i think they have to do it eventually or else the in-game economy will someday crash, and that will most likely result in the death of the game. there has to be demand for things or else most people will not play.

I can not relate to this at all. I am skeptical that most people would agree with you about the importance of the in-game economy. If it crashed, people would still have lots of content to play. Even if everything cost one gold, there would still be new bind on pickup gear that is BiS for those who are into the gear treadmill more than they are into the actual gameplay.

ZoS has kind of backed themselves into a corner with gear cap. I mean, lots of people ran vMA literally HUNDREDS of times to get their desired weapons. If they raise the gear cap (effectively making those weapons obsolete), the rage would be unparalleled. Re-farming trial sets, overland sets, undaunted sets, and dungeon sets at higher CP would be a tedious and time-consuming task, but it would be bearable for most serious gamers. Having to re-farm vMA weapons at a higher CP level though...that would just make people ragequit. I don't think that the endgame player base would accept it without a serious push-back.

ZOS confirmed there would be no increase to CP with Morrowind (they made an official post on the forums). They did not confirm or rule out increases beyond that.

Considering that they introduced scaling in One Tamriel, it is unlikely that they will ever increase the gear cap again (since everything would just scale to the new level and we would be back where we started). They could increase the gear cap to CP 600 tomorrow and the game would still feel exactly the same due to scaling. You wouldn't do any more damage than you do now, nor would enemies hit you any harder. Your experience in Tamriel would be 100% identical to what it is now.

If you were over cp 160 and was to go equip cp 100 gear verse cp 160 they're would definitely be a difference.

Having gear of the appropriate level matters. So if they did do a gear cap increase the new capped armor/ weapons would make you stronger. So it would be different. Ever notice the gear score at top right of character screen.

As long as we can upgrade our gear to the new cp cap won't be bad at all. If not, definitely going to quit. Don't need to grind undaunted shoulders, gear sets and vma all over again.

Bolded bit is actually untrue. If gear level caps were increased, the stats would be, too. More stats = more damage.

If they decide to raise cap, I would like it to be CP200 as well. For the sake of my OCD.

    It will be CP171 cap.

Take WoW for instance. When new expansions hit that game, the gear cap is usually moved up along with a higher character level. Why should ESO not do this?

Perhaps if we allow crafters to upgrade gear, that would be a good start.

WOW is set out in areas that require certain levels and strength... ESO brought scaling in with one tamriel so it makes no difference...

if they raise the cap they will just give mobs more health when scaling to the higher level... so it's a pointless excercise.

I heard in passing that ZOS is considering increasing the CP cap for gear. Please tell me it's not true, please don't tell me I'll have to PVE farm all of my gear again!!

I don't recall how long ago and consequently have no evidence to support this, but I recall seeing Gina Bruno saying something about that not being on the agenda at all this year.

Don't have to increase gear cap, just add sets or change set bonuses. Same net outcome with more choice on the player to get the new gear or not.

Let me make it easy for you... No. They've even stated they're NOT going to raise the gear CP anymore, wrap your head around that.

Since everything scales to match your level now now, increasing the gear level won't increase your power. Everything is even. So, the only thing that would happen is you'd have to farm new gear; and it would be extremely difficult to do so.

I mean really gear should just be level 50 now and that's it. All levels right up until you're max and then it's just level 50.

After that CP is what defines you as a player based on experience and grind.

No they will not, it would be completely pointless and the amount of work it would take to implement such a thing for something that would add no extra value to the game. Although ready all the "death threats" of people saying they would quit the game I wish they would. I'm so tired of reading these stupid threats like that's a way to get ZOS attention. Kinda like if Donald Trump gets elected president I'm moving out of the country yet our population is still the same. Realize. That those stupid threats are worthless and hold no value and honestly makes you look a complete ass. (No I'm not a DT fan I just used it as an example)
