@Moglijuana What are your thoughts on Spinner's vs Silks of the Sun? For a setup of 5x Spinners, 5x Elegance, 1x Molag Kena. I wasn't sure how the 5pc bonus for the spell pen on Spinner's compared with just the raw spell damage of Silks for our heavy attacks. Plus the 2pc spinners gives max magicka in lieu of 2pc silks for max health
As far as heavy sets go:Wrecking_Blow_Spam wrote: »I read this full thread. Lots of good info but still undecided on what to use for open world mag dk pvp build.
Like the sound of heavy and BSW.
Unsure on wether to go:
5 Kags/seducer/black rose on body.
Then BSW jewels with sword and board, then either resto, destro, sword and board back bar.
I'd be playing mainly solo, so I'm thinking Blood spawn and black rose.
I do have the BSW 1h in sharpened just need a shield.
What traits you guys running?
Sturdy, impen, infused big?
I like the idea of running sturdy but mean low crit resist.

On one hand it is great, that there are so many viable builds for a MagDK in PVP, but on the other, it can create some serious headaches. I spent almost one million gold to acquire several different sets to experiment with, but have to save money anew to improve them accordingly for relatable coomparisons.Wrecking_Blow_Spam wrote: »I read this full thread. Sustain is no issue(main offensive ability restores resource) and damage is great (i can "one-shot" most players with full-charged heavy+stone giant+leap).
Only issue is survivability when outnumbered, but honestly it wasn't all that great in heavy either(at least not against competent players) and now i can usually take a couple with me at least.
Switch Kags for Elegant. Thank me later. I've been using it after playing around with 5 Heavy Seducer/BSW/Bloodspawn and it is much more enjoyable when you can two shot people. I enjoy the normal tanky playstyle but while Outnumbered, you're going to die anyways. So, you might as well blow some people up on the way down like you said
As long as I can turn fights into quick 1v1's/1v2's with some LOSing I'm able to 1vX pretty well as the DPS combo's are kind of ridiculous lol.
However, I think the greatest enjoyment I've been getting with elegant/sun is being able to out dps gank blades as they jump in. It's muchhhh better than having to tank & cc them until an ulti is up. 11-12k whips are no joke when paired with a 13-14k heavy destro
@Moglijuana @Sharee
Do either of you know if the Silks of the Sun 5pc bonus affects the Destro staff light/heavy attacks?
I'm looking at running a 5elegant/5sun/1kena for a flame heavy attack build for PvP. I've got the elegant pieces I need, just wondering about the Silks of the Sun bonuses before I buy that gear.
Yep. I've also tried kags vs elegant...The Elegant/Sun/Kena Combo netted the best dps/burst after testing for an hour on a target dummy.
@Moglijuana
If I may ask, how do you set up your bars and how do you assign your CP? And what mundus stone do you use?
Front bar is Dampen, Inner Light, Fossilize, Burning Embers, Whip Ult: Ferocious.
Back bar is Igneous, Coagulating, Mist Form, Volatile, Molten Armaments Ult: Lights Champion (resto ulti)
The main CP I focused on for dmg was 100 into Ele Expert, 10 into staff expert and rest into Elfborn. The rest is up to you and how defensive/offensive you want to be. I usually play that build with a small group so I can go more offensive than normal.EldritchPenguin wrote: »Did Sun even outperform BSW? Sun did not outperform BSW, but I use sun since its damage is always there. The 8 second window of the BSW proc is too short sometimes to get a full heavy destro combo off. Especially against people on stam builds with shuffle/dodge roll/LOS etc.
What about WMK? I'm using it on a mageblade and seems to work nicely.
What is WMK?
One of the things that's clear with all the magDK build threads lately is that there's no consensus on a BiS build. This is probably a good thing.
There are also sets like Bloodthorn, Alternation Mastery and Syrabane that tend to be ignored but have a lot of potential on DK.

Syrbane when you HA is reflected
I did ~500, but I needed a sharpened inferno. She can't even do the last boss fight without falling into water yet...

There's water in the last fight of City of Ash? I've been gone a year, not enough time for lava to turn into water... You have confused me Lexxy. Thoroughly bamboozled am I.
Imho, Slimecraw is a really underrated set. When sustain is decently managable and depending on the situations encountered, getting +8% to all damage done is really nice. Since the nerf to crit strikes, I play more with Slimecraw than Skoria, when looking for more damage; even if the first effect is useless.She only has slimecraw as far as monster sets, but the traits are bad and we happened to have the potentates stuff anyway. Overall the sustain is nuts(shuffle and near-perma block, tons of magika sustain too) and there's definitely enough damage.

Desert Rose has the potential to give you much more Magicka than Bloodthorn. The latter of the two has the advantage of giving you Stamina, and the other advantage of being dependent on your offense as opposed to their offense, giving you more control over your resource management.has anyone tested if bloodthorn is better than desert rose?
Imho Black Rose is indeed somewhere in between, a niche-set. It is neither a clear-cut damage, nor a typical sustain one. I am hoping that it gives me enough sustain (with cost reduction enchants), so that I can run it with Spinners. It looks good, but haven't played long enough to reliably judge this.Emmagoldman wrote: »Im also dual wield and s/b.
For heavy armor I have a set of black rose and did much better with it in 1v1 and 1vx. I will go all heavy for constitution and I need a second set.
Is black rose more of a sustain set or dmg or kind of in between? I am thinking of going with a set that either gives more dmg or utility. Bso sounds great but that grind is getting old! Im considering skooma smuggler for the expedition passive. The stats look good too. Would mothers sorrow work well to boost heals and dmg or would I lack resource? Any thoughts on material knowledge or spinners?

The one think with clever alchamist that i dont like are the boost to health. I think id rather have magika. Let me know what works well for you!
