How to be good DPS as a nightblade?

You know how every game has a "worst class"? Well in the realm of PvE DPS; that's a stamina Nightblade.
No. For now it's stamplar and magnb. Stamnb is perfectly viable. And incredibly good for fast-clear vMA.

Seriously, people, stop. Stop discouraging others. Is being good stamNB hard? Yes. Is it impossible? Absolutely not.

Also, being good DPS isn't easy in general. Magsorc isn't a walk in a park, like majority (as I feel it more and more) thinks. Does magsorc have easier rotation? Yes. Is it easy? Hell no.

Being good is hard in general. But not impossible. Never impossible.

Yes, in the current state of the game OP would most probably not make it to top trial-leaderboards. But if he/she doesn't want that? He/she is totally ok.

farm Rivenspire and get the Necropotence set (I mean if you are magicka NB) - all bosses drop this set. Dolmens drop jewelry at the end.
    http://elderscrollsonline.wiki.fextralife.com/Necropotence+Set

If you are stamina NB, then I don`t know, Hunding`s range crafted set? or some dropped one?
stamina I don`t know. But magicka, Necropotence is good as base, slot Summon shade (pet) to proc the 5th bonus of Necropotence set.
Not to forget to mention it is advicable to put all your attribute points in just one stat, not divided into any other of the 3.
So either all into magicka or all into stamina.

Then it depends what kind of play do you prefer.
If you want to mainly deal damage, or stand as a tank or a healer. You can choose. Depending on that, sets are good. 5 pieces and 2 pieces (monster sets) and 3 pieces (jewelry). Then you enchant them. Or let them enchant by someone. And improve to at least blue, purple is ok, weapons to gold if you can.

but it also depends on your level. if you are bellow level 50, then you do not need to worry about sets and good dps  . you can use the dropped ones and after level 50 - veteran level. then you can find dropped set(s) or (let yourself) craft it.

Why use necropotence on a nightblade? They have no pets

    It was a troll post.

I'm speaking purely from a trial perspective. Stamplars are slightly superior solely due to the fact that Power of the Light causes minor fracture, and minor breach; which increases the DPS of the entire group by 2%, and magblade is superior due to better AoE DPS (lots of trash mobs in trials), and better survivability.

So yes, from a competitive standpoint the stamblade is dead last. But if the OP doesn't care about being competitive the stamblade is quite viable.

Bow/Bow and Vigor for self healing and you will be fine, as I am :).
First bar bow's single hiting abilites, on 2-nd bow's aoe abilities.

    Here you go

    http://deltiasgaming.com/eso-stamina-nightblade-dps-build/

Delta is very well known in the world of ESO, so his builds are very credable.

Thanks for that, I needed a good laugh. I honestly didn't even check the link because that guy makes builds telling people to get Withered Hand set.

Well in defense of that post, Gilliam is the one writing most of his builds at this point from what I hear, and he is a darn good stamblade. haha. Deltia builds really are nice for new players, and he is certainly a great resource. He absolutely was for me at one point. His end game PVE builds are just a fancy branding on current meta builds, and he certainly didnt create them all.

But come on, vet trials are... 0.01% of the game content? And considering that OP is clueless, I think it's fair to assume that he/she is only at the start of the road. I doubt his/her goal now is climbing trial leaderboards ;) Heck, maybe he/she doesn't want to do vet trials at all and simply likes dungeoning ;)

Let's not run ahead of everything and tell people to just give up, that's my point :)

Main thing is do not listen to people telling you the Stamblade is pointless etc. It is the lowest performing DPS class in the game right now, but this is all relative. I run a Stamblade and it's easily capable of pumping out enough DPS to complete all content in the game. However, it is not strong enough to be competitive in vet trials, yes it can complete them no issue, but it won't be top performer. I have a magicka sorceror for that, but they are boring to play in comparison.

Anyway, by the time you get to vet trials ZOS will no doubt have nerfed everything in the game several times and Stamblade may be king again.

Saw an list made from some ESO expert of optimized builds in BiS gear, Stam NB was bottom with almost 41k dps and bottom, Pet Sorc was a bit above 45k dps but pet don't work in all raids dumping sorc down to 43k. Best was 44k.
That is way more balanced than WOW was.
More an issue is how hard the class is to play and how dependent it is on hard to get gear.
Grinding just make you go in circles.
Asking ZoS for nerfs is as stupid as asking for close air support from the death star.

