Will ZOS ever do anything about the people lagging out Auridon with the 'rubber banding' dolmen abuse? My favourite part of Tamriel is being ruined

The most you can do is try to find a Dolmen that has a powerful mob nearby and drag it over to the AFK players. Maybe you can get the Mob to AoE them, if the Mob has an AoE attack.

There was this large group of players exploiting an instant respawn mob during the New Life Festival fishing event. Luckily there was a Wamasu nearby enough so we'd aggro the Mob, have it chase us over to the exploiters and then the Wamasu would do it's AoE on everyone. It was hilarious seeing twenty players get shocked and knocked face first into the mud.

Idk how many botters are there but you dont have to drag monsters to kill them. I've found a lone botter in a dolmen spamming lightning staff light attacks so I just stopped for 20 seconds for ranged monsters to kill him.

This is getting absurd, and is getting WORSE. I had a quest for the Fighters Guild dailies in Auridon.

Please address the AFK rubber banders spamming heavy flame attacks from range. I reported three of them, but could have easily spent most of my playing time reporting people.

    Any word on this?

Nope, that would just punish every regular player out there. Levelling alts is painful enough as it is. And while I really dispise all those AFK heavy attackers....doing some dolmens every once in a while is fine in my book. It gets old eventually for everyone doing the Dolmen trains.
But having Dolmens become useless again like in pre-One-Tamriel is simply an awful solution. Nobody bothered with them back in the day....because you outleveled them anyway and the "rewards" where crappy.

So the only solution might be to take action against all those who abuse this system and make the enemies harder the more players are at the dolmen.

They have said they're looking into game fixes for this, one of Jessica's post a while back.
    Hi everyone,

We know there have been a lot of questions recently about botting, automated play, what’s a Terms of Service Violation and what isn’t, and what we’re doing to combat TOS-violating behavior. We’d like to answer some of those questions and provide insight.

Per our Terms of Service, this is the definition of botting and automated play:
Utilizing automation for your character is a violation of our Terms of Service. This is defined as taking action on your character, without human input, to further advance your progress in the game. Which is considered botting.

Recently, some of you have asked if it’s okay to put tape or a rubber band on your controller. The short answer is “No.” Automating your character in any way, including placing tape or a rubber-band on a console controller, is considered a violation of our Terms of Service, and action may be taken on your account. You must be actively controlling your character.

In regards to our efforts to combat botting and automated play, we’re tackling it on two fronts: Game Development and Customer Support.

On the Game Development front, we are auditing the monsters that are most commonly targeted by those who bot and automate play to ensure the spawn timers are what they should be. As we find them, we’re fixing any monsters that are instantly re-spawning or on a spawn timer that is shorter than intended.

On the Customer Support side of things, our Terms of Service team suspends and bans accounts daily. We review all TOS reports that we receive, and prioritize the investigations of accounts that have received multiple complaints. We regularly send our Support Agents in-game to watch high-traffic areas such as Dolmens, and take action on any violators we identify. We turn over identified “black marketeers” and repeat offenders to Sony and Microsoft, which sometimes results in a ban of the individual’s PlayStation 4 or Xbox One. We also do other secret things. ;)

So how can you help us with our efforts to get rid of those who are botting and/or automating their characters? Reporting them to us is a huge help, and we do review every ticket we receive.

Here are some steps for using the in-game reporting tools:

    On PC/Mac
    Radial Menu
Reporting players via the radial menu is the preferred method. Walk up to the player you wish to report and Press [F] to open the radial menu. Select “Report Player” then let go of [F] to open the Report Player window. Press [E] to report the player for botting, or [R] to open the Ticket Creation page.

    Chat Window
You can also Right-click on a player character name in their chat window and choose the “Report Player” option.

Press [E] to report a player for chat spam, including spamming gold sales advertisements. This will automatically send a report and does not require you to open and fill out a ticket.

Press [R] to report another player for something unrelated to spam. Choosing this option opens the Ticket Creation page.

    On PS4/Xbox One
    Radial Menu
As with PC/Mac, reporting players via the radial menu is preferred. Simply walk up to the player you wish to report and press the [Menu] button on Xbox One or [Options] button on PlayStation 4 to open the radial menu. Select “Report Player” then let go of [Menu] or [Options] to open the Report Player window.

