides repeating the same twisted slaughter-tournament over and over.

I'll let you in on the secret to vma happiness OP....

Do not farm this place if you just want a few items.

After about 15 runs... i got flawless conqueror (and continue to get those runs if i don't get lazy and stop paying attention)
After about 25 runs... i got a couple useful weapons (sharpened dagger, sharpened bow, precise dagger, precise/powered restos)
That's around the time i started hating it. But i kept pushing through and hoping (for no rational reason) that my drops would get better

Fast forward to drop 100.... between 25 and 100 i've found only 3 more useful items (another sharpened dagger, and 2 sharpened lightning staves - There was also 3 more sharpened bows and a ton of restos that i have no use for)

But around drop #50-60.... i started doing vma once or twice a week. ONLY once or twice a week instead of daily.
I'm much happier playing the game now and i can usually stick on the leaderboards so i get a double shot.

TLDR: Only run vma once or twice a week if you're just looking for items. If you really enjoy doing it over and over... thats your prerogative.
