So there i was qued up for VWGT as DPS

This is not a proper way of starting a happy ending story.

after the 3rd boss somebody left and we had this 3 people a Argonian temp healer cp 180, tank 460, and a DPS cp 300

I KNEW THIS WASN'T GOING TO END VERY WELL.

I pugged WGT (as healer) today again and I have several episodes to share.

Gem #1: I get in dungeon mid-run, go in the portal and end up at Planar boss. I see that one of the dps has 14.5k health and that'd with tank running Ebon...I tell him his health is low and he might want to eat some food. He proudly tells me he has enough for all dungeons and even vet trials(he's ~300 cp). I say "ummmm if you say so...". We start the fight and the guy dies in first 5 second of it, one-shot by Planar's aoe. I lol, but best came when dead guy was like "ooops food ran out sorry guys... - But I told you as much and you said you had enough... - Ermmm uh oh you did...I thought you were talking about something else x_x". That made my day pretty much, I laughed out loud irl over this xD

Gem #2(admittedly less impressive): after a while it's clear this group isn't cutting it - not closing portals, not closing pinion, dots stacks skyhigh, 2 people leave, me and the food guy stay and initiate a new search. Get a dps and tank, ask them if they know mechanics, get no answer, outline the mechanics just in case anyway. Tank clearly didn't slot any dps as he was just light/heavy attacking portals with his s&b which naturally ended up in 100500 ads with ogrims and a wipe. I politely ask the tank to slot some dps for portals(by that I mean I literally said "tank please get some dps for portals:)"...tank says "sorry bye" and ragequits. He had something like 500 cp btw. I'm not sure if my suggestion of slotting some dps to save group from inevitable wipe offended his deeply tanky soul or something...

On side note, got a decent tank who talked in groupchat, asked for mechanics he didn't remember prior to the fight and made it with us til the end after that. Didn't do hm because someone pulled boss before anyone could read the book but normal mode was fairly easy.

I had an aggravating one the other night...

Wayrest 1Vet - Simple, right? It sure was, almost the whole time - we burned through the adds & sub bosses really quick! The guy who qued as both tank & dd was running ahead killing stuff with the greatest of urgency, so I went and tried to keep up with him. I didn't worry too much about fake tank because our group dps was pretty good. We flew through the dungeon, with hardly any delay.

I read the scroll, and notice the group drops like dominoes. Twice. The third time, extraordinary patience guy went right to starting the fight, with no scroll. I had mentioned in group chat twice the 2 keys, sort of as a lol because we had some deeps and it shouldn't be a problem. No communication, and then I realized it... all four of us were DD. I just thought the healer hadn't been given the chance to heal/didn't need it myself, or felt the need due to the previous success. I left at the last boss simply because not getting two keys there is weak. With no tank, no healer, and of course no communication, I realized even as a DD I would que back in quicker and have a better time than that was going to be.

For comparison, the next group had the awesome 2 skill bow spammer that hides behind the healer. I did make sure the tank had a shield this time. No true data on what kind of DPS the Bow spammer had bc it's console, but when I held back at Slimecraw, it didn't look spectacular. We beat the last boss for two keys on the first try.

TLDR; The PUG that did their jobs wound up being better than the PUG that was a bunch of self-proclaimed all stars because team-works. I know that's straight off a (de)motivational poster, but it's true.

PUGs are just so entertaining. Did vFG1 tonight (Kra'gh, med, div, RNG, old story). Me tanking (CP300), Healer (CP<200), DD1 (CP ~220) and DD2 (CP ~450).

At the first group of mobs I realized that this is going to be fun - DD1 was playing with a 2H, and both DDs were taking the mobs out one by one. I suspect that the healer and I were the only ones doing AoE.

