Since crafting is useless, they should get rid of Heartwood and just let us use the stockpile of Ruby Ash piling up.

They need to add furnishing materials (heartwood, regulus etc) as rewards or potential rewards for doing writs. Obviously the material depends on what writ, so decorative wax for food writ, heart for woodworking writ etc.

It would be miles better than getting a shipment of crappy steel ingots that I literally have zero use for because I'm almost CP600. Also, before anyone says, I don't want to give it to my alt (even though I don't have one) because if I want steel ingots for my alt, I will complete the writs with that (although they'd probably reward a level 10 alt with a shipment of rubedite)

The problem with just using money is that the items in the achievement vendors cost money too. I am trying to farm the furniture materials and save gold for the achievement vendors. My point is that if 80% of the Red Guard, Breton, and High Elf furniture requires at least 6-10 mats to make, it should have a higher drop. Instead, it seems to have the lowest.

How can I say this clearer.

Its about the only resource that matters - time.

You claim to have spent all morning after heartwood and got two.

There are many many ways to have spent that time and gain gold that will buy you more heartwood than you got.

I have to say - I also find the lack of heartwood.

Much more recipes use heartwood than anything else - I think I've only used Alchemical Resin once, but it's also the only one I've gotten Master Gatherer for. I'm close with Mundane Runes and Wax though.

My personal opinion is that the droprate seems lower because there is less nodes of wood available. I've noticed that most people just run straight past the alchemical nodes most of the time, and place priority on the ore/wood nodes over rune nodes.

In the farming circle in Bal Foyen, there are about twice as many ore nodes as wood nodes.

Does anyone know a better place to farm heartwood?

I don't keep track with percentages, it would drive me crazy. I have noticed that all furnishing mats are more common drops at odd hours, like the middle of the day when the majority of players are at work. I farm the same areas, so I'm very familiar with the spawn rates and locations.

Places where more people are, have far fewer furnishing mats drop. It's not for lack of spawns. I've seen players do the harvest animation, kneel to take the mat and come up with the node still intact. We all know what's going on, they just haven't addressed the problem.

Adding furnishing mats to the drop table via refining would help eliminate the issue.

Drop rate for all housing materials is abysmal.

The drop rate is fine and fair, but the matter that almost every furniture requires a lot of heartwood is a flaw.

    100 wood? or 100 nodes?
I've spent a solid 2 hrs farming at a time, normally get about 30-50 heartwood each time, and around 800-1000 raw ruby ash. I farm low pop areas, have all the crafting skill lines fully pointed out, the visual passives help a lot, I also use harvestmap which has a convenient 3D pin overlay on the screen wherever I've harvested mats in the past. Pop on the Lover's node boosts for a chance at double drops, and 50% faster harvesting time.

I have a 9 trait crafter and all those Passives. So, it takes two hours to get enough heartwood to make 1-3 pieces of furniture? Y'all are cool with that? So, I am looking in my craft bag. I have 616 clean pelts, 667 alchemical resin, 32 bast, 140 Mundane rune, 124 decorative wax, 69 regulus, and 14 heartwood. It drops too low, considering how much it is needed.

By far for me, and for all of my guildies, Heartwood and Bast are the biggest challenges. I think part of that is I have 330 furniture recipes learned and only ONE Alchemy recipe (the oil lamp). As a result, I tend to have an overflow of Alchemical Resin and Mundane Runes, because nearly 1/3 of my recipes are woodworking related. I think the mat balance should be reviewed.

I don't have any fancy gathering bonuses in the CP trees on my main, so I'm at the mercy of guild members providing me their gathered furniture mats for me to be able to make anything for them. Requiring 11+ of a single furniture mat is a bit riduclous if you only get 1 on 10% of the gathers.

I don't know I am getting plenty. Close to 75% of my ruby ash nodes have heartwood. Most of those have multiple pieces of heartwood in them.

The 1 thing I do wish they would do is allow the housing mats to come from surveys. It's kind of odd that every node in the game can drop housing nodes, but the nodes that are supposed to be abundant (survey nodes) don't drop any? Whose bright idea was that?
