I'm having good results with my stamblade. Yes I won't be hitting top level dps and don't use him for trials, but it's good enough for vet dungeons.

I would recommend checking out different builds and see which one you like best. Then go from there.

Judging from many NB players all around Tamriel, the best way to play NB is to either get dual wield daggers and spam rapid strikes or get a bow and spam light attacks.

That must be the best way to deal some damage tou yourself.

Frustration to player skill aside.. I find it effective and deadly to apply spectral bow skill (Dont remember the name, mark the target and the open with ambush, surprise attack, heavy attack, couple of rapid strikes and end with killers blade.. Bigger enemies rinse anmd repeat and put heavy attacks between abilities exept ambush and surproise attack.

This works at least if you have couple odf weapon damage sets, the loathed gladiator set especially gives good damage on low health with heavy attacks, very underrated in my opinion. I dont much know how xrit based works, i prefer stable sustained weapon damage bonuses.

Phhh... As someone who has both magSorc and stamNB, let me say: absolutely no need. If you truly believe it, then, as people say... Git gud :)

OP, here you go: http://tamrielfoundry.com/topic/stamina-nightblade-pve-dps-for-homestead/ :) Use it as your general guideline. Personally I changed a couple of skills for it on the basis of my playstyle. See what works for you :)

A general advice. Being good stamNB is first and furthermost about changing mentality. The main power of stam is the huge set of DoTs (Damage over Time abilities). You have Caltrops, Endless Hail, Trap Beast, Poison Injection and Rending Slashes. So your priority should not be "somehow keep some DoTs and focus on awesome spammable". Your priority is keeping up your DoTs.

You can't just stand there and spam Surprise Attack. You get 2 Surprise Attacks before some DoT runs out and need to be reapplied. So don't spam - reapply ;)

Make sure to always slot cloak and wrecking blow. These will be your 2 main moves.

Simply stay behind the boss and cloak up, waiting for the right time to use a wrecking blow or 2.

Maybe mix some snipes in for max DPS.

    Cheers!

Good advice, and really something all classes should think about. Several top tier builds are built this way. A self buff, a dot or three, and a 'spammable'. To get the most of the dps the dots and the buff have to be kept up. So at most you have 2-3 attacks with the spammable, before you need to reapply the dots. Most buffs last through 2 rounds of this before they have to be reapplied.

Now obviously this isn't true for all classes or all builds. But it something to consider when you start looking for ways to get a little more out of your dps.

    Mag dk*

Stam dps isn't bad, and my stamplar hit 11th place on weekly trials on our warm up run. I'm sure our score will be beat several times but whatever. I haven't completed my sharp vma dw yet but I'm parsing 29.*k nearly every time on a 6m health dummy using solo buffs.

If you want those high numbers you need vms weapons. You really do, because the bow is very good and buffing your dots makes a big impact. A set like spriggans/alkosh or vo jewelry amd velidreth or kr'aghs monster set is a solid performing gear setup.

For dealing damage you will want to buff and drop caltrops/endlesshail/poison injection, trap beast, slashes, and finally rend if you have it. Those are all dots and that is where your dps comes from. The rest of the time you use fillers like activsting buffs likr assassins will kr light atk weaving/suprise attack. then you basically start over right before the buffs wear off.

That's not going to put you over 30k without lotssss of practice but knce you get comfortable you should be doing 20k+ pretty quickly. The big dps gains come from doing it faster.

Make yourself a set of crafted armor/weapons in the NightMother's Gaze set. You can find the crafting area in The Rift near the Autumn's Gate house, I believe (Eldbjorg's Hideaway). That set gives amazing bonuses to damage. I think it requires 6 traits per piece to craft it, though.

farm Rivenspire and get the Necropotence set (I mean if you are magicka NB) - all bosses drop this set. Dolmens drop jewelry at the end.
    http://elderscrollsonline.wiki.fextralife.com/Necropotence+Set

If you are stamina NB, then I don`t know, Hunding`s range crafted set? or some dropped one?
stamina I don`t know. But magicka, Necropotence is good as base, slot Summon shade (pet) to proc the 5th bonus of Necropotence set.
Not to forget to mention it is advicable to put all your attribute points in just one stat, not divided into any other of the 3.
So either all into magicka or all into stamina.

Then it depends what kind of play do you prefer.
If you want to mainly deal damage, or stand as a tank or a healer. You can choose. Depending on that, sets are good. 5 pieces and 2 pieces (monster sets) and 3 pieces (jewelry). Then you enchant them. Or let them enchant by someone. And improve to at least blue, purple is ok, weapons to gold if you can.

but it also depends on your level. if you are bellow level 50, then you do not need to worry about sets and good dps  . you can use the dropped ones and after level 50 - veteran level. then you can find dropped set(s) or (let yourself) craft it.

They are right about the dots. That's why everyone goes bow/DW. It does feel like a chore and you end up with less damage than a Mag...anything.

Power extraction, Poison injection, endless hail, trap, caltrops-swap-relentless, bloodcraze, surprise attack

Maybe you get 2 surprise attack before it's time to swap and start over. Not everything needs to be refreshed every time you swap.

This is just the beginning to start getting better damage. Feels like I'm throwing everything and the kitchen sink and my dummy numbers still suck.

If It feels like a chore, you're probably doing it right.

Which is why personally I prefer mag, honestly. Stamina is damn hard. Or well... it's entirely different game. I found my fun in relying on DoTs, it's interesting in some way. But definitelty not everyone's cup of tea.

[offtopic salt rant] Stop crying nerf mag, you guys, people are different, not everyone can handle crazy rotation, it's a game, no harm in having easier but still viable option... [/rant]

    Hmmm... Good question, @Rainwhisper .

The guide I linked suggests Acid Spray. Which is yep - a good aoe and viable replacement.

But personally I in my no-caltrops time shoved a self-buff on backbar and used Deadly Cloak (last4th DW skill). Yep, another DoT :D The dmg was sweet.

Try both options ;) Or heck. Whatever you want ;)

But I must warn you... You will struggle without Vigor :( So if you're totally bend on "no PVP" root...

Morph first Dual Wield skill into self-heal (EDIT: googled it, 'cause my memory is bad :D More specifically, morph Flurry into Bloodthirst). And run it instead of Surprise Attack. Also, morph DW Twin Slashes into Blood Craze rather then Rending Slashes.

This setup is probably not for difficult vets like DLC. Certainly not vet Trials. But if it's for fun toon without much ambition - you should be totally ok!

    ... You have Caltrops...

I've started leveling a stamina nightblade for fun, so this is really helpful!

Isn't Caltrops a PvP skill? For those of us who don't PvP at all (as in, not at all, regardless of how "easy" it is to get AP), what should we slot instead of Caltrops?

Deadly Cloak, the dual wield skill.

    Here you go

Delta is very well known in the world of ESO, so his builds are very credable.

Thanks for that, I needed a good laugh. I honestly didn't even check the link because that guy makes builds telling people to get Withered Hand set.

You know how every game has a "worst class"? Well in the realm of PvE DPS; that's a stamina Nightblade.

I would like some foundation advice for my stamina nightblade.

I feel clueless, so thanks in advance.

Bow/Bow and Vigor for self healing and you will be fine, as I am :).
First bar bow's single hiting abilites, on 2-nd bow's aoe abilities.
Viper set is a must, medium armor, maybe red mountain but TBS also is good.