Somehow got to Kra'gh, DD1 doing constant heavy attacks, DD2 scolding DD1 about HA'ing. Irony was, group DPS was 20k - and I never so DD2 doing anything other than HAs either. Both DDs ignored the little spiders. Spiderlings chased healer around, healer had to focus on survival and I had to switch to full self-sustain (the only thing I'm good at, my DPS sucks badly!). Fortunately the healer has his/her head screwed on right - brought the spiderlings to Kra'gh, meaning that both healer and my AoEs could wear them down, and my Vigor could supplement healer's self healing.

Even so, Kra'gh died a happy, crunchy death.

Nope, RNG was not that gracious. I was fortunate enough to get the shoulders in divine, only to see that it is in heavy. :D Tried using that with my tanking gear (I have a wide selection of helms in medium, light and heavy, just not in divines), but it didn't seem to proc all that much while tanking.

Ohh boy do i have a story...

" Go inside the shield day "

So last night there i was doing daily's .trying to get shoulder med krags in divins with keys ... got onto my healer (vet trials proven) so i got into a pug group doing fungol grotto 2,

Me 600cp , one dps 180, another 175, and i think one other 400cp.. no tanks all dps... "ok this should be easy" ( i have to stop saying that)

So second boss with chains went ok, they didn't really try to kill the shadow instead when one died the others res him so it was ok... and then we got onto the last boss...

So 3 of us were in the cave going up while the cp 180 leader went leroy jenkins and went to the boss died quick ... we went up whipe i was still on top typing " 2 min guys hang on " (you know as a only healer keeping them alive you would think they might wait for you) ...nope.... they go in wipe.... i type again " guys plz wait 2 min need to change skills for this boss"... they go in attack dead ... ok .. so i had a quick chance to change skills jump down ... i type " do you guys know the mechanics ? " .. no answer they start fight cp 180 stands in the shield ... we wipe .. i type in " please don't stand in shield "... we go again the cp 180 stands in shield .we wipe... i type and cp 400 types" DONT GO IN SHIELD" we try again cp180 runs inside of the shield..... the cp 400 by this time had enough and left we got another cp 500 i think... we try again the cp 180 goes in the shield i type in chat the cp 180 not responding so i go on mic and say " please don't go in shield " other guys jump online and says the same... we go in again the cp 180 goes in the shield...

we get on mic we can hear the baby in the background of the cp 180.. so clearly he can hear us ? .. we say again "please don't go in shield"... try again the cp 180 goes inside of the shield again , we wipe we try again sending text in group whipser and on chat " stop going into shield " we try again ... 3 min into fight.. awsome its going well... DPS is good nobody is goi.. ARE YOU KIDDING ME! ...cp r180 runs into the sheild ... we wipe again ....the new guy cp 500 says " im done with this if this happens again im leaving " ok we go in again and this time right away the cp 180 stands in shield and sits on the chair.... WTF

im done i have not done this in a very very long time but there is only so much i can take.... so .. i vote to kick and we kick him out .. got another cp 240 .. he comes to us i type in the chat please don't go in the shield ... the NEW GUY GOES INSIDE ... we type in again and go on mic... try again the new guy again goes in the shield ..we try again type in chat whisper and mic.. the cp 240 goes inside the shield....

ok whats going on ... is this "go in the shield day today " is somebody playing a joke on me ? ok come on who is it ? ha ha come on who is playing this prank on me ? this can't be happening

... i go on the mic and say " this is soo going on forum " we type again and say again don't go in shield and try one more time and guess what... yep he goes inside of the shield right away ... just standing there.

so... another vote to kick ... got another guy cp 600 now cp 175 goes to repair his items we wait and the cp 175 asks for food which i am more then happy to give and i look and the character and it has "former empresses" ok..cp 170 former empresses?.. ok.... so we go in and we finish it with ease

i honestly have spend 30 min on the lass boss because it was " go inside the shield day "

So I was in vwgt the other day, me CP500 healer, tank about same level and 2 dps over CP300.
Seemed to me that it should be an OK run.

One of the dps says he hasn't done wgt before but as the tank and myself were experienced we don't mind teaching him. (Side note, do dungeons on normal first).

