XBox: Is it possible to remap buttons?

When I go to options, I see the controller with the assignments, but couldn't find a way to change it. Am I missing something, or is this not possible?
Related, is there an equivalent "Command Pet" option for console?

    The game doesn't allow this

    The console does allow remapping the actual buttons but not by game
    The elite controller adds another level of depth to console options

    Ugh, thanks @NewBlacksmurf ... I've been using a similar controller (Razer Wildcat), but I was hoping I could get rid of buttons I don't use (cycle quests/toggle first person) and replace with something else (like tab target / command pet or synergy).
    Oh well, another thing to add to my wishlist of console additions :-/
