Battlegrounds and Emperor

Oakclaw
Oakclaw
Hello,

At some point I plan on making a push for Emperor so I'm curious to get everyone's opinion on how battlegrounds will effect the ability to get it, specifically on consoles. Pure speculation but I can see a lot of the serious PVP folks shifting to battlegrounds, especially if they have leaderboards, thus making it easier to get. I can also see it becoming more difficult if Cyrodiil populations get messed up.

I even read somewhere that they may rework Emperor, making it possible to get via battlegrounds! Probably not true, but an interesting thought.

I believe battlegrounds will not be tied to any campaign, so it will not help you advance on those leaderboards.

The BG have their own leaderboards for each game mode (deathmatch, CTF, domination).

BG's separate from the alliance war. Think of it more as generic arena deathmatch in ESO.

I've been saying that since beginning of console release. I just can not compete with those people that stays on 20+ hours everyday. Unless you know a secret if so please send me a pm lol.

Right, I fully understand that they will be separate. I was just thinking that some of the current hardcore PVP people (the ones that you see getting Emperor) and the folks helping them may shift to battlegrounds, making it easier for other people.

It's obvious that cyrodill will be empty place 1st few weeks after morrowind release only people that will stay on cyro will be those that dont have expansion or really hardcore zerging fans. It'l be similar situation to Imperial City DCL release when cyrodill was empty place because everyone was running in IC. Question is how percenmt of PvP players will have Morrowind expansion at the release day.

The people who get emperor are not necessarily MLG no scope 1vX players or even group leaders. These are just the people who spend more time playing ESO all day.

Some of these players might switch to battlegrounds, but Cyrodiil leaderboards will always be more about whoever spends the most time playing instead of going to work or school etc.

"Hardcore" maybe (but some chug Mountain Dew hardcore also). But you need to realize that for the longest time now, 90%-95% of emps are carried there by internal guild efforts with AP feeding and then blitz the map. Emp is traded many times within guilds, or amongst guilds that are friendly.

I can't name one emp in the last year, maybe year and a half that anyone really cared about on the digital battlefield. Some even go as far to say that emp means nothing and is a "joke".

Personally I would be one of Tamriel's greatest emperors. But there is physically no way I am going to put in the time to glue myself to the PC solely for ESO for x amount of hours, nor have I been or will I ever be part of a guild. That being said, I would lower taxes substantially for even the poorest of argonians and instruct my attorney general to enforce law and order. Crime, wherever it may be found, in the seediest neighborhoods in Rivenspire. In the moldy and shower scum infested Pact Militia hideouts. In the skooma and prostitution houses in Rawl'kha. Wherever crime and villainy may be found it would be rooted out. Haxus members would be found, arrested, and promptly given a one way ticket back to The Rift.

Edit: And by the way! With Emperor Scipio there would be no more Haxus members being sent home and then The Skald King refusing to take them back. No way no sir! Not anymore believe me! The Skald King will take them back big league!

I think it's interesting people say that the players who get emp aren't good they just have 20+free hours a day. 9/10 in the main campaigns the person with 1st is in the top 3 within the first 2hours of a reset. I think it's relevant to bring up towards op question because if you cannot place in top 5 type of range on a reset day now you probably won't be able to get it on battleground reset. There are certainly going to be a lot of people who go right into battlegrounds and alot of those players will be those ppl on cyrodiil leaderboards. That being said you won't b the only 1 thinking this, and some of those high leaderboard ppl will see the same opportunity. In the end you will still have to compete just as hard as a regular week but probably only against half of the usual leaderboard ppl

Within the first few hours I could have 500k over people if I wanted to, so I never got the Emps only stay on forever to get it. That really only applies to people who aren't that good at getting ap, emp is usually decided on the first 7-10 hrs of reset.

I do not believe CP will be enabled in BG's. I can't recall where I heard that; maybe rumor or some video clip. But if BG's have no CP you will not find many of the top players there. They cherish that CP for many reasons.

I think think there will be a no cp option like azuras is now. but with leak of the CP rehaul that was clearly geared towards pvp balancing, why would they disable CP for BGs? If anything they are ramping up for CP enabled BGs. . .

    as to the OP:

yeah no, BGs arent going to do anything to current Emp pushes. Salty people will try to tell you Emperor means nothing - but it still holds prestige regardless of what you hear. why? just look at what you get with it:

Gameplay wise you gain a skill tree of emperor passives. These include things like tripled resources, more damage with siege, ultimate regen increase etc. however the cosmetic perks to emperor are as follows:
    - Unique red dye (Ruby Throne Red)
    - A Title (Former Emperor "Emperor" while active)
    - The Emperor costume (dyeable with eso plus)
    - A 50 pt achievement (Emperor!)
    - Option to purchase The Ruby Throne Homestead Furnishing

like, seriously anyone telling you Emp means nothing are salty players who want to hold onto something and dissuade you from getting it because they want to feel like a special snowflake.

Sure its been flipped around, but why? because everyone wants it. Its one of those achievements that new players come into the game thinking theyll never get. like come on, who ya'll tryin to fool?

I wouldn't consider anyone who would forego battlegrounds because they crutch too hard on champion points and are unwilling to adapt anywhere close to being a 'top player'.

To a newer player it means something, it's fun here and there but personally it's overrated lol and this is coming from someone that has got it way more than the average player.

Should someone get it at least once? Yeah the best part about emp is the skill line, if you never experienced it you're missing out.

This^^ will have to wait and see how things work out, I can see a couple of different scenarios, will AP farmers even be interested in the small scale ? I hope those people that complain about zergs all the time play battle grounds, I have no interest in them played plenty of other games that had small scale played it for years, I like running with my small group and the freedom to go places in cyrodiil, I just hope zos does not dump on cyrodiil in favor of small scale I think there is room for both. I hope zos does something about the cheating and exploiting otherwise the average player looking to have some fun will soon give up and small scale will end up cheater vs cheater, at least they will be out of cyrodiil.

Just make an emperor push on the first day of each campaign after reset. Sooner or later you will find yourself on a campaign leaderboard without the top guilds / pvpers and you might stand a chance. You are right in amusing that some players that would usually be on the leaderboard will be playing battlegrounds.

You still need to be able to average over 60k - 70k AP an hour solo before even attempting to make an emperor push even if some of the key players aren't there to compete with. If you can't pull those numbers than keep working on your build and improving as a player.

Also, if some of the top guilds aren't pvping that campaign, you could reach #1 only to find your faction is unable to capture the emperor keeps for you.
