Will they refund Crown Purchase for this?

I had a little under 6k crowns yesterday and decided I wanted to add to my Motiff collection. I purchased the Ebonheart Pact one and went to train it and it says I already know that motiff...Well that sucks..I had looked to see if I could make this style already and didn't see it, but of course that was only if I was using the correct style material...click the stupid little Mimic Stone one and boom I can make it.

It's pretty lame that it doesn't tell you from the store if you already known a motiff or not, or maybe if you do know it should take it out of the store..I don't know. I don't normally mind micro transaction since it is my choice to spend the money or not, but that does make me feel a little cheated out of 5k crowns if I can't get it back.

Yes I did submit a ticket, but we all know how quickly CS responds to issues normally.

I bet the problem comes is because its tradable. I haven't bought a motif so not sure but I would guess that's why we don't have a flag of ownership. So I suspect there's no refund. But if they do, let us know.

It's possible they will. I have seen them refund for other things, under the premise that the refund would be a one time deal.
Be calm, polite, and keep replying to the responses.

But...thought it does tell you? *goes to check* Yup, if you mouseover it it'll tell you either "use to add to your library" if it's one you don't know yet or "already in your library" if it's one you do know. Sorry OP, but this one is on you:/

You can also check your motif knowledge by finding the achievement for it, I find it a lot more convenient than having to use crafting station. Alliance motifs, among other stuff, are in general "crafting" achievement tab, dlc-specific motifs are in dlc achievement tabs(such as TG, DB, Minotaur, Silken, Maz etc).

Things that can be LEARNED by multiple characters in your account will never show up as purchased... like Motifs, riding lessons, etc.

Only things that are USEABLE by all your account characters will show as purchased... like Mounts, Costumes, Trinkets, Personalities, Toys, etc...

I wish you luck on getting a refund.

It's not, actually. The crown motif books are bound on pickup.

Without wanting to sound too callous, I wouldn't recommend ever buying motifs (with the exception of ones that are crown store only, (Stahlrim and Harlequin)). Any others can be obtained in game, with sufficient cash. Mimic Stones? Sure, but the motifs themselves? There's much better ways to spend your cash.

You might get lucky this time. I wouldn't try and blame it on them when you put in a ticket though. Just say you made a mistake and want to refund it since you can't use it.

Before making a 5k crown purchase you should go look under achievements to ensure you don't know it.

You may get lucky and get a cs rep that is willing to help you, probably help to be nice and respectful with the rep. Not saying you wouldn't be, it's just easy to get frustrated when dealing with cs reps in general.

It's worth noting, you'll get an automated response the first time, don't hold that against the rep, just update the ticket, and be polite. In theory, no refunds, but in practice, some of the CS reps will help you if you're not getting upset at them.

Hopefully they will and you are right it is lame they dont notify you if you know it already. The crown motifs should have a small note beside them or something with Known fully and Known Partially sections with character names for your account

For some reason it doesn't state "known motif" next to motif name like with normal motifs, just says "motif book" there, but it does say "already in your library" below.

It's what I do for a living, well technical support so unless they say something so far off base it's pretty hard to get me upset with them.

Yeah I get clicked on it and bought, just hopeful I can get a refund since I feel there should be a better system, or one at all, that easily says if it's something you should do. Like the horses you own are greyed out, or at least some are, why can't the motiffs be...

Especially with motif pages dropping abundantly this week. Still, some people don't want to spend the gold or time on things they can get in the crown store (the opposite of my philosophy).

They might. I got my crowns refunded after buying crown crates and not realising that I would be unable to extract gems from collectibles (my plan was to extract gems from everything I got and then craft the Mane of Many Rivers hair. But due to the way the boxes works it would have required about twice the amount of boxes I originaly expected to need).
It took me 2 days to get a human respond (really fast I know), but the 2 first persons didn't evem read my ticket and replied with "it is working as intended" and not saying anything about my request (not even rejecting it). The third person said they would look into it, the 4th accepted by request but did not do the refund. 2 days later I sent a mail asking how it was going so my ticket wouldn't expire and about 1 hour later I got a reply that someone had helped me and when I logged back in I had my crowns back.

Just be nice, respectfull and patient and I am sure they will help you.

I'm not sure that addons to add info when you hover over an item is any less "old-fashioned," but it is definitely a personal matter of taste. I sure do like hovering over recipes and knowing all my characters who know it. Or opening anniversary boxes on alts and knowing if my main needs a motif page by just hovering over the page. Going in an out of inventory when I have 20 different motif pages from anniversary boxes on alts would be painful. Reminds me of the horrors of DA:I inventory (despite having so few things to put in inventory).
