I've played a lot of mmos, always dps. I've been playing ESO since first beta and finally would like to try a tank. Should I be blocking all the time or just the obvious stuff? Any tips from experienced tanks would be great. Thanks
Those who dream by night in the dusty recesses of their minds wake in the day to find that it was vanity. But the dreamers of the day are dangerous men for they may act their dream with open eyes, to make it possible.
Depends. Normal Dungeons, your job is to draw aggro and stay alive. Blocking is a big part of that. Debuffing the Boss is good to, but thankfully that which draws aggro does that for you. In this case Dodge Chance and Physical Resistance and Health are your focus.
Vet Dungeons and Trials your role is also to buff the group and that is done with gear choices that offer the ability, namely Ultimate Generation as most group buffing is done with Ultimates. Although things like Igneous Shield and Molten Armaments do this to and those are skills.
To see what a end game tank should be, see this, but just know that this over kill for normal dungeons, just something to work towards:
11:32 - "Ah the Celestial Mage, this shouldn't be so bad. I'll just cast Dark Deal from time to time to keep my stamina up so the healers don't have to worry about me with the axes."
11:34 - "OH GOD THE AXES, MAKE THEM STOP!! SHARDS, SHARDS PLSSZZZ!!!"
