I mean.... yes. I can't really put it any other way.
I have mained Magicka Sorc since launch and it has taken up like 99% of my game time.
June 6th marks the day my Mag Sorc retires. I'll stick with my Warden regardless of whether it's OP, balanced, or underpowered.
Not everyone cares about "winning" or getting "top DPS." At a certain point enough is enough for any content and the need for more is just obsession.
Honestly I think the emphasis ZOS has put on leaderboards and exclusivity of Crown items is bordering about as close to the slippery slope of pay to win as one can get without taking the penguin plunge.
It is why people bring Cheat Engine into vMA, why they pay guilds of opposing faction players to farm AP, and why people get so worked up over meaningless PVP kills that they send profanity-laced death threats to other players like angry German kid (of Youtube fame) bashing his keyboard.
It is a totally unhealthy direction that leads people to die of embolisms live on 24 hour Twitch marathons desperate for attention and upvote sponsors, but I get that ZOS wants to make money at all cost so they happily encourage it anyway since they know it is the addicted OCD personality types that drop the big wads.
But to me, something FAR more important than the highest score or the biggest DPS is HOW MUCH FUN IT IS TO PLAY.
If the Warden mechanics and spell effects are fun and visually appealing, I will play it. If they fit with my idea of the lore behind such characters, I will play it.
I could care less about comparing damage meters.
Fun is however incredibly subjective. High scores and big DPS numbers could easily be the fun of others, and that is as valid a way as any to enjoy the game.
