penetrator was the trigger and that is just pathetic on zos's part, unless you was harassing people in a certain context via pm's.

      penetrator

      noun
      noun: penetrator; plural noun: penetrators
a person or thing that penetrates something.
a missile containing a hard alloy rod, designed to penetrate the armour of tanks or fortifications.

Regardless of whether the requirement to change the name was reasonable or not, the way the OP describes it he appears to have been told to change the name and keeps coming up with it again. If so, that's even more immature than choosing the name in the first place.

It's ridiculous how arbitrary name complaints are. I had some friends on WoW, one had his name "Wharehouse" banned because it looked like whorehouse meanwhile my other friends tauren "Preggo Stomper" lasted years.

Perhaps the GM concerned was a stickler for spelling, and "Warehouse" would have been fine  !

The problem with all these apparent contradictions in application of the rules is that the only unacceptable names that get changed are the ones that get reported. Plenty of others survive because the GMs never get to know of them.

      How about Jynxe the Thorn?

i'm guessing "Jynxe" isn't the problem here. A Google search didn't turn up anything offensive.

Perhaps you should try an online Thesaurus for more acceptable variations of your chosen words.

So jink with the spelling. I got away with the name screeminsheets... scree being loose rock(look it up) so sheets of scree is an avalanche. (I refuse to say what game =D )

Sure they can. You know how wonderful some names you've seen in game have been. Not to mention he said he keeps trying the same name over and over again, and then gets annoyed when the same results occur. Just like the person who chose "Boo Boo [4 letter word for fornicate] Kitty got upset and ranted in zone chat when they were told the name wasn't appropriate.

I had multiple characters with the name and zos is forceing me to change them all. I like the name and it is how everyone knows me which is the reason I used the name for multiple characters.

It is true that if no one reports a name, it is not likely to be flagged. Once it passes the initial keyword test at character generation.

When words are deliberately misspelled in a manner that suggests another word, it is usually intended to suggest that other word. "Wharehouse" might not have been "Whorehouse", but there is reason to believe that was the intent.

In the case of the OP, he just needs to pick another word for "Penetrator", like "Infiltrator". That is, unless the word is intended to be used in the manner that is causing the name change request.

Except that "penetration" is not used by ZOS as a character name. At least, not that I have ever seen. There are a things expressed in the game that we are not allowed to use as character names.

Doesn't matter. I see nothing wrong with having the title "the Penetrator" and just because ZOS hasn't named a character penetration doesn't mean anything... look at the brooms they just released on crown store. It's ok to make a direct sexual reference to the entire community and force all of us to see it but someone uses a nonsexual title that morons take offense to so it's force changed?

Report ZOS for their sexual statements they force us to read, not just a single word taken out of conext.

"Lifts-her-tail: 'But, my lord, your broom is so very long and stiff! To move it back and forth, I shall have to use both hands!'" -- Excerpt from The Dusty Argonian Maid

This is what I was referring to.

Also the game is rated M 17+ with sexual themes... I've seen much worse names and it's also not like Jynxe named the toons "Richard the Penetrator" or the nickname for Richard...

I'm not offended by the broom personally, I've played since TES III Morrowind and I got a kick out of it the first time I ran across the Lusty Argonian Maid book and it's been in every game I've played. When I logged in and saw the broom I lol'd.

People just need to stop reporting people just to be trolls......
