I am convinced that motif known and recipes known play no part, or at the very least a very insignificant part in getting master writs.
I realize zos said they increase the chance, but knowing all motifs could only increase chance by .01% and that statement would still be true.

Thats because the mechanics allow for a set amount of masterwrits to be awarded to the game population each day. So if you do your writs when all master writs have already been awarded, your chance of getting one drops from (no clue the percentages) say 5% to 0%.
Now you know why theres always a bunch of people waiting around the writs board at that time of day.
From my personal experience of zero master writs over 3 weeks of doing writs on my 100% crafter, when, where etc is just a 'rabbits foot' believe it if it helps... RNG trumps ALL, it's the ZOS way that or sloppy coding and useless QA?

I'll start...
1. Don't open Vessels, Coffers, Crates, Cases, Satchels, or Packs while still in Craglorn.
2. Don't open an Alchemy vessel first, because if you get one in there, you won't get any others that day.
