Why mats are being sold so cheap?

    I sell my max level refined mats 2k a stack, just to get rid of them taking my bank space.
    Sold fast and I don't really care about the money that much, easy enough to farm them.

    Yes, lots of players dumped they stored mats to buy houses. More farming for housing mats.
    Also no new sets so lack of demand.

    The new event also drop gold mats and have everybody doing crafting writs as crazy who generate more mats.
    Grinding just make you go in circles.
    Asking ZoS for nerfs is as stupid as asking for close air support from the death star.

    Prices might probably raise with morrowind, you will get new crafted, overland and raid gear.
    Also balance changes will make other gear better.
    On the other hand they might increase the drop chance of gold tempers :)

    Iron ingots sell for less than what it costs to sell them to an NPC.

    I have 400 iron ingots I don't know what to do with.

    More people are doing writs and doing them on more characters and more accounts... and in doing so have just found out the secret of getting a *** ton of gold upgrade mats.

    Yes, prices, at least for upgrade matts, often go increase for a bit with the addition of new gear.

    It probably doesn't help that there have been endless trains of bots running since One Tamriel came out in locations all over the world that have been reported dozens of times and ZOS didn't do anything about it. They said they investigate it and do something about it but c'mon.. the ones I reported in November of last year are still there.

    Day 1: 5 people farming and selling them.
    Day 100: 500 people farming and selling them
    Year 3: 50.000 people farming and selling them.

    At the same time:
    Day 1: 1.000.000 people needing to upgrade gear via buying stuff vs farming/creating their own
    Day 100: 980.000 people needing to upgrade gear via buying stuff vs farming/creating their own
    Year 3: 50.000 people needing to upgrade gear via buying stuff vs farming/creating their own

    Supply goes up, while demand goes down, means prices drop. Basic economy.

    This is not a bad thing OP. It's a good thing.

    Because crafting mats should be cheap.

    Rare weapons / gear / recipes / motifs / furniture blueprints should not.

    I dont know how NA but on EU spell power pots used to be 120-130 gold each, sometimes even less. Now its a miracle to find them cheaper than 170 gold per each. The price is crazy with the fact that you use 100 in an hour of trial.
    Magicka sorcerer from start until the end. Always. Through the good times and the bad, even now when its probably saddest PvE dps it has ever been.
    Even as an owner of one radiant apex mounts I am against radiant apex mounts and anything thats not obtainable by direct purchase.

    Mats were selling for pennies long before Homestead.

    The reason being is that no new sets had been released in a while, so people had no need to buy upgrade mats.

    I craft because weapon farming is terrible, also I get to choose my style. So I run one crafted and one dropped set on all my characters.

    Crafting quests + Blacksmithing / Woodworking / Clothier survey maps + skill points in mats extractions = tons of free upgrade mats...
    More accessible stuff = price drops.
