People farming Delve/Public Dungeon bosses - how does that work?

Two parts to my question:

Last night I saw people standing next to a boss spawn location in a public dungeon, waiting for him to spawn. When he did they killed them, but remained in place waiting for him to respawn. How does that work - wouldn't the loot timers mean that they get nothing but a few gold the second time they killed him?

Then I saw a group of people riding between two world bosses. I followed the group for one iteration; their timing was quite good, waiting time between spawns was minimal. I killed one boss twice and the second once. I got loot all three times. Isn't there a loot timer on World Bosses?

The delve bosses, I'm not sure. But I'm pretty sure the World Bosses there is no loot timer. Just the top 12 who has the highest DPS will get loot. At least, this is what I am understanding.

Ive never noticed any loot timers on anything. Not sure where that info came from.

What I have noticed is sometimes a delve boss can get "stuck" in a loot loop, where if you repeatedly kill him occasionally you'l get the same or similar drop 3-4 or 5 times in a row.
Farming a riven delve for Necropotence I got well fitted darkstride boots 3 times in a row -I got necropotence sash like 5 times in a row but with different traits, and also ended up getting like 7 sharpened necropotence maces; 4 times in a row and then 3 times in a row at two different farming sessions.

I remember that loot timers were a thing with the Witches Festival, but I'm not sure that I have ever noticed them working for overland bosses. I suspect that overland bosses takes longer than three minutes to respawn in any case.

There is a 5 minute loot cool down on Bosses. So, if they are waiting the 5 minutes then they get the loot. But more than likely they are Bots if they all stand in the same place. Or, they are not bots but gold sellers. Or, just very determined gamers. This is listed in decreasing order of probability.

As for World Bosses, same 5 minute timer applies and most bosses are far enough apart that you spend more than 5 minutes between kills. You said one twice, was it one boss then the other then back again to the first boss? I have quickly made it to a second world boss and gotten bupkiss so I think the timer still applies to them.

^^ Yep, kill Boss A, go to Boss B, kill Boss B, go back to Boss A, kill Boss A. Chances are that traveling and killing Boss B took more than 5 minutes.

Those in the Public Dungeon: If they were bots they were fairly well programmed. They didn't just spam LA or HA on the same spot - they only engaged the boss once it has respawned. Still a possibility, but one I can't really comment on.

Is the timer in the Public Dungeon per boss, or is it a bit more universal than that? I'm pretty sure that I often kill public dungeon bosses less than 5 minutes apart, and I generally get loot.

In Public Dungeons there are loot timers. I remember I was farming for Mothers Sorrow swords and after running through and killing a couple bosses I'd then get just coin loot no items or soul gems.

    Idk about overland bosses though.

Depends. If you were to enter a Public Dungeon that is otherwise Empty and has been for a while, all Bosses should be up for you. You can kill them pretty much as fast as you can and get Loot on each one. What throws a wrench into it is when others are there before you killing "your" bosses. They are not yours per say, but you know what I mean. Anyway, it is when others are in the dungeons killing bosses that you see the effects of the timers. Which is most of the time at busy hours.

I have camped bosses for pattern drops -- a lot -- nearly two weeks in the Hew's Bane Sharks' Tooth Grotto dungeon to get the stupid outlaw shield pattern for a Writ. Then I got four in a row

The actual "pop" is roughly five minutes - seems to be influenced by what other spawns occur in that five minutes.

The ones spawned in because someone else entered the room will be a minimal amount of gold, but roughly the same XP, depending on how much damage you did. I try to let the person who spawned the mob get them solidly tagged before jumping in to finish them off, which should be good practice for everyone who has any social graces.

At first, I would let the person(s) kill it solo, but too many people complained that they died while I stood there and didn't help, so ...

It's actually funny how many people will run through a boss room, not attack, and come back five or ten minutes later.

A guildmate and I got reported for botting because we were hanging out on the wispmother in DB expansion land. We were not - they ran in the room, ran out, so we killed the mob and ran back to the same spots (out of sight of the dead bodies on the floor so we could stealth).

No, I don't use any macros similar - I don't even use Dolgubon's lazy writ crafter, 'cause I think it's a macro and therefore breaks the spirit of the TOS's rule about "unattended playing".

    But anyhow...

^^I understand the idea of grinding for something you want, though I generally find it soul-deadening boring. It generally takes the fun out of a game for me, and if a game is not fun I stop playing. But I'm going to start farming Velidreth and VO gear now, so I'm willing to at least farm a bit.

What I don't get is the dolmen trains - that looks to be painful in its boringness.
