I have something else to say about this
I wonder how many of them even realize where they are. From the player's PoV, the guild trader is at any Bank, and it is easy to lose track of where the actual trader is.

Also, with slow turnover, it can easily happen that a fair price item doesn't sell as no one sees it, and after a couple of days the price has dropped, making the price too high. My guild's trader is in Wayrest, and even there some of my housing mats didn't sell, even when below TTC and MMC. Two weeks later, those same items are significantly above MMC and TTC and I'll have to consider cancelling them if I've filled up my trader slots.

Yes I do and those merchants in the boonies need to get with the program..
Although people post stuff in those traders for similar prices as the big locations, remember that they have a pool of regular potential buyers from other members of that guild.

The best thing about boony traders is that they are checked less regularly, so you have a better chance of finding a deal there. Deals show up on the big traders too, but they get snatched up really quickly.

That said, I do wish they would drop their prices, cause I'm cheap!

Experience shows that the boonies typically aren't pricing their wares for current market price, so they are usually more expensive. Usually because people who join them aren't as concerned with moving inventory or don't use Master Merchant, so they aren't even aware of the going prices (which also requires them to be part of a bigger trade guild).

I don't shop around for sales anymore beyond the major hotspots. It's a massive waste of time that has very little in terms of results. There could be a sale out in the middle of no where, but I don't have the time to sift through the horrible system that became our global economy.

I really wish ZOS would address this, but it's never going to happen.

Well let's put this in an economic perspective.

If all the boonies Traders, as you call them, sold their items at much lower prices, then word of mouth would spread that prices are x% cheaper at boonies Traders. Then more players would want to purchase more items at boonies Traders which means the sellers would be making more money. And since the sellers are making more money from the increase in sales, the value of the boonie Trader would increase. When the price of the boonies Trader increases because of the increase in traffic due to the cheap prices of goods, the guild pays more for the trader. When that happens, the players have to increase their prices of goods to pay for the increased price of the trader. At some point they reach equilibrium and no longer experience a surge in customers. The increased prices decreases the number of customers which decreases the number of sales. The decrease in sales decreases the demand for the boonies trader so then there is a decrease in the amount of gold needed to hire the Trader. As the price of the trader goes down, the boonies Traders prices begin to decrease again to increase sales due to the lessened traffic. And the cycle starts all over again.

They are already a lot cheaper for most items. Most buyers are just not willing to spend a lot of time shopping around all over the place. Also there is the problem of traders being too far from the wayshrine, or not enough traders in other spots.

The high traffic traders seem to end up being cheaper sometimes for commodity items like mats or extremely popular stuff. Whenever there are lots of sellers listing the same thing, they tend to drive the price lower as they compete.

I don't expect to find bargains, but they're an invaluable source of specialised items such as overland sets for use in BWB or non-CP crafting mats on the cheap, and even when searching for an illusive item that you'd pay anything for.

Don't expect a bargain of a lifetime, but you might well find items that are normally vendored for a lot less than at the major hubs.

I think you have this backwards!

From my experience, the traders in the prime locations are overpriced and charge a premium for their warez.

Traders that are away from those hotspots tend to have more realistic prices and one can certainly find good bargains by shopping around.

I rarely use guild traders but typically if I do its when I'm in town for other reasons. The traders in those areas are high foot traffic and I expect them to charge more since they paid more to get the bid. Conversely, I expect lower prices for the traders off the beaten path.

I've experienced both sides of the spectrum.

Sometimes, you find really good deals at the boonies traders. I generally don't go to them for common materials, but any time I'm looking for armor and especially weapons, I'll always check boonies traders.

On the other hand, sometimes people overprice items at boonies traders to try to overcome their sub-par trader. Or they are simply out of the loop on prices because they aren't in a major trading guild/don't care.

i'm just wondering what program it is that you think they should be getting with.

I know, really, OP sounds like he's bitter at the low outliers.

    lol

    Yeah you sound bitter.

The first 2 options in this poll are pretty biased. Generally, the guilds with merchants in the middle of nowhere pay much less (probably 1% or even 0.01%) of the Craglorn/Rawl trader spot prices. Obviously, this is because less people shop there as the spots ar not as convenient.

It's actually how free market works.

Expect better prices? No. Hope the prices are better? Definitely.
Too often, though, the prices are off-the-wall crazy high, or (more often) there's just no stock.
