The problem is not that double XP is bad it's that it's yet another event that doesn't benefit old players if you have all max level characters and you're at lease 30 points over the CP max you will never fall behind the cap again and your characters will stop progressing.

I like it for what it is something to help new players, new alts and low CP players. But it would be nice to have something for older players XP does nothing for you if you're maxed out.

With so many players falling in the fully maxed category it would be nice to have something during Holidays for us.

Why is double XP a bad thing? O_O

Because it lessens the amount of time you actually have to spend playing and learning the game.

You then take your 500-600CP character into a trial or vet dungeon without having a clue on what you are doing. But because you are high CP and can't complete content, you complain this is too hard and ZOS start nerfing things that others can complete - because they spent time learning how to play properly..

You don't need to learn anything but the basics to get to CP cap.
Just as you didn't need skill to have Vet 16.
There's almost NO skill at all involved in getting to XCP 600 - you can just grind out trash all day long and do it.

Having CP 600+ is NOT and never has been a "mark of skill"; it has only ever been a "mark of time played".

It's been like that since day one.

But some people are getting all salty because they think others getting to CP 600+ easier/quicker than they did somehow diminishes the skill needed to get to CP 600.

They are deluding themselves if they think getting there required skill in the first place.

Now, before you get even more salty please take note: I am NOT saying that CP 600+ players "have no skill".

I AM saying that "skill was not necessary to get to CP 600+".

    Two very different things.

    All The Best
Those memories come back to haunt me, they haunt me like a curse.
Is a dream a lie if it don't come true, or is it something worse.

I have 1 Level 50 character who really will be OK if he never levels another skill or skill line via XP gain. I have 2 Level 50s with small needs for skill leveling. I have 2 more Level 50s who badly need skill leveling. I have 6 characters below Level 50.

So yeah -- I think double XP is a good thing.

My lvl 7 and lvl 32 beg to differ. My lvl 32 already has a speed 60 horse, but I would love getting a boost over that painful, grindy hump to lvl 50. Also at 510 CP, I can almost taste 600...

People 'grinding' their way to level 50 on alts are not those we are referring to, we all appreciate the xp boost when doing this - although I have never felt it was a grind myself (I have 8 toons levelled up).

Those that I am getting at are the people who simply see reaching CP600 as a grind, thinking that the only thing stopping them from being good is lack of CP. For those that simply 'grind', it will not matter how long they take to reach CP600, they probably won't learn much.

For me, the way to learn the game is to take your first characters through the actual content, going into dungeons and facing world bosses unprepared, failing, improving, trying again, asking questions, learning and then defeating the same content on your way through.

People who think this is simply a 'grind' are the ones that double XP helps get to a high level, while avoiding any 'real' content, without learning how to play. Suddenly someone on 500CP queues for a vet dungeon, never having run the normal version, and either complains because it is too hard or because they get kicked and called a scrub.

I'm pretty sure the "noobs" won't make it to cp600 in the length of the event, and most won't be doing the mob farming. I think the cp600 characters running around with no clue are those that have a cp600 main, and are then forced to the top when an alt hits 50, and they don't have skill lines learned, and endgame class mechanics and rotation down.

If people are farming from lvl 1 to cp600 in that time frame, they more than likely have a large enough gaming experience to do all the research on how to do so, which makes me think they will learn the endgame fairly quickly. Most new players don't know, or even wish to use the power leveling mechanics this game has to offer.

It's important that people can get as quickly as possible to the point where they can complain that there's nothing to do.

Personally, I have no problem with double xp boosts during events so long as they can be disabled or otherwise avoided without having to miss out on the rest of the event. If that isn't the case in a game then I tend to play a different game while the xp boost is in effect.

If you QQ about people getting high CP fast and not "learning to play" cause of the faster grind then why don't you teach them instead? Its really easy to grind to CP600 as it is anyway and a lot of people are already just grinding dolmens or zombies or what not. CP has and should NEVER be an indication of skill. If you expect high CP to perform one way then that's your problem. But getting more people to higher CP does not ruin the game in anyway shape or form. It just helps those that don't have a ton of time to invest in the game to get a bit more exp while they play for the limited time that they have.

I don't understand how this ruins the game, XP is worthless in this game and the more people who can catch up with the silly CP caps the better.

Also I checked OP's thread history to see if they also complained about too many low CP players in dungeons (they didn't) and OMG how many threads have they started about sever downtime/disconnects. :anguished:

I think this is a case of somebody at the top who doesn't want other people sitting up there too. Some people only enjoy having something as long as others don't have it.
Realistically the duration of the event isn't gonna bring people from 0-600 CP. For most people its gonna be worth maybe an extra 40-50 CP - are you really saying that there is a huge difference between skill levels at 500/550 and 600 CP??
Also, if you're that worried about your elite status, most people at that level use add-ons that show people's full CP. So we can all see who has 600 and who has 800+

I think the double xp is great to help lower level and lower CP players be able to get up to the cap that much quicker so they are on more even ground with those of us who have been in game from the beginning.

Do you really think that's a great idea? I've seen capped CP levels who don't even know what to do on their builds. They simply suck. This will further ruin everything that can help the low CP to actually learn and benefit their builds through patience.

I can speak from personal experience because I made the mistake of taking an advantage of the XP boost event (Both witches and the festival) with my 3 toons, and I have yet learn anything from them, and their class due to my lack of patience and willing to learn. ZOS gave me the lazy way out through this XP boost.

You learn from experience, not from farming for your CP.

What's the problem with it? It takes few days to level new top lev char. It takes 2-3 weeks for new player to level upto CP 160. I do not know how long does it takes to get CP cap now as i've got it long time ago... So XP boost helps new players to get CPs faster and i cannot understand how this can ruin the game... more.

Yup, what @klowdy1 said. I know what I'm doing if I'm on my Nightblades (3 of my 12 characters) but I'm still learning how to really play well with the other classes, even if all characters are now at CP cap. If you see a CP600 questing around on a Templar/Sorcerer/Dragonknight and throwing strange skill combinations at mobs, it may be me!