    Customer Service Menu
Navigate to the Player Menu ([Menu] on Xbox One or [Options]) on PlayStation 4 and find the Help Menu.
From there, select the Customer Service Menu and proceed to fill out a ticket under the appropriate category type.

Please provide the following information when reporting another player:
    • The name of the player you are reported
    • The reason why you are reporting them (Spam, Botting, or Harassment)
    • The time of the incident
    • The megaserver that the reported player is playing on
If you wish to include visual proof of the violation, such as screenshots or video footage, simply reply to your Support Ticket to update it and add the files.

We hope this info helps – thank you for being a part of our community and continuing to report any potential TOS violations you see!

Leveling dolmen with number of players would make it more fun. its an system like this but it only scale up to 4 players or something.

Increase the monster roam distance would also help as I understand the rubberbanders stand so far away the monsters will not attack. You can not engage enemies else in the world without drawing agro and standing on an place enemies can not reach will not work.
Grinding just make you go in circles.

How about adjusting the landscape so no dolmen has a rock/elevation to hide upon?

I suggested it because it's clear (a) that the unattended players aren't being effectively dealt with, and (b) there's just as big a problem with dolmens being crowded out with other players who are just there for "easy xp boosts". Limiting the xp gain would deal with both issues at once.

That's what they're doing by the sounds of it but it takes time.

However this is still only a band aid to the greater issue that bots or macro-afk users are not being dealt with overall.
They will just find another option to do.

When the boss lands, it should do a 5m knock back, unblockable. Give it the same range as a bow or destro staff. Would likely knock them off their perch, and los them.

It used to be similar to this, same for world bosses.

Big XP gain first clear, much reduced XP gain after that.

A cooldown of some sort wouldn't be entirely terrible - it's not like there aren't enough dolmens in the world to port to while the first one cools down. Would eliminate the AFK factor.

Make dolmens harder with one shot mechanics that are easy to dodge unless afk. Someone mentioned it similarly before.

Also random spawns for enemies, make spawns move over time, or have multiple spawn points for multiple enemies. Today its a mudcrab, and in an hour its a mammoth.

^^ Excellent idea. An elegant solution. Top marks.

When recently visited the Vulkhel Guard dolmen was stunned at the number of players all spamming flame staff heavy attacks. Yes, a first glance it briefly looked amazing. But then thought, what bunch of tw*ts. Sad.

Nice idea, but it only fixes the dolems.

The better solution is for ZoS to remove the attack sequence from the input matrix used to negate the timeout sequence. This forces players to use any other input but base attack to reset the timer. It wouldn't affect the game at all, considering everyone else is moving or checking inventory/map, etc.

The attack key has long been known to be a problem with AFK which is why many other games remove it from the input matrix. Why ZoS left it in is rather baffling.

    1. Being crowded with players trying to do legitimate activities isn't an issue. Never was, and you could never make it into one - that is called "working as intended."

    2. The only time I've ever actually seen a Dolmen as populated as you're acting like, so much so that it was an issue, was during the Halloween event, this is not a normal occurrence that it's plagued by 300 players. Usually Dolmens are lucky to see 3-4 people at once unless it's one of the cancer ones like the Auridon Dolmen.

    3. Limiting the XP gain doesn't hurt anybody but legitimate players anyway. The base XP for the Dolmen completion itself is garbage - the real XP boost comes from killing the enemies - and cutting the XP enemies give is just a bad idea, and it won't stop the botters - since they don't get that XP boost as it is - they just get the base XP for the closing, which is about 1/4 of what a Dolmen yields total when you factor in enemy kills. These guys who are rubberbanding are only getting 25% of the EXP normal people playing do - but they don't care they lose 75% of the XP because in their minds they're freeing up time to do other things - that's the reward they want, the time - the XP is just a nice side.

Long story short, gimping the XP wouldn't fix either problem. Sorry I was a little snappy and to the point earlier in my first post, I was on mobile.

The most optimal solution would be to make leveling ALTs from 0-50 less boring. It's not the Dolmens that need changing - there is a reason people are doing this - you need to attack that reason, not the action they're committing. If you mess with the Dolmens, guess what - they'll find the next best thing, they always do. So it's better to look at the situation from a perspective of motivation. Why do they do it? "To level up less boringly." is probably the most common answer you'd get.
