I have two accounts. One of them has no CP on it & no DLCs.
It's nice for trying stuff out, just enjoying certain activities, and for playing with more of a challenge.

My crafters are on my main account, and it's cool that I can mail stuff right to the chars. It saves two trips to the bank!

You can have as many accounts as you can afford, can think of account names for, and can make email addresses for.

However, be exceedingly careful about using more than one of them at the same time. You cannot play the game on more than one account at the same time. That means no grouping up for dungeons, content, loot, or XP. No software can be used to coordinate playing the accounts. Only one account is active in the game at a time, and all other accounts are quietly doing nothing, like they are not even logged into the game.

Honestly, there is not a lot of utility to having two or more accounts logged in at the same time. I have done it to see what emotes look like, for testing add-ons, and getting the shader cooked file built after patches, but I really have few other reasons to do it. I do send mail between them, but I tend to log out of one, and into the other, instead of logging in twice.

My original copy of the game was bought outside of Steam (physical copy at launch), the second copy was bought from Steam but was bought before Steam login is forced (that's a thing now for new Steam purchases, right?).

So I just play with my original copy that is now linked to my Steam account and login to my second account using the username and password.

I just launch the executable directly (the Steam version so no need to install another copy) and it doesn't try to login with Steam; I can then login using the username and password for my second account.

That is legal, You can also use the second account as an mule.

once I played an F2P MMO where I found I could run an second account on my laptop for farming daily quests.
Put the alt at the location, gathered the quest materials who you could not gather after fulfilling the quest, same as ESO, but I could trade to alt, and gather more until I had 100 items, take mats back from alt and cash in 10 daily quests as they could be repeated but only 10 times.

    https://help.elderscrollsonline.com/app/answers/detail/a_id/23701
Multiboxing is NOT allowed in The Elder Scrolls Online: Tamriel Unlimited in any of its forms, whether software- or hardware-based. Any accounts found to be multiboxing will be considered in violation of our Terms of Service and actioned swiftly and decisively, up to the permanent deactivation of the account along with any other associated accounts. To be clear, players are welcome to have multiple accounts. However, using hardware or software to play them all at the same time is not allowed on any ESO service.

Multiboxing is the practice of playing multiple accounts simultaneously, including, but not limited to using either hardware or software to facilitate the coordination between the accounts. This violates the intended nature of the gameplay mechanics we've created for ESO.

Multiboxing is not only against the terms, they have specifically clarified that it is.

This is why I say to be exceedingly careful what you do when you are logged in under multiple accounts at the same time. If you meet their definition of play (their definition, not yours), then you could get suspended or banned.

They have built this definition around what appears to be the idea of "gameplay", which tells me that it is not simply having two accounts logged in, but actively doing something with them, simultaneously, while they are.

If that is the case, then using your feet to control one character and your hands to control another would also be a violation of the Terms of Service.

Yes, you can. One of my guild mates has 3 accounts, he just logs into each one as needed on the same PC.

Thanks for the reply Nestor! :) I'm sure its very straigfht forward but how do you run 2 accounts on one machine? - in my case I currently run ESO directly from a short cut. I don't actually use the launcher to play the game. When there's a patch etc I just update the launcher individually. I'd like to run 2 accounts in this way still but I'm not sure how to set it up and how to switch between the 2 accounts.
