Mine is vacant for the most part now. Some of the "big" items I placed outside like the Imperial Shrine, Dragon Shrine, Mother Statue and Wedding Gazebos among other things. The inside is completely empty.
Reason being is that the Hunding's Palatial Hall pretty much bankrupted me of gold and all my Crowns are pretty much gone.
I'm slowly working to add more stuff but pretty much, thats why theres nothing inside.
I'm slowly decorating the interiors when I can be bothered going looking for designs and mats, but I know these places will be with me for awhile, so not out there rushing it just for the sake of rushing it.
But the MAIN purpose is that it has given all of my pets a place to live. Now my kitties don't have to be dragged off through dangerous dungeons. They are safe at home by the fireplace that has no fire.

You forgot the main purpose of housing : privacy. Reading books, sorting inventory, organising gear, skill points and skill bars, etc... without suffering the presence of other players (and their running around, riding around, spamming abilities and duelling).
I don't even have my house yet. I'm up to 190k of the 325k I need for Mournoth Keep.
And after that I've got to decorate it (I've got a few pieces already, but not much) and I want to get Humblemud and probably Cliffshade for other characters.
Hopefully by the time I'm done decorating them ZOS will have sorted themselves out and added some actual functionality which will give me a reason to continue going there beyond using them as a free wayshrine.

My room at the inn is vacant. I just can't be bothered when there's so much to do in game anyway. That and I'm certainly not paying those prices for polygons.
I am going to wait for morrowind though to see if anything takes my fancy for my Dunmer. It seems only fitting. Only then will I just craft things anyway. There's no way the store will get any more from me than my sub.
