The lack of major mending is the biggest problem that Sorc Healers possess. This basically forces Sorc healers to run set's which boost healing % bonuses. Such as Sanctuary or Healer's Habit from vDSA.

What makes sorc healers potent is that they bring CC to the group as well as excellent sustain via Dark Deal. Their pet heal is tricky to use but strong. Their negate heal can be a huge lifesaver. But they lack the support skills necessary for hard content such as Shards.

I agree with pretty much all this but I would add on that the negate is rarely run except on vHRC for gargoyles, and even then its usually the sorc DPS who slot it.

It's not that they lack the skills, it's just that some skills and skill lines needed more reviewing

Empower ward....how many changes has this gone though. 10% magicka to allies which does stack with other major intellectual from Templar doesn't give much group unity. Why is subpar compared to the warden or Templar one that lasts almost twice as long and gives more buffs to groups? . Considering cost reduction is potentially going to go bye bye.... why not give sorrecers using the morph 10% reduction or more max majicka or maybe emprowered ward protects all pets on the field including other summoner pets.

Absorption Field... why is the first morph useless? How about negate also absorbs magicka from bosses and gives to allies?

Twilight > breath of life , it's only thing we have going for us.

Dark Deal - it procs spell critical for allies

Issue: Blood Altar the healing over time that can be layed take way to long to cast in most situations.

Issue shards: Add more synergies to the game and increase the undaunted command. The templar having 20% regain to max stamina is over powering and an plance issue.
.

With the high sustain I think sorc healers have the ability to output more heals, and costly items like mystics orbs.

It's doable in normal content but the formula and design will sadly always be;

DK - Tank
Templar - Healer
Sorc - DPS
NB - Ganker

Sucks but ZoS Logic.

I haven't completed Veteran Trial in Hardmode, but the fact is I often do Vet Trials so at the very least I one of the top healers in the game... maybe the only Sorcerer Healer this committed with 2700 of game time as such. So when you say normal content what do you mean

This why I think I have the expertise to attempt to help other wanbee sorc healers. As where the issue lies, more then perspective it's group ultlity. We need more skills that work together with others. Spell crafting my be that chance. The stamina issue could be resolved with a minor buff undaunted Command to say 15% . This will be especially necessary to compete with Templar in support when everyone spells cost 20 %more and regain is 10% less.

But back on topic,

Misconceptions

Twilight dies alot - not anymore, I have tested in almost all the hardest content in the game. Someties it can even tank the boss for a second while you rez the real tank

Twilight heal - by numbers is far greater then templar healer as it heals the two allies for the same base amount instead of 1/2 like breath of life

Dark Deal - is amazing in endurance fights like.

Lighting version of Wall of Elements is best played by the class for shock damage... the sorc. Imposion and such

Encase - a rooting ablity that slows enemies that now costs less.

Overlord - three bars yo

Storm Attonach - gives major berserk to an ally 75%

Mobility - if needed to could be close to an ally in an instance (though mind you it's a short distance and cost is outrageous)

Better use of stamina support abilities, 20% regain in stamina means more bone shields, and circle of preservation.

I always use my sorc healer for dungeon pugs. The resource pool and high burst heal that the altmer sorc can give is very useful. It essentially allows you to spam heal through any boss.
I also have a Templar healer for vet content but when I pug for a random dungeon I always take my sorc healer - 5pc necropot + 5pc spc. This gives me higher numbers on my HPS and covers over a multitude of shortcomings in pug dungeons. My templar just won't spit out the same level of burst heal and sustain to the same degree. Plus, sorc healer can contribute 15k dps easy to the group and in a pug with 2 dds under level 50, this can be very helpful. So, for vet content, the templar brings more to the group but when in pugs where you can get a mixed bag of abilities the sorc healer can be brilliant

It really is.

It's like asking whether you should buy a Yugo, or a Mercedes Benz.

Both do the same function, but one is far better than the other.

You can't. Being different from meta is not the same as being different AND viable in hardmode content.

She asked about vAA hardmode. They proc chain lightning which one shots everyone for starters, also they dont move once they are aggroed on a target so they die to black holes and mines.
VSO they die to popcorn, worldshapers
VHelra they die to shield throws and his jumps
VMol...well lets just say they die to everything but specifically they die to pillar phase, conversions, negates, cores, meteors, orbs etc etc.
They absolutely shouldnt be used in hardmodes.
So what do you when yiu cant have your matriarch out to burst heal?

It's really constructive, because it saves alot of frustration and tears when the first tank cries for a spear and the first Stamina DD yells in chat: "REP ??!!!??".

without major mending, bol and the heal stacking effects of purifying light and ritual to go with combat heal and grand healing variant youll be at a major disadvantage

the other thing you need to remember is that most of a Templars abilities, when used correctly allow the Templar to do something else, like shards, lightning blockade, vunerability, ele drain, and dps.

youll spend your time running after people trying to heal them, he he. I tried healing on a dk, and while it can be done, why bang your head against a wall? Weapon switching will be your doom as I imagine most Templars have healing on both bars.

my advise would be for you to be a backup healer, ready to spring into action when needed.