Everything seems to be going well. We get to the adjudicator and explain mechanics.
We wipe a few times and I get the impression the other dps is new to the dungeon too. But we press on. We are getting closer each time and the dps are following mechanics.

Progress is slow though and the zombies aren't being cleared quickly. My healer is good for 12k ST dps so I quickly kill some stragglers and then turn around to see what the dps are doing (they were both standing behind me).

And then I see it, standing there in all his glory, the heavy attacking, snipe spamming bow dps. I watched in amazement as he valiantly battled his single zombie foe, eventually he emerged victorious.

Still slightly surprised I turned to his dps partner to see why he hadn't come to his aid. And there it is, the frags hard casting spam sorc. He proved to be as effective at killing things as his buddy.

I must have been in shock as I died quickly and we wiped again.
We ended up killing the boss on about the 10th attempt. I did 45% of boss damage at 10k dps :D. I'd wager the tank was doing as much as the dps.

I said I chat that 'we aren't doing enough damage to be able to complete the dungeon'.
To which frags boy said 'my crystal frags does 8k damage'.
    Well, no arguing with that.

The dps were not too bad though, they listened and followed mechanics and didn't stand in stupid, so we continued. The triple bosses we cleared on the 3rd attempt but hit a brick wall on the inhibitor. Best attempt we got boss to 80%.

We all decided it was time to quit at this point. I advised the dps to try on normal and to look at some builds and rotations online.
    I hope they did.

Yeah that was pretty much it.
I was going to run down some basic rotation and gear points but in the end just recommend checking out rotations and builds themselves.

Despite being over 300CP I don't think he had any idea about rotations.
I main a mag sorc and I didn't see him using any buffs or dots. (Though he made a point to stand behind me most of the time so I may have missed it)

Ok, so... vWGT. There's a 300+ dps (all bows), 370+ tank, 380+ healer, and me, a stam sorc.

First boss, 300 dps gets caged and dies. Tank dies, and the boss agros to me. I start kiting the boss to let the healer res. The healer dies. Only thing left to do was to make an epic comeback by soloing the rest of the way. It was a clench win, a clench win.

Second boss, 300 dps, tank, and healer goes after the templar first. Thew healer dies within a few seconds. I res him and promptly go after the sword and board guy. The others get the hint and we smoothly finish the fight.

Third boss, we wiped twice to the adds. Turns out the healer couldn't close the portals fast enough using heavy attacks from a resto staff. Third try, I got portals multiple times, and we got through it without having to deal with adds. You should've seen it, it was epic, I was like Robin Hood, one-shoting portals left and right, while still having the time to dot up the boss.

Last boss, it was a disaster. We could consistently get to 20%, but then just wipe. Healer gets frustrated, keeps saying "don't die" as if that's some kind of sagely advice. Would've helped if the healer wasn't across of the arena during the shielded phase. He also claimed I was getting constantly healed. Well, I was, from surge at least. For being constantly healed surge was doing great, greatly out healing the healer. Anyways, this goes on for a while until they kick me from the group. I never did find out what happened after they kicked the max cp dps that was doing the vast majority of the damage. I'm not even joking about that one, the other dps was spamming light attacks from a bow.

In the end, I may be a little salty... in that I refuse to run vet DLC dungeons with pugs. If a friend or guildie asks me to join then sure, why not, can't that bad.

Wgt and icp are awesome with pugs imo. That's just the thing though, you can't pug if you want completion and keys. This is not how it works. You can only pug for lulz and when you're bored (also if you enjoy showing new people the ropes but most of them ignore anything you say lately anyway so it's more in the lulz department) :D That's what I do and I'm never disappointed.

Giant LOL at that FG troll @ForsakenSin , damn. I would've kicked the guy much sooner honestly, deserved it.

I've nothing against pugs, I'm all for it really, great way to make friends and all that. But with DLC dungeons, 1/2 of the non completions, there's usually someone raging or getting salty, and refusing to calm down or take advice. It's become rather tiresome to have to deal with that.

