XBOX/NA - Assistant Bugs: Split Stack not working, Menu disinganging after a while

While using the assistants, I found two bugs that consistenly appear:

1. When selecting a stack, you have the menu option to "Split Stack", but it doesn't work. Clicking on it won't do anything.

2. The menu for the assistant will consistently disappear as if you left it after a few seconds. Not sure how many seconds, but it happens every time. Must be related to the idle animations because the assistants usually always walk away after that. At least when you activate them back the inventory position is saved, but it is still annoying when trying to do longer management of inventory.

    Just a heads up, still happening after Homestead patch. Both issues.

    After further investigations, it looks like the "Split Stack" option works in Craglorn, but not in Wayrest or Rawl'kha.

    My guess is that it is bugged while you are in a safe zone (no timer to log out).

    How do you know? It's the exact same function causing it because you said "split stack doesn't work". You just don't see the error and instead it fails to work.

    The assistant bug secondary is not the same, likely a different bug entirely. Unless, it's the copy of your game.
    If you can repair an install or reinstall completely on console then you should try it. I've had to do it on pc even though I'm usually able to fix things without doing so, and when I report it I know enough to determine if it is a bugged code or server issue rather than something that can be fixed by a reinstall.

    Because the details are different. Might have the same underlying cause, but I can reproduce the Split Stack not working consistently and there never is an UI error. Other people in my guild could reproduce also doing the same steps, also without UI error.

    If the bug is the same, any topic will get it fixed. But, if it is not the same, if I bury this specific bug on the other thread, it only one might be addressed.

    I suggest posting in that thread in addition to this.

    1) The results are the only difference. Both the error and no error you and they have are caused with the same function, the recently added split stack functionality. Have you tried it on an item in your bank yet?

    2) Both that thread and your thread are reproducible. That doesn't make them different and it wouldn't be a bug if it weren't reproducible because you wouldn't even see it multiple times either.

    The true bug that differs from that other one in this thread is your assistant npc. The other thread doesn't mention anything about that.

    I'm not going to keep arguing this... The first message on the thread you linked has a completely different bug...

    "I'm on the NA server on the XB1 and I get a "UI Error" when I spend too long in my inventory menus, "

    - The bug reported here has nothing to do with time in inventory. It happens immediately after entering the assistant menu in some areas and trying to split stack.

    "specifically when I'm doing inventory management in my bank and when crafting."

    - The bug here only happens on assistant merchant and banker.

    "I press A to dismiss the error,"

    - The bug here does not display an error. Ever.

    "but eventually it can happen too often that I start missing functions like pressing Y on an item or functions don't work such as trying to press the logout button to no response."

    -This never happens with this bug. You press Split Stack, it won't work. Nothing more. It doesn't freeze anything else.

    "Restarting the client helps and even restarting the console, but eventually the problem comes back."

    - Again, nothing like this bug. Restarting the client or the console does nothing to the bug I reported. It always happens.

    "I can sometimes also see UI lag. Attached is a screenshot of the error message."

    - Again, not applicable to this bug.

    So, basically everything is different, which, in computing, probably means they are completely different bugs. Again, not going to keep arguing this. Going to wait for next patch and update here if this keeps happening or is fixed.

    I may have linked the wrong thread, but there are at least 2 others about splitting stack issues on consoles with more detail to help you and the developers.

    But, the first person to report a bug is not usually the one with the most detail. The details come through asking questions of them. "what did you do?" "where did you do it?" "when did it happen?"....
    That helps.


    And no, I'm not arguing. I just am reiterating the sticky post at the top of the forums saying "search for existing threads about your issue and reply to those" and also saying that to help you out you should post in any relevant discussion thread as it will bring more info on the history and other people experiencing the bugs so they can "triangulate a solution".

    I happen to work for a technical support by phone company, not software though but physical issues, and we have so many people call in saying "the problem is on your end, so I'm not going to help you with more info or do anything as simple as rebooting the equipment" even if it has some chance of fixing the issue or is guaranteed to fix it.
    You can tell somebody "I'm an idiot" right after they call you an idiot and they won't hear it or believe you if they do hear it. They expect you to deny everything and work against them for no other reason than to make them angry even though you're paid to be nice and get fired if you're not. People are crazy.

    So, please just find the other similar post that I mentioned, one of the 2 recent ones at least, and bring it back to the forefront adding to the discussion. Some other players are watching those threads and not yours since anything we post on shows in our history but not new posts about the same issue unless we come back here and happen to see it.