Idk all these people saying that stamina nightblade sucks yet I can pull 43k with just Fracture on the dummy... Gilliam and Jeckll pull like 46k. Its perfectly viable, just not as good as a magicka sorcerer, who will get roughly the same numbers but from range and with insane AoE.

Everything - literally everything - you need is written down here, really :

    http://tamrielfoundry.com/topic/stamina-nightblade-pve-dps-for-homestead/

It's the best PvE guide for stamblads you will ever find.

I play my stamblade as a fun char mostly in 4-man-content and just use Jeckll's group setup for 4-man-dungeons, don't even have a Mahlstrom bow or daggers and get 30k in instances single target with no or lousy warhorn support (PUGs), it's not that easy I admit, but good weaving with Killer's Blade + refreshing dots below 25% mob health can change a lot. I once tried his raid setup, but the rotation for this needs some practice. The group setup rotation with suprise attack is much easier in my eyes and I am still far from perfect (I do light attacks but I miss block cancelling a lot), but I get to 30k dps and sometimes 35k+ with good warhorn support and an Alkosh tank. Far from perfect, but I guess quite ok for a fun char and for the fact that I am 49 years old.

I play none of my chars perfect - at best maybe my mag DK - and I pull at least 30k ST with each, but have seen 40k+ ST with my DK in raids just once or twice yet. We aren't Hodor, just average or maybe slightly above average midfield, but ok, it works. That the effort and the practice needed for this might be different depending on class, build and rotation, is obvious.

Stam NB's are all about DoTs, keep your dots up and spam surprise attack with light attacks. Endless hail, poison injection and rending slashes are your damage over time attacks and maybe caltrops depending on your skill bar. To get most DPS you need to keep these dots up constantly along with relentless focus. When the enemy gets down to less than 25% health, re apply your dots and focus then spam killers blade, rinse and repeat. The only way to get real good stamblade DPS is to have end game gear (sharpened maelstrom daggers, maelstrom bow infused/sharpened, viscious ophidian jewelery and twice fanged serpent gear). The maelstrom daggers along with the bows endless hail make your DoTs ridiculous in combination with rapid strikes. I dont recommend rapid strikes untill you've obtained this gear.
on a side note, slot cammo hunter on your dual wield bar and just never use it and also siphoning attacks on your bow bar.
    hope this helps

Phhh... As someone who has both magSorc and stamNB, let me say: absolutely no need. If you truly believe it, then, as people say... Git gud :)

OP, here you go: http://tamrielfoundry.com/topic/stamina-nightblade-pve-dps-for-homestead/ :) Use it as your general guideline. Personally I changed a couple of skills for it on the basis of my playstyle. See what works for you :)

A general advice. Being good stamNB is first and furthermost about changing mentality. The main power of stam is the huge set of DoTs (Damage over Time abilities). You have Caltrops, Endless Hail, Trap Beast, Poison Injection and Rending Slashes. So your priority should not be "somehow keep some DoTs and focus on awesome spammable". Your priority is keeping up your DoTs.

You can't just stand there and spam Surprise Attack. You get 2 Surprise Attacks before some DoT runs out and need to be reapplied. So don't spam - reapply ;)

I agree. Any toon can be a good dpser. It's depends on the user and how the skillset and rotation are being effectively used. Yes, DoTs are necessary to be incorporated within the rotation as well other damage on target skills like Wrecking Blow for 2H or Rapid Strikes for DW. I prefer Venomous Claw over Rending Slashes for the DW; more DoT with the Claw. I am leveling a NB during this double xp event. It's not too bad so far. From the very spawn of level 3, I went straight to Daggerfall to do the Jester festival and was killing the adds and mob in those delves sololy (and with bare hands, mind you. Ha ha) collecting those ingredients. For all the different toons and class, skillsets are all similar and work in similar fashion. There are good ones, and there are those aren't too necessary. I went up to level 10 within a half an hour, but I'm still learning the ropes with the NB. Can't do too much of a rotation currently, but I like that Shadow Strike. I think that's the one that dash and stun the target. Stun the target and spam heavy strikes with that blade attack and stealing hp. Ha ha. Let's see what else can make the NB more brutal once I acquired more skill points.
