✭✭✭✭✭I only play Bosmer. And magic ones at that. So it was in Oblivion and Skyrim, so shall it be in ESO. Not being one of the healer industry standard AlrmerBretonArgonians requires a bit more attention but she is still a very good healer.
Just look for the shortest magplar healer on the battlefield and there she is!

✭✭✭✭✭I think people with off-racial characters will really feel the pain when Morrowind is released and resources become an even bigger problem. My sixth and seventh characters shifted to magicka and stamina respectively to make certain sets and builds work, influenced partially by race, but still wouldn't change if passives went away. I didn't start caring about race and class until my eighth character, and that was just figuring out jobs for the remaining races I hadn't made characters for yet.Main: Drio Azul ~ DC, Redguard, Healer/Magicka Templar ~ NA-PC

✭✭✭A question as I am curious. My main is currently is a redguard stam sorc and if I hadn't been forced to min/max he would have probly been a dunmer, but I have grown attached to him and have since came up with a story about his origins and how a redguard became a part of the dominion. My mag sorc would remain altmer since it fits best with a magika based class but the rest of my female characters I would turn bosmer in an instant.
All of my characters, [2 accounts although the second one isn't full yet] would stay the same. I make a character and their story, so whatever race fits is what I use. The character and the story is what is important to me, not using a spreadsheet and doing calculations that one race might get .0000045% more health/magic/stamina/whatever than another.
I have to admit I'm curious. Did ZOS send out a ninja hitsquad to kidnap your cat/dog/significant other to "force" you to min/max? If they did, have you notified the authorities yet? If this has not occurred, then it was your choice to give in to the min/max fotm.
I will never understand players who believe they are "forced" to min/max to play. Guess its the reason I'll never bother with pvp; I'm not competitive and I just don't care that someone else has an ubergod character that can kill my character by blinking at them. If I "was forced" to make a "pick the race;best stats possible" min/max character that I really disliked to play this game, I wouldn't be playing this game.0 -

No change. I never gave two tugs of a dead d... uhm... I mean, much value on racial passives in my character generation ideas. My main character will -always- be a dunmer. Because I am an incorrigable dark elf fancier, even before TES:Morrowind, and doubly so after discovering the rich dunmer history in the elder scrolls universe. And my secondary too - after all, I always make two of them to cover the available genders first... If I make a third, I might go for an orsimer on occasion, and any more alts I just do for fun, to complete the collection so to speak... but I don't really care as much for them.If racials didnt exist, what race would your characters be?

My stabby dunmer stamina nightblade bounty huntress is dark elf not because of the passives, but because of the backstory.
My dunmer goth librarian sorceror spellslinger boy is dark elf not because of the passives, but because of the backstory.
My orsimer blacksmith amazon templar is an orc not because of the passives, but because of the backstory.
My argonian stamina dragonknight dragon wannabe is lizardish not because of the passives, but because of the dragonlance-draconian-inspired character idea.
My altmer templar healer priestess is high because of her herbal remedies... no, wait, she is high elf - not because of the passives, but because of the character idea.
My drunkard nord stamina sorceror is nord not because of the passives, but because of the mead. Oh, and the character idea. Though I likely will recycle that idea for my first warden... and hope that maaaybe someday I might get the chance to redo this character into a maormer raider...
My breton blood mage nightblade vampire girl is breton not because of the passives, but because of the character idea and rivenspire clichees.
My dunmer dragonknight pyromancer is a dark elf nobles son not because of the passives, but because of the character idea.
My imperial stamina templar pirate queen is imperial not because of the passives, but because of the ex-legionary character idea.
My khajiit battlemage sorceress is a kitty not because of the passives, but because of the character idea.
My fat redguard ex-guard dragonknight raider is redguard not because of the passives, but because of the "corrupt guard thrown out and turned desert bandit" character idea.
My bosmer nightblade huntress girl is a wood elf not because of the passives, but because of the character idea. Though I likely will redo that character idea with a more "poison ivy" theme for my second warden. And possibly redo this character someday if they ever add new races, and I get a new idea...
Some of my characters have well matching passives. Some not so much. My three mains are more on the "barely adequate" side... but I have fun playing them nonetheless.
And that is the main point... having fun, not being super-effective.
If you convince yourself that "having fun" is dependent on eking out those last percentage points of effectiveness, on "being competetive" and then competing with the other min/maxxers for those leaderboard spots, on chasing the flavor of the month, on reaching some lofty goal... well, then you are practically shooting yourself in the foot right from the start.
To all those who do so, I would suggest rethinking your life, and maybe considering how you can have your fun in walking the road, not in reaching the finish line.
Because then... passives become pretty much irrelevant, and you can play whatever you like!0 -
