Do you think running 4 piece Transmutation set, staff and jewelry, is viable for magicka dps?
I think it would be more worth it to either use a cost reduction glyph or a 1p chokethorn or shadowrend or both. Using up a 4 slots like that for a few mag recovery pieces don't seem worth it, and cost reduction is more powerful than recovery.
It might be more prudent to start smaller, like with reduced cost glyphs. They may want to take away some of our sustain from CP, but the nature of trials still calls for max dps, so I have a hard time imagining a switch to a full sustain set. As long as leaderboards are based on who clears the fastest, recovery will remain among the least important stats in favor of maximizing dps.
What ZOS doesn't seem to realize is that, despite the fact that we get a lot of sustain from CP, we haven't just ignored it like they seem to think. We run sets like Worm Cult, constantly throwing up Mystic and Energy orbs, have designated players to pop them for sustain and keep 100% up time on Minor Magickasteal. We throw shards and run sets like Sentinel, and we have Master's Resto staves to give stamina back on every first tick. Heavy attacks are built into a lot of rotations, particularly during segments of fights that involve adds. The list of things we do so that our dps can sustain without stacking recovery and reduced cost is real.
On a side note, do we know for sure that it's coming with Morrowind? I haven't seen anything official on it, mostly just "we're thinking about doing this." I'd love to see something more definitive.
If they do end up going through with changes to the cost reduction CP, I REALLY hope they fix the issues with the orb synergy. I don't know if it's the same for everyone, but for me and many people I run with, half the time we do not get the option to pop those orbs as they float by. You have to chase them down and hope you get the synergy option before the orb disappears. Half the time I don't even bother trying to pop them because it ends up being a DPS loss due to that bug. It's really frustrating, and it has been like that for a long time.