P.S. I do enjoy showing newbies to the ropes. Giving tips and tricks, and explaining mechanics, and all that. And it's always fun to see what they'll come up with in return.

For instance a tank, all on his own, running back and forth during the Skoria fight to generate ult for magma shell/banners (can't remember which), then res the higher cp dps to go in for the clench win.

I've done vFG1 a fair number of times over the last few days. None of those runs had 600s in them. Only one was tough, and that was with a 560 healer in it.

vetDLCs - there I'll agree with you, they are a much greater challenge.

FG1 can be done in 15 minutes by people barely at CP160, if they have some AoE skill equipped to deal with the crab and his adds and if they know to press the same key twice in quick succession to roll dodge from the end boss AoE. There's no DPS check and no complicated mechanic there. A CP600 player with good gear and knowledge will have no trouble soloing it.

^^Agreed, which is why a blanket rule of "worry if no 600, and 180 is too low" is a bit shortsighted.

LOL i can just imagine the sorc saying " but... but.... what do you mean low dps ? my crystal frags do 8k damage?" :D
Raises the question how he manages to only to 8k damage with frag?

No surge, no sharpened weapons, no set gear (or wrong set), attribute points spread around, CP spread around hard cast, no ED on target etc.

    Pretty much.
The problem is, I was putting on ele drain and giving SPC. So no idea what he was doing.

I do recall, before I actually learnt to play, I was running around with 30k Mag and 1k SD and spamming crystal blast. I was probably doing the same damage lol.

I tried a pug for vet ICP tonight twice. Sometimes you get lucky, but both times groups had CP 200's and my 600 tank. I knew pretty much how it would end up before it started, Never made it past first boss, so I logged out for netflix and chill. There should be a skill-testing question and a warning before sub 400's queue for DLC dungeons.
Why did the Dunmer cross the road?
Apparently to get stuck in an eternal load screen!

Yesterday waiting for the que for PvP on my stam dk a stamsorc runs around nuking other pve builds with arrow barrage, learning trap, flurry spamm etc(pve rotation)
After 4 duels he finally challenges me.
    It was very short.
Stepped out of the aoes, dotted him dizzying swing -> take flight -> the end.
I'm still not sure what exactly he was doing...
Moral of the story= it's equally confusing to see a pve build dueling like seeing a PvP build in a dungeon

I just did Darkshide II with a pug group. Me (CP 320), healer (CP7xx), and two DDs (lvl59, CP59). The DDs were playing together - similar names, grouped when we started (dungeon finder threw us out).

The DDs were somewhat slow. One took half of most fights to start fighting, and fighting was then mosty HA with a staff. This was a case of a quick dungeon taking forever because we simply did not have group DPS. On the final boss we wiped once. I switched to DPS, did an "amazing" 6k DPS, which accounted for 40% of the group DPS. It was my first time with the boss, and I wasn't aware that its poison attack stage is arena wide, so I was once killed by that (I was targeting mobs at that stage, in the previous round the mobs became too many and overwhelmed us). Group DPS was 15.2k.

All in all, a fairly dismal showing from me and the 2 DDs. Yet, our high CP healer never complained, he didn't leave the group, he offered advice where he felt needed and he even said "thank you" after the spidey boss was killed.

    Kudos to @junior77 !

Why would you stick around thru that? Finishing a dungeon isn't worth it.

Why would you stick around thru that? Finishing a dungeon isn't worth it.

People are all different, and play with vastly different priorities. For some people character development is important, and they do dungeons with the idea of getting that key, hoping to get a good drop from the box. Others play for the sheer fun of it - they play because they enjoy playing, and not because of the reward.

And then it might very well be that our healer brought his real life character and values into the PUG group: I won't be surprised if he's the kind of person in real life who'll stick by you when the going gets tough, even if there's nothing in it for him. I understand that many players don't see any point in loyalty to a PUG group, but I respect those who do.
